Chapter 182
Thank You
A young man with calm and gentle features moved through the Beast Forest, walking with confident, light steps, as though the earth itself knew him and parted before him. The cold air brushed against his face from time to time, pushing his dark black hair backward. Both of his eyes were closed, yet he never stumbled. Instead, he looked as though he were taking a leisurely stroll through the garden of his own home.
In his hand, he dragged long strands behind him. At first glance, one might mistake them for ropes...
But anyone who looked closely would realize the horrifying truth.
They were not ropes.
They were strands of human hair trailing across the ground behind him.
As he continued forward, the silence of the forest was pierced by the screams of four men—screams of pain and despair.
"And now... you may begin. Just remember... don't let me find you first."
The words reached Arthur's ears. He paused for a moment before continuing onward until the scene opened before him.
The First Prince and three of his men lay on the ground, bloody holes piercing through their chests, while Zhuo Fan stood before them with a cold expression.
"My dear First Prince... I have finally found you."
Arthur entered the scene calmly.
Everyone's eyes widened in shock.
Since the beginning of the battle, Arthur had never appeared. Everyone had assumed that once he saw Little Moon dead, he would lose his mind and charge directly into the Prince's trap, turning the area into a massacre.
But Arthur had been delayed.
None of them knew that the Prince had sent his lover to eliminate Arthur.
Zhuo Fan stepped forward and examined Arthur carefully.
"Where were you?"
Arthur smiled calmly, as though nothing had happened.
"Oh... you know. Here and there. I was looking for Little Moon."
The moment he spoke her name, the First Prince's body shook violently, and fear appeared on his face.
"And?" Zhuo Fan asked.
"Yes. I found her dead."
Silence filled the area.
Zhuo Fan froze in place.
He was not as attached to Little Moon as Arthur had been, yet Arthur's calmness was troubling...
Unnatural.
Had he finally lost his mind?
Or had something even deeper shattered within him?
Zhuo Fan stared at him in disbelief.
Arthur smiled once more and spoke lightly:
"Ah, First Prince... I brought your lover with me."
He pulled on the strands forcefully.
Something moved behind him.
Then a mutilated corpse slid into view before everyone's eyes, split in half and stripped of any recognizable human features.
No one could identify it.
"You bastard—"
The Prince suddenly stopped.
Zhuo Fan raised his gaze toward him, and the pain inside the First Prince's head exploded, forcibly silencing his anger.
Arthur stepped forward and stood before the Prince.
"Are you angry?
I'm sorry. I truly didn't mean to upset you.
I swear."
Arthur apologized sincerely and lowered his head toward the ground in a complete bow.
Silence engulfed the area.
Zhuo Fan looked at Arthur.
And finally understood.
"So... you've broken."
Arthur raised his head.
A twisted smile stretched across his face, a smile that could only be described as truly disgusting.
His teeth were completely exposed.
The corners of his lips nearly reached his ears.
His eyes were opened at a strange, revolting angle.
For the first time in his life, Zhuo Fan's body trembled.
Arthur suddenly slammed his forehead into the ground.
The earth shattered beneath the impact as his head buried itself into the soil.
Then he lifted it and struck again.
A third time.
A fourth.
"Damn this annoying noise."
Arthur cursed before raising both arms and slamming his hands against his ears with unbelievable force, tearing them open.
Blood flowed from his ears.
Yet Arthur smiled happily.
"Finally... the noise is gone."
He closed his eyes peacefully and smiled with relief.
"All those voices keep telling me to kill the Prince.
But I don't want to kill him."
Arthur opened his eyes and looked at Zhuo Fan.
"I don't want to kill him, I swear.
I swear to you.
Please believe me."
Zhuo Fan closed his eyes painfully at the sight of his companion's condition.
He had truly lost all reason and sanity.
Zhuo Fan sighed and placed a hand on Arthur's shoulder.
"I believe you."
Arthur smiled happily as he looked at Zhuo Fan.
Then he lowered his head and rested it against Zhuo Fan's chest.
"You know...
