Chapter 114 - Chapter 115: The Candidate for Strongest Mage

"Breath of Ki: Third Form—All Creation Returns to One!"

Seeing Erza successfully negate his previous barrage of air-blades, Goku's expression shifted from playful curiosity to a tempered seriousness. He raised his right hand high above his head, fingers held rigid like the spine of a mountain.

He paused for a single, heavy second, gathering the atmospheric energy and his internal ki into a singularity before bringing his hand down in a slow, deliberate chopping motion.

A colossal, crescent-shaped blade of azure energy erupted from his palm. It didn't just cut the air; it seemed to warp the very horizon, expanding as it traveled until it looked capable of cleaving the world itself in two.

"Requip: Adamantine Armor!"

The primal alarm bells in Erza's mind were screaming. Her instincts, honed through a thousand battles, told her that evasion was impossible and standard defense was suicide. In a flash of blinding light, she donned her bulkiest, most formidable set of magical plate.

"Adamantine Barrier!"

She slammed her two massive tower shields together, fusing them into a singular, obsidian-hard wall that encased her body. Simultaneously, a thick, emerald-green magical hex-grid flared into existence in front of the shield, humming with the power of an absolute defense.

*BOOM!*

The giant ki crescent slammed into the green barrier. The air shattered with the sound of grinding glass. The emerald shield held for exactly one second before it was bisected like wet paper, dissolving into emerald sparks.

The energy blade didn't slow down. It struck the physical shields of the Adamantine Armor next. Two seconds later, with a screech of rending metal, the "unbreakable" shields were split clean down the middle.

Faced with the inevitable breach, Erza used the momentum of the impact to twist her body violently. The ki blade grazed her shoulder guard, sheering off a chunk of enchanted steel, and slammed into the ground behind her. It cut a silent, bottomless trench into the earth that stretched for dozens of meters.

"What a terrifying strike..." Erza whispered, a cold sweat breaking out across her brow.

She looked at the fissure in the ground—dark, smooth, and impossibly deep. She realized that if she hadn't sacrificed her strongest defense to buy that one second of reaction time, she would have been neatly divided in half.

She didn't know that Goku had perfectly calculated the trajectory; had she failed to move, he would have dispersed the energy into harmless mist before contact.

"Titania's Adamantine Armor... it was broken!"

The townspeople were paralyzed with awe. They had seen Erza topple giants and monsters, but to see a young boy—a newcomer—shatter her ultimate defense was a reality-shattering event. The "strongest woman in Fairy Tail" was actually being pushed back.

"Requip: Lightning Empress Armor!"

Recovering her focus, Erza swapped her broken plates for a set of sleek, turquoise armor adorned with golden wing motifs. To Erza, a duel with a guildmate was the ultimate form of respect.

She wouldn't insult Goku by holding back; she would push herself to the limit, using him as the whetstone to sharpen her own soul. She needed to be stronger—stronger than the shadows of the Tower of Heaven, stronger than any threat that could ever jeopardize her new family.

"Lightning Empress Spear!"

She leveled her crackling spear at Goku. Blue-white electricity spiraled around the tip, condensing into the form of a roaring azure dragon that shot forward with the speed of a natural lightning strike.

The velocity was staggering. Goku's pupils contracted; the move reminded him vividly of "Grandpa Jackie Chun's" Lightning Flash Surprise Attack from the tournament years ago. The memory of the paralyzing pain made his skin tingle, but he was no longer that defenseless child.

"Breath of Ki: Fifth Form—Palm That Defines the Heavens!"

Goku thrust his palm forward. A massive, translucent hand composed of dense ki materialized in the air. It didn't strike; it simply *caught* the lightning dragon.

The two forces ground against each other—raw magic versus refined internal energy—until the dragon's mana was completely exhausted, flickering out into harmless static.

"This is my only defensive form," Goku noted to himself. "The results are pretty good."

"I have no choice but to use *that* armor," Erza realized. If even her fastest projectile couldn't touch him, she had to gamble everything on speed and lethality.

"*equip: Clear Heart Clothing!"

The Lightning Empress plates vanished. In their place, there was no metal at all. Erza now wore simple flame-patterned hakama trousers, her feet bare, her chest wrapped tightly in white bandages that strained against her form. She abandoned all pretense of defense, diverting every drop of her immense magical reserve into her twin katanas.

Her scarlet hair was tied in a high, fierce ponytail. She held two unique blades, their edges glowing with a haunting, crimson light.

"This 'armor' discards protection entirely," Erza explained, her voice dropping to a low, focused hum. "Every ounce of my magic is now flowing into my blades. It is the peak of my offensive capability. Goku... be careful."

"Come at me!" Goku's blood began to boil with the thrill of the fight. The air around Erza was vibrating with the sheer pressure of her killing intent.

"Bloom, Demon Blade Benizakura!"

Erza vanished. She didn't just move fast; she became a blur of red and white, her speed boosted to the physical limit of her magic. To the untrained eye, she had simply ceased to exist, replaced by a vacuum in the air.

"Breath of Ki: Sixth Form—God's Eye!"

Goku took a specific, shallow breath, directing his ki into his optic nerves. The world around him slowed to a crawl. The falling dust motes froze in mid-air. The frantic shouting of the crowd became a low, distorted rumble. Erza's "invisible" movement suddenly became clear—a series of high-speed lunges and pivots.

This form had zero offensive power, but it elevated his dynamic visual perception to a divine level.

"It's over," Goku thought. He could see her limit. She was pouring everything into this one final charge.

"Breath of Ki: Ninth Form—Mirror Flower, Water Moon!"

Erza, midway through her strike, suddenly felt her heart skip a beat. The Goku standing before her became translucent, like a reflection in a disturbed pond. A strange mist seemed to roll over the battlefield, obscuring her senses.

She couldn't lock onto his presence; her swords felt heavy, and she didn't know where to swing. Every direction felt like she was hitting air, yet every direction felt like a trap.

"You lose!"

The voice came from right beside her ear. Before she could react, a sharp, precise jab to her solar plexus stole her breath. Her knees buckled instinctively, and in that split second of weakness, her grip on the twin katanas was broken.

When she blinked, the mist was gone. Goku was standing casually two feet away, holding her Demon Blades in his hands with a wide, innocent grin.

"It's my loss," Erza said, standing up and dusting off her hakama. She wasn't bitter. On the contrary, her heart felt light. To know that her "family" now included a mage of this caliber brought her an immense sense of security. If she ever fell, there was someone else who could stand and protect the guild.

"Erza... lost?"

The silence in the plaza was deafening, followed by a roar of disbelief. The Titania had been dethroned by a boy who hadn't even been in the guild for a month.

"YES! That's my rent for the year! HAHAHA!" Lucy was doing a victory dance, clutching a massive bag of jewels she had just won from Cana.

"Fish! I can buy a mountain of fish!" Happy cheered, flying in circles.

Gray stood nearby, shivering slightly in the breeze (still missing his shirt), but a smirk played on his lips. He had known Goku was a freak of nature.

Makarov, however, was beaming. His face was practically glowing with pride. He looked at the mountain of betting money he had just legally swindled from his own members, and then back at his star pupil.

"Well now," Makarov chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "It seems we have a new candidate for the Strongest Male Mage in Fairy Tail."
