Nixxin didn't sleep for the night; he ate a lot of rice, oats, and meat. It was his first time being drained so much, as if his energy was getting absorbed by someone else.
Nixxin looked at Wia sleeping; he charged a voice recorder to make sure it wouldn't turn off. He was thinking if he should leave now; he was nervous; his heart was racing faster than ever. He didn't know what to do; should he leave or wait for Wia to wake up? I should do some exercise. I didn't exercise when the week started because my energy is getting drained easily.
Nixxin did some push-ups; he could do it, but it was really tiring. Unlike before, he could do it and was unstoppable. Although he is now taller, bigger, and more muscular, he tried sit-ups, pull-ups, and jumping rope. After that, he rested, lying down on the floor, breathing heavily.
Wia is still sleeping; why should I care about her? Nixxin goes to his wardrobe and picks his suit, hmmmm.... I think I should wear a detective suit like Sherlock Holmes so I would look like a detective.
Nixxin looks at the picture of his teammates and gives it to him. This man looks young and calm. I think he will find it silly, but I think the other one that looks old and serious will be angry and think that it's inappropriate. They're still taller and still will find me a kid after all.
Nixxin picked his suit and went to shower. He stared at himself; as the water from the shower flowed down to his body, he felt somewhat sad. He wondered, what had gone wrong? Why do I sell drugs now? Nixxin looks down at the sink; as he breathes heavily, he is nervous; anytime soon, he could be caught.
After showering, he looks at Wia sleeping; he seems old. Nixxin fixes Wia's blanket; he got wet by his hand; he changes clothes at the wardrobe; he looks at his suit; he really looks like a detective from movies; Nixxin walks out of the wardrobe, and the nervousness fades, and he walks to the kitchen smiling.
I'm getting hungry. Hmmm. I should cook high protein and high carbohydrate; I should cook lentils and eggs; and also, what does Wia like for breakfast? Broccoli and eggs? I'll cook broccoli scrambled egg for her.
After an hour, his hand is very wet, because everytime he do something, he will wash his hand, and do something again, and wash it again, Wia is still sleep, he looks at her, while the light outside is getting brighter, Nixxin turn his looks at the broccoli scrambled eggs, he covered it.
Nixxin pick-up a pen and paper, he write down, while eating, "Wia... Goodmorning. I'm going to leave early, and I might come back late at night, I cook a broccoli scrambled eggs for you, you said you like broccoli and eggs as a breakfast. Don't worry, I will comeback home as early as possible."
Nixxin torn the paper and left it, he finished eating, after eating, he looks at himself in the mirror, before leaving, he pick up the voice recorder that he charge, and the key hanging, Nixxin opened the door, he goes out and slowly close the door, to make sure he doesn't wake her up.
After it he walks towards the elevator he enter the elevator and a janitor walks in, he stand up awkwardly, while constantly looking at the janitor, the janitor smiles, Nixxin smiles back, the elevator opened, and he hurried outside and wait for taxi, he looks at his watch, it was closing to be 6am, he should already be in the building at 6:30.
After 10minute of waiting, Nixxin is getting angry, that taxi comes close and when it stop, he opens the door, the time he sees the inside car, his heart suddenly race, as if someone is going catch him, and he said, "Hero Foundation Station, after center of commercial 220."
Nixxin close his eye, he is trying to calm himself, he is forcing is forcing himself to breathe slowly. By the time he was in the building, it was just his time to get interviewed. "Is there a hero with tier 6?"
Nixxin hurried to get inside; he bumped into another hero just to get in time. "Again, tier 6 hero!"
Nixxin opened the door, as Nixxin look inside it is a blank room, there's only a chair, a microphone, and a table, "Come in, have a sit."
Nixxin close the door, and he walk toward the chair, Nixxin pull the chair sit down, and push it forward, Nixxin adjust the microphone to it's front, "Thank you sir."
Nixxin fix his tie, "You know why you're here?"
Nixxin look around to know where the speaker is, "I'm here for the... Investigator position."
Nixxin's right foot can't stop shaking, "State yourself, to make sure you're on the list."
Nixxin cough before talking, "I'm Nixxin, and I don't have surname, my birthday is every earth year..."
Nixxin stared for a second and cough, "I have already spent enough time on studying crimes and assisting investigator I knew... So I'm pretty confident that I could help at this case."
Nixxin grip his thighs, to stop his foot from shaking but he can't, "As a hero... Why do you want this job?"
Nixxin think before answering, "I'm seeing some effect of the spiral drug, on news, and I'm afraid, that any time soon, I could be affected by the drug, that's why I want it to find the culprit, and... Stop the... The... This growing problem in our society."
