Chapter 88 – The Invitation to "Mission: Impossible – Fallout"
THE MORNING AFTER THE SUPER BOWL
Sunlight streamed through the curtains of the hotel in Houston, Texas, where Jacob Stewart was still staying. The previous night had been one of the most intense he had ever experienced.
The Super Bowl had been legendary: the Patriots winning epically, an unforgettable Lady Gaga performance, and a post-game party full of celebrities and supermodels.
Now, reality was knocking at the door.
Jacob's cell phone vibrated intensely on the bedside table. He fumbled with the device in his still sleepy hand and saw the name flashing on the screen:
Jacob sighed and answered.
— JACOB (hoarse voice): "Richard… do you know what time it is?"
— RICHARD (excited): "Yes, 9 a.m. And you should be awake for this call. Trust me."
— JACOB: "If this isn't important..."
— RICHARD: "Tom Cruise wants you for the next Mission: Impossible."
Jacob immediately woke up, his eyes widening, and he sat up quickly in bed.
— JACOB: "What? Are you serious?"
— RICHARD: "Absolutely. The villain role that was intended for Henry Cavill is now vacant, and they want you."
— JACOB: "Wait a minute… You're saying I'm going to be the main antagonist?"
— RICHARD: "Yes, Jacob. You facing Tom Cruise. The villain from Mission: Impossible - Fallout."
Jacob ran a hand over his face, absorbing the information.
Mission: Impossible was one of the biggest action franchises in the world. Tom Cruise did his own stunts, and the action scenes were insane.
This role would be a turning point in his career.
— JACOB: "Okay… what do I need to do?"
— RICHARD: "First, you need to talk to Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie, the director. They want a meeting TODAY, via Zoom."
— JACOB: "Right. What time?"
— RICHARD: "At 2 PM, LA time."
— JACOB: "Then I need to catch a flight NOW."
He jumped out of bed, already planning his return to Los Angeles.
A few hours later, Jacob was aboard a private jet, courtesy of the studio responsible for the film.
During the flight, he reviewed some information about the film, trying to mentally prepare for the meeting.
The role originally belonged to Henry Cavill, but due to scheduling conflicts, the actor couldn't participate. This opened up a huge opportunity for Jacob.
And he had no intention of wasting it.
Once in Los Angeles, Jacob arrived home with enough time to prepare for the Zoom meeting. He put on a fitted black shirt, splashed some water on his face, and sat down in front of his laptop.
A few minutes later, the call began.
On the screen were Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie.
— TOM CRUISE (smiling): "Jacob! We finally meet. I'm a big fan of your work."
— JACOB (smiling back): "Tom, the pleasure is all mine. I grew up watching Mission: Impossible."
— CHRISTOPHER: "Let's get straight to the point. We need an antagonist who not only has presence but can also perform high-level action scenes. Your work in John Wick 2 proved you have what it takes."
Jacob nodded, paying attention.
— TOM CRUISE: "Jacob, I do all my own stunts. That means if you accept this role, you'll be training hard. You'll be jumping out of planes, fighting in real environments, and undergoing intense tactical training." — JACOB: "I already do shooting and martial arts training. I'm ready for any challenge."
Tom and Christopher exchanged satisfied glances.
— CHRISTOPHER: "Great. Your character will be a rogue CIA agent, a direct rival of Ethan Hunt. We need someone who can convey a real threat."
— TOM CRUISE: "Jacob, I want raw and intense fight scenes between the two of us. I want the viewers to believe you can take me down."
— JACOB (smiling): "Tom, I respect you a lot, but in the ring… I don't hold back."
Tom laughed loudly, clearly liking the answer.
— TOM CRUISE: "That's what I like! Welcome to Mission: Impossible!"
The next day, Jacob went to the Paramount studios to officially sign the contract.
The document was worth millions, guaranteeing not only an excellent salary, but also percentages of the global box office. Richard Calloway stood beside him as he signed the pages.
— RICHARD: "Congratulations, Jacob. This will change your career forever."
— JACOB (smiling): "Now I'm officially Tom Cruise's villain. Let's make history."
As he left the studios, the news quickly leaked to the media.
Headlines appeared within minutes:
"Jacob Stewart will be the villain in Mission: Impossible - Fallout!"
"John Wick vs. Ethan Hunt? Jacob Stewart confirmed as the new antagonist!"
"Jacob Stewart will replace Henry Cavill in the new Mission: Impossible!"
On social media, fans exploded with excitement.
"Oh my God, Jacob Stewart facing off against Tom Cruise? This is going to be legendary!"
"John Wick now versus Ethan Hunt? This movie is going to be INSANE!"
"Jacob is perfect for the role. He has the physique, the presence, and the fighting skills!"
Jacob watched the online reaction and smiled.
Now, he had a new challenge ahead of him.
And he was ready to make it unforgettable.
Chapter 89 – Leaping into the Challenge
Los Angeles, February 2017
Jacob Stewart could hardly believe it.
He was officially cast as the main antagonist in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, facing none other than Tom Cruise.
