The Crossing
My name is Haruto Tanaka.
I open my eyes.
I am standing in the center of Shibuya Crossing. Thousands of people walk around me. Cars move. Lights change. Everyone is busy.
But I am not panic. I am normal. Very normal.
Too normal.
I think, Oh. I am reincarnated in this 2D world.
I should be excited. People in stories always cry or scream or run around when they reincarnate. But I am not excited. I feel nothing. Just... normal.
Then I look up at the sky.
"Hello, author," I say. "Are you writing my story? So please make good story."
Then I stop.
What the fuck am I saying?
I watch anime and 2D fiction because it feels different from movies and series. It has its own rules. Its own colors. But now I am inside it. And I am talking to the sky like a crazy person.
People go here and there. Left and right. They walk around me like water around a rock. I am still in the center. A human island.
I sigh.
"What a boring day," I say. "I reincarnated in an anime world. But what should I do?"
I look at a boy walking past me. He has spiky hair and a school bag. Very anime.
I think, Is there anime law here? Does it work?
I push the boy. Just a little push. On his shoulder.
"Oh, sorry," I say.
The boy spins around. His eyes become big and shiny. He waves his hands fast in front of his face.
"Ok, ok!" he says. "I am ok! No problem! Really!"
Then he runs away.
I stand there. I look at my hand.
"Wow," I tell myself. "What a world. He acted like a new law. The anime law is working."
People still move around me. The light turns red. Then green. The world continues.
I tell myself, "Should I go? Or not?"
I do not know.
I just stand there.