Nixxin's heart is pounding after he said it, why did I said that? I'm so stupid. "Does that mean you're going to accept a bribe, considering you only want your own safety?"
Nixxin panicked and said, "N—no, sir, you misunderstand—"
The speaker stop him from explaining, "Ah... I'm not finished with my question. You said you're afraid you could be affected, but being an investigator won't give you a guaranteed safety... So... Why did you want to become an investigator?"
Nixxin didn't answer; he tried to calm himself before answering, "Sir, you got it wrong. The thing is, I truly fear for my safety, but saying 'my safety' also includes my friends... Fear really makes me crawl, and fear is important because it saves only one, and it's self, and I, I want to conquer my fear... Because fear won't disappear, fear... Is confronted, and that is bravery."
Nixxin calmed down a little; the speaker laughed, "That's a good speech, so... Do you know a man named Panko?"
Nixxin froze; he wondered why the speaker laughed and knew Panko. Did he already know? Am I being observed? "Who's that guy?"
The speaker become silent for a whole minute before talking back, "It's just my friend of mine. So now, let's go to our questions."
Nixxin cough again, when, his back suddenly ache, he's struggle is obvious, but the speaker didn't see it, Nixxin's sweat is falling down to the chair, he stares at one drop, going down to his nose, and fell, to the table, "When arriving at a crime scene, what's your first priority?"
Nixxin try to act, but the wings behind is growing, "I..." Nixxin cannot focus himself because of the sharp pain his back has, "I... I will make sure there's no one inside... So... So the hand print won't get smudge, and the foot print would be less. So the physical evidences isn't secure and protected."
Nixxin's back is getting slowly losing pain, "How do you verify, a... Witness's statement?"
Nixxin close his eyes while thinking, he opened his eyes, facing the table, "I will based on proofs, and make sure things make sense... Because, they could forget something or lie about it."
Nixxin look at the ceiling, his back is already fine, but the two limb behind him is getting stuck, because his suit is too tight at the back, "So now, do you understand the words intelligence and evidence?"
Nixxin think about it, intelligence and evidence, this is easy question, "Evidence a solid proof, that was earned because of intelligence... Not only from investigator, but also from the criminal, because Intellectual criminal don't leave evidence."
Nixxin look around the room, and stared at the table, he is feeling cold at the room, "How would you start a investigation of drug crimes?"
Nixxin looks at his hand, "I will... I will stay silent, and avoid attention, while close to the operation, making sure, the drug dealers and it's people don't get suspicious of me, so I can gather more information."
Nixxin smiles, he feels it, that he will get accepted at the investigation, "Explain good informant."
Nixxin fix his suit, because it's too tight, "Ahhh, they have solid, useful, proven, and reliable information... But I would still check everything and make sure it's verified."
Nixxin looks at the edge of the room, thinking if there's small CCTV or speaker, "How do you spot a corrupt official?"
Nixxin close his eyes and answered, "Explore it's report, most of corrupt have missing report, and they have a unexplainable wealth that doesn't match their salary as an official."
Nixxin tap the table with his finger, "That will be all."
Nixxin stood up, "Thank you, sir."
Nixxin touch the door knob, "Remember."
Nixxin look back and look around, "Remember the quote, the enemy is closer than you think, suspect everyone, even me."
Nixxin nodded and goes out of the room, what the hell, why did he know about Panko? The chief definitely knows something.
Nixxin heads to the main room of the building; there are many hero investigators in the room, and then he sees Jayo and Teddy. Teddy looks like a middle-aged man; he waves at Nixxin while Nixxin is approaching.
While Jayo looks around the room. As he gets close, Teddy asks him, "You're Nixxin, right?"
Nixxin looks at Jayo at the back, "Yes, I am. And You are?", Teddy notice he is looking Jayo.
Teddy laughs, pointing at Jayo, "That is Jayo Owen, and I am Teddy Doni."
Nixxin smiles; when Jayo looks at him, Teddy asks Nixxin, "So... What do you think of the chief's questions?"
Nixxin looks at Jayo, then to Teddy; it was a bit awkward for Nixxin. "I think they were easy questions."
Teddy's smile slowly fades. "What makes you think it's easy?"
Nixxin's eyes widen. "Because... It can be easily answered."
Teddy fixes his posture. "Does that mean you create your own answer? Most of the criminals I investigate really base it on their own reality."
Nixxin gets confused. "I'm sorry, but I... I base my reality on my past experiences."
