Chapter 129 - The Awakening of the Kingpin, Emperor of the Underworld

The moment Chen Ye stepped out of the restaurant, he couldn't help frowning.

The once-familiar streets were now in complete chaos.

The community that had once been orderly and stable now resembled a pot of boiling porridge. Residents ran about in panic, their faces filled with fear, helplessness, and despair.

All of it was the result of the federal government's policy to wipe out Hell's Kitchen.

Like a merciless sledgehammer, they had shattered the order that everyone had worked so hard to build.

"Can't we get other media outlets to help explain the truth? Hell's Kitchen isn't what they think it is."

Pietro's voice interrupted Chen Ye's thoughts.

His eyes were filled with frustration and unwillingness, as though protesting against the unfairness of the world.

Chen Ye turned to look at him and sighed.

"They won't understand our efforts. All they see is the crime on the surface. They never see how much we've sacrificed to change this place."

Pietro clenched his fists.

"They can't be this unreasonable!"

His voice trembled with anger.

Hearing that, Chen Ye let out a cold laugh.

Reason?

That's something only the weak need.

The strong only need their fists.

A fist is power.

And what the federal government didn't understand was—

Who the truly strong were.

Turning back into the restaurant, Chen Ye looked at Pietro with unwavering determination.

"Get ready. A war is coming."

His voice carried absolute resolve.

Pietro's gaze sharpened instantly, like a predator preparing to hunt.

Meanwhile, Dogpool gave a military salute, indicating that he was ready as well.

Hell's Kitchen Community Academy

Inside the principal's office, the atmosphere was heavy.

Doctor Octopus frowned as he held a resignation letter in his hand.

"The situation is getting worse. Many teachers and professors have already left."

Looking around at everyone present, he continued:

"Not only that, some parents are withdrawing their children from school. They're worried about their safety."

The Punisher slammed a fist into the wall.

His eyes burned with anger and frustration.

He had finally found a stable life in Hell's Kitchen.

He could see his son every day.

And now it seemed that the federal government was about to destroy all of that again.

"Damn federal government..."

he muttered through gritted teeth.

As principal, Kingpin sat calmly in his chair, smoking a cigar.

The smoke obscured much of his expression.

"How many people are still here?" he asked.

Master Ye, seated on a sofa with his cane-sword resting before him, replied:

"There are still over three hundred children in the school. Most of them are orphans with nowhere else to go."

"As for faculty and security personnel, there are around thirty of us left. They're all our own people."

Kingpin nodded.

Taking a deep drag from his cigar, he slowly exhaled.

Then he looked at Master Ye.

"The school is in your hands."

"William and Frank, you'll stay with Master Ye."

Master Ye nodded solemnly.

He understood the weight of the responsibility.

He would protect these children as though they were his own.

Sandman, William Baker, spoke up as well.

"Don't worry. The children's future is safe with me."

His eyes were filled with affection.

At the academy's daycare center, he often saw children around the same age as his daughter.

Every time he looked at them, he thought of her.

He had already decided to spend the rest of his life here, protecting them.

The Punisher's eyes filled with determination and killing intent.

"I won't let anyone disrupt my son's life ever again—even if it costs me my own."

Nick Fury had already contacted him the day before, urging him to take his son and leave.

Frank had discussed it with his son.

Personally, he had already decided to stand alongside Chen Ye.

The only thing he worried about was his child.

When he explained the situation, his son had simply asked:

"If we leave Hell's Kitchen... where do we go?"

That single question left Frank speechless.

Because Hell's Kitchen was their home.

If they left, where could they possibly belong?

No one would destroy his son's life again.

He had already lost everything once before.

He refused to make the same mistake twice.

Not even for his old friend Nick Fury.

Kingpin then turned toward Doctor Octopus.

"Otto, perhaps you and Dr. Yinsen should return to the apartment complex. It's safer there."

Dr. Yinsen immediately shook his head.

"What, you think we're too old?"

"We're not that weak."

"As teachers, how could we run away when the battle is about to begin?"

"We'll stand and fight beside everyone else."

Doctor Octopus smiled.

He said nothing.

But the answer was obvious from his eyes.

"Good."

Kingpin nodded.

"Then my son is in your hands."

"As for Vanessa, Wanda and the others are protecting her. I'm not worried."

With that, he stood up and prepared to leave.

"Principal, where are you going?"

Master Ye immediately asked.

"Don't do anything reckless. If something happens to you, Chen Ye will be heartbroken."

Kingpin stopped.

Slowly turning around, he looked at Master Ye.

Taking another puff from his cigar, he released a cloud of smoke.

Then he spoke.

"I am Kingpin."

"The Emperor of the Underworld."

"I retired."

"I didn't die."

His voice carried overwhelming authority and dominance.

For a moment, it felt as though the legendary ruler of the criminal world had returned.

Some people, he thought, had forgotten who he was.

And forgetting came with a price.

Chen Ye was too kind.

There were things his godson refused to do.

So as a godfather, Kingpin would help him.

After all, when it came to threats and kidnappings—

Kingpin was an expert.

He knew how to make people tremble in fear.

He knew how to make people beg in despair.

And now...

He intended to remind everyone of his existence.

To remind them that even though he had retired—

Hell's Kitchen was still Hell's Kitchen.

He wanted the federal senators to remember.

Had they already forgotten the terror that Hell's Kitchen once inspired?

If so—

Kingpin didn't mind helping them remember.

But this time...

The price they paid would be much, much higher.
