Chapter 96 - Sarutobi Asuma

The two of them strolled around the street for a while.

Kuro stopped at the entrance of a restaurant, looked at Rokuro, and asked, "Have you seen enough? If you've seen enough, let's get something to eat and find an inn to rest for the night!"

Rokuro looked at the restaurant, then looked at Kuro. "Aren't you going to wander around the red-light district? Don't you usually go to those kinds of places? Why aren't you going today?!"

Kuro glared at Rokuro.

At his advanced age, he wasn't what he was ten years ago.

Right now, all he wanted to do was lie down and not move. He had absolutely no mood to wander around any red-light district.

Besides!

With his physical condition.

Going to a red-light district would just shave a few months off his life.

After glaring at Rokuro, Kuro pulled him into the restaurant. "Let's eat. You kid better shut your stinking mouth. One more word of nonsense and I won't bother with you anymore!"

Rokuro chuckled and followed Kuro into the restaurant.

In the evening!

There were many people drinking.

But not many people eating meals.

There was only one table of customers in the shop, and there were plenty of empty seats.

Kuro found a corner seat by the window, sat down, and waited.

Before long!

A waiter came over.

Kuro ordered seven or eight dishes, and the waiter left to prepare them.

Next up!

Was just waiting for the food to be served.

During this boring time, Rokuro looked out the window at the street.

Looking!

And looking!

Rokuro suddenly spotted a familiar face.

And the other party seemed to be walking right toward their location.

Rokuro watched for a moment, then hurriedly said to Kuro, "Master, look at those two guys outside. Isn't one of them the old man's son, Sarutobi Asuma?!"

Hearing this.

Kuro looked out the window.

Upon seeing them, he immediately stood up. "It seems it really is. By the looks of it, they are heading right for us. It might be specifically arranged by Lord Hokage, otherwise, he wouldn't come looking for us!"

Makes sense!

Them coming to the royal capital of the Land of Fire.

Was a mission originally arranged by Hiruzen.

It was perfectly normal for him to notify his son in advance that they were coming over.

However!

Why was Asuma here?!

Based on what he understood, over ten years ago, Asuma had indeed run off to the royal capital of the Land of Fire and joined something called the Twelve Guardian Ninja. But six years ago, internal conflict caused the Twelve Guardian Ninja to disband, and Asuma had returned to Konoha.

Right now, Asuma.

Should be a Konoha Jonin who normally went out on missions.

In the year he had been in Konoha Village, he didn't think he had ever seen Asuma return to the village.

While Rokuro was thinking.

Kuro had already walked to the door to welcome Asuma. "Asuma, what brings you here?"

Asuma looked at Kuro, then looked back into the restaurant at Rokuro, who was staring at him curiously. He smiled and said, "Senior Kuro, the old man asked me to come check on you two. Seeing that you are both doing well, I can go report back!"

Kuro shook his head. "Checking on that bastard Rokuro, you mean. Well, you can rest assured about that. On the way here, he single-handedly exterminated a mountain bandit fort and left no survivors!"

Asuma was somewhat surprised. "No way, that kid is that ruthless? He looks completely fine to me. Did you give him psychological counseling, Senior Kuro?"

Kuro felt a bit helpless and sighed. "I wanted to, but unfortunately, this kid just isn't normal. Not only did he kill people, but he also robbed them, taking every last bit of wealth from their fort!"

Uh!

Asuma and his companion exchanged a glance, their expressions looking a bit bizarre.

"Since you're here, come in and have a seat!"

After chatting for a bit, Kuro invited the two of them into the restaurant.

After bringing Asuma and his companion to sit down opposite Rokuro, Kuro waved for the waiter again, ordered over a dozen more dishes, and then returned to his seat.

As Kuro sat down.

He looked at Asuma and said, "You've been here at the Daimyo's estate, in charge of negotiating matters with the Daimyo. It's already been two years, right? Why hasn't the Hokage transferred you back?"

Asuma took a drag from his cigarette and shook his head. "Who can guess the old man's thoughts? I figure I might have to stay for a while longer. I guess it's because I'm relatively familiar with the Daimyo!"

Kuro shook his head. "With your strength, staying here is just a waste. I really don't know what Lord Hokage is thinking!"

Asuma glanced at Rokuro and said with a smile, "I actually want to be like you, Senior—go back, take on a disciple, and live a leisurely life. But that seems very difficult!"

Kuro also glanced at Rokuro and complained, "Don't think taking on a disciple is easy. This little brat loves causing trouble the most. I figure I'm going to have a lot of headaches in the future!"

Asuma chuckled. "It's normal for little brats to be a bit lively. For you to be able to take a genius as a disciple, Senior Kuro, bearing some of the troubles that come with a genius is only to be expected!"

Kuro smiled bitterly.

Looking at Rokuro's proud face, he felt utterly speechless.
