Chapter 9: Canon Begins
[Theo Raeken POV]:
After pulling up in his truck, Theo, still partially distracted from the intensely unusual—though not unwelcome—dream the night before, stayed in his truck a minute to re-center himself.
The girl from the evening prior seemed to take over his mind as his new, quiet obsession. She was everything as he remembered from when he was 8—if a bit older, that is. Mysterious. Pretty. Radiating a quiet but formidable power.
'I wonder if she could tell me why I keep waking up in the Preserve at the edge of town so often,' Theo pondered. 'Or about the golden glow I've seen in my eyes a few times... Maybe I should ask about it when next I see her...'
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
A series of knocks at his truck door knocked Theo from his thoughts, forcing him to grimace as he looked and saw an annoyingly enthusiastic Stiles Stilinski waving him to come out.
Theo sighed. 'Why do I stay friends with this guy?'
But he dragged himself out of his truck and up to his friend, who was currently talking with Scott now.
"Okay, let's see this thing," Stiles said, looking one twitch away from bouncing himself to the moon.
"Oooh!" he reached for the wound on Scott's side, stopping only when Scott twitched away.
"It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf," Scott said, slinging his backpack over his shoulders as the trio headed in.
"A wolf bit you?" Stiles questioned, to which Scott nodded.
"Nope. No, not a chance."
"I heard a wolf howling," Scott offered.
"No you didn't," Stiles said bluntly.
"What do you mean 'No I didn't'? How do you know what I heard?" Scott asked, perplexed.
"Because California doesn't have wolves, okay?" Stiles laughed, clearly amused. "Not in like a 100 years."
To this, Theo decided to keep the fact that he definitely heard howling to himself. Voicing his observation would just start Stiles' tirade on the subject, and Theo didn't have the patience for that this morning.
Instead, he tuned out his friends, looking around him and taking in his environment for the 50th time since arriving.
He didn't think much of it. He was used to being environmentally aware—more so than even his friends, Scott and Stiles, who were supposed to be older by half a year and sophomores.
It was as he was turning behind that he saw her.
Madison... No. Not Madison. Hazel, Theo remembered.
She was exiting the passenger seat of a black 2011 BMW 3 Series, alongside her brother—or her twin, Theo noticed—Mason Hewitt, the nerd from 4th grade.
[BMW Reference Image Available on Discord & WebNovel]:
Her brown-black hair was pulled up into a braided ponytail. Her naturally golden-brown (almost orange) eyes seemed to pierce souls in the sunlight and she wore a pair of grey skinny jeans below a white shirt with orange trimmings and an orange, grey and black patterned flannel. She wore white and orange tennis shoes and had her white jacket tied around her waist.
She looked like a goddess to Theo's eyes, and managed to turn many heads as she exited her father's coup.
"I know, father. Mason and I will take care of each other," she was speaking silently, but despite the distance, Theo could hear her very clearly somehow. "Yeah. We will. I've gotta go. The bell's about to ring."
"We always look after each other, father," Mason was saying. "WHen do we not?"
"Yeah, yeah," their dad said from the driver's seat. "Just don't get bullied. Actually, Hazel never gets bullied. What I mean is don't let Mason get bullied—for being smart. Or gay."
"Dad!" the twins nearly raised their voices.
"Okay, okay," the dad said, relenting.
We have the Hales to sit with us for lunch. Cora and Sean are good to us," Hazel said.
"And I can take care of myself, dad," Mason shot back.
"You acting like the smartest in the room will make your bullies want to... well, bully you more, you know," his dad warned.
"That's because I am the smartest in the room," Mason said. "Besides, I have Liam to have my back this year. And Hazel. Between the two of them, I would say I'm pretty safe."
"He'll be fine, dad," Hazel emphasized. "We both will. I promise."
The sound of a chuckle being released sounded and the twins quickly left before their father changed his mind and decided to embarrass them more.
As they walked past Theo, Theo couldn't help but lock eyes with Hazel, who smiled brightly with a wave—A direct contrast to her alter ego.
If Theo hadn't seen the Sun mark Madison mentioned the night before, Theo wouldn't have known they were the same person.
Theo was about to wave back, when Stiles' voice sounded beside him.
"Hello! Earth to Theo! Are you with us?!"
'What a grating voice,' Theo thought honestly in annoyance. 'Why am I friends with this guy again?'
"Theo! Hello!" Stiles tried again.
"I can hear you, Stiles. I'm not deaf," Theo rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"I don't know. You seem pretty lost to me," Stiles teased.
"Why am I friends with you idiots again?" Theo asked aloud.
