Third person
King Aldric stormed away from the Crown Prince's wing after being publicly forced to retract his accusation against Rain. He did not leave with a light heart, but his thoughts could not dwell on the situation long enough. Behind him, Marcus followed like a shadow, but the moment they stepped into his private area, he turned and cleared his throat.
"That would be all for now, Marcus."
Marcus did not get to say a word when the doors slammed shut in his face without warning. His jaw clenched, but he turned and walked back to his wing. He had to replan to act fast before it was too late. It was only this morning he had come to realize the Southern royals would never favor him, not when their Crown Prince and his twin sister doted on and defended Rain so openly.
The moment he walked inside, a figure stood by the glass window, watching the little back lawn.
"Princess..." Marcus trailed off, not sure which of the princesses had chosen to grace his view with their presence.