I killed my father because I was a worthless fool who couldn't see or understand what had happened.
That pain and regret...
That disgust...
That shame...
Can you kill me?"
Zhuo Fan opened his eyes in surprise.
Arthur looked at him sincerely, pleadingly.
"Kill me.
Kill me.
I don't wish to live anymore.
I truly mean it.
All my brothers are dead.
My mother died because of the clan's laws that kept her away, and I destroyed the clan.
My father died by my own hand.
What do I have left now?"
Zhuo Fan did not answer.
He remained silent, unable to speak.
Then Arthur smiled calmly and moved away.
Arthur continued walking, dragging the corpse behind him as one would drag a dead dog.
Then he spoke with terrifying calmness while looking at the Prince, as though the previous conversation had never happened.
"You achieved your goal, First Prince.
You completely broke me...
But even so, you're a fool."
He continued as though telling an ordinary story:
"When I found Little Moon dead, anger nearly consumed me.
I almost came to you and shattered the earth above your head regardless of the cost.
But..."
He paused briefly.
"Then I discovered she had lost her virginity as well...
And by your hand, I imagine."
His voice lowered.
"At that moment...
My heart broke.
I shattered."
He raised his head and smiled a lifeless smile.
"At that moment, if your foolish lover had drawn her weapon and cut off my head, I truly would have died.
Well, not completely, but you understand what I mean."
Arthur stood before the Prince, his eyes empty.
"But afterward...
Your whore showed me a past I desperately wished to forget.
Then...
I went insane."
He began smashing his own head with his hand.
His laughter was deranged.
Blood flowed from his scalp and forehead.
The strands of the Prince's lover's hair snapped apart, and her corpse fell to the ground.
"Now, as you can see...
I am nothing.
I am not Arthur.
I am not a brother, nor a friend, nor a person of value.
I am simply a madman."
He paused before turning toward Zhuo Fan.
"Zhuo, as I see it...
You're controlling them, aren't you?"
"Yes."
"Good.
I want to fight him now."
The expressions around them stiffened.
"If he kills me, then that is exactly what I want.
Afterward, you can control him however you wish and do whatever you want with him.
And if I win...
I'll take him with me."
Then he added coldly:
"And remember...
I am not asking.
If you stand in my way, I will kill you without hesitation."
Zhuo Fan slowly sighed as he accepted the bitter truth.
Arthur was no longer Arthur.
"Very well, First Prince.
You have one opportunity.
Defeat Arthur in a one-on-one fight...
And I will let you leave."
In the next instant, the First Prince charged forward like a raging beast and punched Arthur in the head with tremendous force, launching him into the air.
The Prince leapt upward, clasped both hands together, and smashed them into Arthur's back while he was airborne.
A crack echoed across the battlefield as Arthur's spine shattered.
Arthur fell like a meteor, carving an enormous crater into the earth.
The Prince's hand transformed into a golden dragon claw, and he dove into the crater, striking mercilessly.
Dust erupted everywhere.
Moments later, the Prince emerged, his body covered in Arthur's blood.
"You damned bastard...
How dare you touch what belongs to me!"
He spat into the crater before walking toward the naked corpse and embracing it with twisted sorrow.
Everyone stood stunned.
They had expected a massacre...
Not a humiliating defeat like this.
Then a calm voice rose from the crater.
"Tell me, dear Prince...
Were you the one who did it?"
The dust dispersed.
A figure slowly emerged.
It was Arthur.
His body was healing before their eyes.
"I mean...
Were you the one who did that to Little Moon?"
The Prince stood proudly.
"Yes.
I was."
"And if time were reversed?"
A heavy silence filled the battlefield.
"I would do it again...
And again...
Until I was satisfied."
Arthur smiled.
A genuine smile.
A happy smile.
He wiped the tears from his eyes.
"Thank you...
Thank you, First Prince."
Everyone thought he was thanking him for what he had done.
But the smile disappeared.
The tears vanished.
"Thank you for being honest...
And not running from it."
His voice dropped to a deadly whisper:
"Now...
I can do whatever I want...
Without regret."