"Because we're the only group who enjoys your company," Stiles grinned a toothy smile.
"Or tolerate your loner-emo-badboy aesthetic without gagging."
Theo ignored him. Deep down, he knew he could make new friends if he wanted to. He was a good enough actor—He was quite the actor, actually—It's just, he didn't feel the need to put up an act with those two. And, deep down, somewhere along the way, a small—a very, very small—part of Theo had gotten attached to them.
Theo was dressed in a black shirt, black jeans and a very nice black jacket with the sleeves rolled up halfway. A black alternative bracelet was attached to his left wrist and a really nice electronic watch was attached to his right. He wore a nice pair of boots—not leather boots but dark, rugged combat boots that seemed to match his aesthetic effortlessly. Atop his head, he wore a dark beanie that somehow enhanced his facial features.
Theo Raeken might be a bit edgy, but he had style and no one could deny that. And unlike his friends, he could get a girlfriend if he wanted. He had the face, the body, the build, and even the attitude to match. At only 16, he held a black and purple circle due to the stillness of his youth. Theo never lacked charm when it mattered.
'But people are annoying, two-faced and genuinely not worth it,' Theo would think every time he'd consider getting a girlfriend. 'Maybe not her, though. No, never her...'
"Oh, God," Stiles was saying. "That is freaking awesome. I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since... since the birth of Lydia Martin. Hey, Lydia, you look…like you're gonna ignore me."
"You make it too easy." Theo chuckled as he walked past, leaving Stiles to blame Scott for his being a "nerd by association," tidbit.
[Liam Dunbar:]
It was lunch, and Liam was making his way to Mason's table; the one that was shared between him and his twin sister, Hazel.
Liam was not happy.
Because of the accident with the coach's car, Liam had to transfer schools. Not only that, but change sports as well. Given everything, transferring from Lacrosse to Football wasn't the worst. It gave Liam plenty of ways to direct his anger. Plus, it helped that he was almost as good in Football as he was in Lacrosse. Thanks to practicing countless amount of hours in the summer break, he'd even made it onto first line.
Unfortunately, so did that arrogant bastard that reminded Liam of Brett—the one and only Theo Raeken. It did not help that he was admittedly good looking. That didn't help at all.
Liam's fingers clenched the edge of the tray the more that he thought of that prick. He was the only one on the football field who could match Liam, one for one, and the guy's constant smirking whenever he tackled Liam only served to infuriate him even more.
What makes matters worse was the fact that Liam was certain he had had a dream the night before—a weird one where he was pleasured unlike he's ever been before — Not just by a girl, though, but by both Theo, who he hadn't even met yet, and Brett, who he absolutely despised—and he will never tell a soul, but, damn did he enjoy it.
He woke up that morning in a surprisingly wet pool of his own fluids, rocking a stiff, hard boner. It was humiliating, and not exactly conductive for someone with IED. The realization that he had came in his sleep to not only Brett, but a guy he's not yet even met was nearly enough to make him explode in anger. It probably didn't help that the other guy was also an asshole.
Liam was contemplating if he had type somehow…
Shaking his head, trying to calm himself, Liam strode through the mess as he found the table of the cafeteria with Mason and his twin sister, Hazel, and her friends, who Liam would later learn to be Sean Hale and Cora Hale.
Liam has had the biggest crush on Hazel ever since they were kids. In fact, it's not surprising that the girl in his dreams—the one from the wet dream—was Hazel.
So, when he noticed the seat beside her was occupied by Theo himself, fat, lazy, springing up inside Liam. Alongside an undercurrent of arousal and anger, as he remembered the dream featuring both of them last night.
Unprompted, even before he could storm over, he eyed Theo's lidded eyes and the prick smiled. Actually smiled.
Liam made his way to the table, sitting across from Mason, radiating an ever-present fury that bubbled eternally just under the surface.
He was dressed in blue jeans, a simple white T-shirt, some white and black Converse, and a blue denim jacket. A pretty simple fit that Liam's worn hundreds of times. Only this time, as he stared at Hazel after absentmindedly greeting Mason and Sean, he couldn't help but wish he had worn something nicer…
That night, after staying after school for hours, practicing drills and returning home only after blowing off enough steam on the field, Liam took a nice, hot shower that lasted a good half hour.
When he exited the shower, towel around his waist, making his way out the bathroom, across the hall to his bedroom — But, as he flicks on the light, he nearly screamed out in surprise over who's standing before him.
She wore dark colors, so unlike how Liam typically saw her in—and the mark on her forehead was also very different. But it was her.
