Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

After a moment of silence, George finally spoke.

"I'll go upstairs and check on Wendy. You start making lunch."

At the mention of cooking for Suzy, Fiona's expression stiffened slightly with displeasure.

That girl was hardly worth the effort.

But the irritation vanished almost as quickly as it appeared.

Once Suzy signed the transfer agreement willingly, the inheritance worth billions would fall straight into their hands.

The thought instantly brightened Fiona's mood, and she headed toward the kitchen with noticeably lighter steps.

Meanwhile, the very first thing Suzy did after waking up was contact Malcolm Brone.

For years, Malcolm had been responsible for managing the assets left behind by her mother, Elisabeth Ashford.

This time, however, Suzy gave him an entirely different instruction.

She wanted every asset under her mother's name liquidated immediately—stocks, properties, investments, everything—and converted into cash as quickly as possible.

Malcolm was so shocked that he fell silent for several seconds.

Only after confirming repeatedly that George Kale had no involvement in the decision did he stop questioning her and begin making arrangements at once.

"Oh, right, Uncle Malcolm," Suzy said just before ending the call. "There's also something I'd like to ask regarding the contract…"

The two continued discussing details for a while longer before finally hanging up.

Afterward, Suzy went down to the underground garage to pick up her car.

But instead of driving straight to the Kale family villa, she made a stop at a nearby antique market first.

There, she bought a counterfeit gold bracelet for a hundred dollars—one that looked almost identical to the original.

Only after securing the fake bracelet did she continue toward the Kale residence.

Along the way, she stopped at a small roadside print shop and printed the revised transfer agreement Malcolm had sent her.

Half an hour later, Suzy stepped through the front doors of the Kale family villa.

George greeted her with unusual enthusiasm, personally ushering her into the living room as though afraid she might leave at any moment.

The instant she entered, Suzy noticed Wendy sitting comfortably on the sofa, her cheeks rosy with health, while Tommy sprawled nearby scrolling through his phone.

From beginning to end, he never even looked up at her.

It was as if she didn't exist at all.

But Suzy's attention lingered on Wendy.

Something about her had changed completely.

There was a new sharpness hidden in Wendy's gaze now—a quiet confidence mixed with subtle arrogance that had never existed before.

Suzy understood immediately.

The transmigrator had already taken over.

"Suzy, you're finally home," Wendy said warmly, smiling as though they were genuinely close sisters.

Yet while speaking, her eyes subtly swept over Suzy's appearance from head to toe.

So this is the younger sister from the original storyline, Wendy thought to herself. The girl with the massive inheritance… and the spatial bracelet.

She had heard long ago that Suzy suffered from poor health—congenital heart disease along with several chronic illnesses.

Now that she saw her in person, the rumors were obviously true.

Suzy's complexion carried an unhealthy pallor, the fragile whiteness of someone who spent little time beneath the sun.

The skin beneath her eyes was so thin that faint bluish veins showed through, making her appear even more delicate and fragile.

And yet, somehow, that sickly weakness only made her more breathtaking.

Even Wendy had to admit it.

This so-called disposable side character was unbelievably beautiful.

Her features were refined almost to perfection, framed by elegant brows and slightly upturned phoenix eyes naturally touched with melancholy.

Those clear, watery eyes carried a fragile elegance that made her seem distant and untouchable.

Long lashes. A graceful nose. Pale lips shaped flawlessly despite their lack of color.

Everything about her stirred protective instincts in others.

Compared to Suzy, the body Wendy currently occupied felt painfully ordinary.

At most, she could only be considered mildly attractive.

Standing beside Suzy, the difference between them was impossible to ignore.

For a brief moment, jealousy flashed through Wendy's heart before she quickly forced it down.

Fortunately, Suzy was weak and chronically ill.

A girl like her likely would not survive the beginning of the apocalypse.

Sooner or later, she would die anyway.

And no matter how beautiful she was, how could an insignificant supporting character ever compete with a transmigrator who already knew the future?

"Suzy, did you bring everything?" George asked impatiently.

His gaze swept over her, his brows furrowing when he noticed she wasn't carrying any obvious documents.

Suzy gave a faint nod.

"Yes. They're in my bag."

"Then—"

Before he could finish speaking, Suzy suddenly lifted a hand to her temple.

A faint crease appeared between her brows, and discomfort spread naturally across her pale face at just the right moment.

"Dad… Sis…"

Her voice sounded soft and weak, tinged with careful apology.

"I'm feeling a little dizzy right now. I want to go upstairs, take my medicine, and rest for a while before coming back down. Is that alright?"