Filming wouldn't begin until April, but he didn't want to waste any time.
If Tom Cruise did his own stunts, Jacob would do his too.
And the first thing he wanted to learn?
High-altitude parachuting.
He wanted to perform the HALO Jump (High Altitude – Low Opening) stunts himself.
No stunt doubles.
Jacob was at home when he received a video call from his agent, Richard Calloway.
— RICHARD: "So, Jacob… I just spoke with the producers. They're excited about you in the film."
— JACOB (smiling): "Great. I'm excited too."
— RICHARD: "But there's a catch. The physical and tactical training will be intense. You'll need to learn hand-to-hand combat, advanced shooting… and, of course, parachuting."
— JACOB: "I'm already one step ahead. I want to start training for parachuting as soon as possible."
Richard raised an eyebrow, surprised.
— RICHARD: "You REALLY want to do this alone?"
— JACOB (seriously): "If Tom Cruise can do it, I can too."
Richard laughed, but he knew Jacob wasn't joking.
— RICHARD: "Alright. I'll get you an elite instructor. In a few days, you'll be jumping out of planes."
— JACOB: "Bring on the challenges."
A few days later, Jacob traveled to a military training center in San Diego, where the world's best parachutists trained.
He was greeted by Mike Reynolds, a Special Forces veteran and HALO jump instructor.
Mike was a tough guy in his early forties, with sun-tanned skin and a sharp gaze.
— MIKE: "You're the actor who wants to jump out of a plane without a stunt double?"
— JACOB (smiling): "Exactly."
— MIKE: "Well, you're in the right place. But let me warn you: this is no joke. The HALO Jump is one of the most dangerous jumps there is."
— JACOB: "I like challenges."
Mike nodded, assessing Jacob.
— MIKE: "We'll see if you can handle it. Let's start with the basics."
Before anything else, Jacob needed to learn the fundamentals of skydiving.
He spent the day in a huge wind chamber, simulating the sensation of freefall.
The instructors adjusted his posture, ensuring he had complete control of his body in the air.
— MIKE: "If you don't position yourself correctly, you'll spin out of control. And if you panic, you could lose yourself at altitude."
— JACOB: "Understood."
After several hours of practice, Mike finally said:
— MIKE: "I think you're ready for your first real jump."
The next day, Jacob was already dressed in full gear:
✔️ Black skydiving suit
✔️ Helmet and special goggles
✔️ Main and reserve parachutes
He boarded a C-130 military plane, which would take them to 4,000 meters altitude for their first jump.
Inside the plane, Jacob's heart was racing.
Next to him, Mike checked all the equipment.
— MIKE: "Remember: maintain your posture. Look at the horizon. Control your breathing."
— JACOB (swallowing hard): "Understood."
The plane's rear door opened, and a strong, icy wind entered the cabin.
Jacob looked down.
The ground was very, VERY far away.
— MIKE: "Ready?!"
— JACOB (smiling): "Always."
Mike gave the signal, and Jacob threw himself into the void.
The air roared around him as he fell at over 200 km/h.
The sensation was one of absolute freedom.
He maintained his posture, exactly as he had trained, controlling his fall.
The ground approached rapidly, and he waited for the right moment before pulling the parachute.
CLACK!
The parachute opened perfectly, and Jacob floated smoothly to the ground.
Upon landing, he raised his arms in celebration.
— JACOB: "THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!"
— MIKE (laughing): "Not bad for a Hollywood actor."
But that was just the beginning.
In the following days, Jacob increased the altitude of his jumps.
From 4,000 meters, he went to 7,000 meters… then to 10,000 meters.
And finally, 15,000 meters: the height of a true HALO Jump.
Now, he was jumping with full military equipment, including:
✔️ Oxygen tank
✔️ Flight suit for freezing temperatures
✔️ Breathing mask
In his last jumps, he not only jumped from the plane, but also practiced precise landings, landing exactly on the marked spot on the ground.
Mike couldn't have been more impressed.
— MIKE: "Jacob, I've trained Special Forces soldiers, and I'll be honest: you have a natural talent for this."
— JACOB (smiling): "And I'm just getting started."
The media quickly noticed Jacob's training. Photos of him jumping from airplanes leaked online, and headlines quickly emerged:
"Jacob Stewart is doing parachute jumps for Mission: Impossible – Fallout!"
"Actor will forgo stunt doubles in dangerous scenes!"
"Jacob Stewart following in Tom Cruise's footsteps!"
On social media, fans exploded with excitement:
"The guy isn't messing around! He's doing the jumps for real!"
"That's dedication! Jacob is going to be the BEST villain in the franchise."
"I can't wait to see his scene jumping from 15,000 meters!"
Even Tom Cruise posted a comment on Jacob's Instagram:
"Impressive. I can't wait to see you in action!"
Jacob responded only with a parachute emoji and a:
"See you in the skies, Tom."
Now, he was ready for the next challenge.
Filming would begin in April…
And Jacob would steal the show.