"Hazel," he whispered—shouted, ensuring the hold on his towel was secure enough. "What are you doing here? How the Hell did you even get inside my room?!"
Hazel non-commentedly gestured to the open window overlooking the giant tree beside the house.
"I'm a really good climber," Hazel said, almost sounding impressed with herself. "Also, I'm not Hazel. I'm her alter ego."
"What?" Liam frowned, confused. "If you're not Hazel, then who are you?"
"I am her. And she is me. But, also, not. It's complicated," Not Hazel stated plainly. "You may call me Madison. Now, I'm just going to cut to the chase without fancy wordplay: Do you want the power to catch up to Theo?"
"What?" asked Liam, puzzled.
"I said," Madison said slowly, "Do you want the power to match Theo? Because I can give it to you, but you need only ask."
Liam pondered this for a moment. Realistically, if he were truthful with himself, he knew Theo was the better football player. As a linebacker, Liam was quite talented—fast and nimble with an above average build of strength. Though Theo was a linebacker that was deadset on leaving a multitude of bruises on his body.
'Is the reason he felt almost supernaturally strong...because he is actually supernatural,' Liam pondered, lost to his thoughts.
He knew Beacon Hills wasn't a natural town. As a native, he'd seen the signs long ago, even as a kid. He wasn't nearly as smart as his friend, Mason, but Liam Dunbar was not an idiot—or, perhaps, not a COMPLETE idiot, anyway.
'She's offering to make me one…,' Liam stated, clearly still contemplating. 'Could she actually pull it off?'
"Can you actually do it?" Liam asked, turning to Not-Hazel. "If you can, I'll have it."
"It will be exceptionally painful, wolf boy," Madison said. "And you'll have to seak out Sean and Cora Hale to help you gain control over your abilities during the day, as I'm only active at night. Also, Hazel doesn't know I exist within her, nor can she, so I can't aid you during the sun-shinning hours. You still want it? The spark?"
Liam gulped, then nodded.
"Come closer," Madison gestured forward, as Liam complied.
Madison placed both her palms on either side of Liam's temples, eyes closed in concentration.
The pain came first. And hard. By the time Liam had even registered it, he was on his back, spasming from the agony. There were no visions, no images. Just pain. Pure, electrifying pain that shot through every nerve in Liam's body.
It was so great that Liam eventually had to pass out, the last thing he became aware of was Not-Hazel's apathetic expression showing just a hint of emotion —- Specifically, pride.
Then all went dark and Liam went under.
[Madison POV]:
Madison stood over Liam's unconscious form, the silhouette of Sean Hale beside her as she watched Liam sleep in his bed after telekinetically tucking him in, A peaceful expression devoid of all its previous agony blessing his relaxed features.
"So you can create supernaturals..." Sean said blankly, ever the observer.
"Yes," Madison said.
"And you can create sparks?" Sean asked.
"Yes," Madison said.
"And you gave this kid the spark?" Sean asked.
"Yes... plus a few other things," Madison stated calmly. "He's basically a werewolf... with added benefits. You should take him under your wing. As a born wolf, he'll need your tutelage."
"I will," Sean nodded in acceptance. "My brother, Derek, has his hands full with a newly bitten Scott McCall. Looks like I will be having my own hands full with the new beta, Liam. But that's fine. I've always wanted a little brother beta. At least, I'm no longer the youngest in the pack anymore."
Madison turned to Sean. "Thank you, Sean. This means a lot."
"Of course," Sean nodded. "You're like my little sister. You needed an accomplice, and I would rather they be me than someone slimmy or untrustworthy."
A silence passed between them, shattered only by moments later as Sean asks, "Are you intending to go home now?"
"Now?" Madison asks. "No. The moon's barely risen a crescent. I've got much to do tonight, plans to jump into motion. You should probably expect the creation of a second beta being made pretty soon. I've have made you an alpha to be able to control them all, but that would bring unnecessary attention to us way too soon — Attention we are not yet ready for."
Sean nodded.
"You're scheming again, Mai," Sean muttered.
"Someone's got to," Madison grinned.
Then, vanishing in a blink, Madison was gone, leaving an astonished Sean Hale there to look after a sleeping newly turned werewolf.
"Just my luck..." Sean muttered to himself. "Hopefully, you won't disappoint, eh, Liam?"
Walking away, Sean climbed out the window, onto the lawn and vanished into the night like a phantom.

P.S.: A time skip is soon coming. The timeline itself is messy, but that's to be expected, I guess. Furthermore, smut scenes will not occur until later, when the characters are older.
Also, Liam, Mason and everyone from the younger pack are aged up here. Just FYI.
