Chapter 33 - CHAPTER 033: Diarmuid’s Perfectly Accurate Mine-Stepping

Byakuya sternly criticized Morgan for the habit of "stuffing poison into your Master the moment you don't like his question."

As punishment, he confiscated the vial—Morgan's thousand-years-in-the-making poison collection.

He had no intention of tasting it, of course. But who knew—maybe it'd be useful someday.

Perhaps because Morgan and Irisviel had emerged, or perhaps because in the last hour or two they'd already "said" everything they needed through their spears—

Scáthach and the Goddess Rhongomyniad ended their second bout shortly after.

Given their level, Byakuya didn't believe they hadn't overheard his earlier conversation with Morgan.

Still, for the sake of ceremony, he summarized the current situation once they returned, and then concluded:

"If everything goes smoothly—meaning three days from now, once Irisviel has her new heart—we can think about ending this war."

"I'm sorry," Irisviel said apologetically. "I've dragged everyone into my problem."

"Don't fixate on the downside," Byakuya said, gesturing at the goddess Irisviel had brought. "A few days for an ally like that? In my book, that's a bargain."

"And besides—if you weren't our teammates but our enemies, I wouldn't be able to end this war whenever I felt like it."

"I'll take you at your word, then?" Irisviel blinked, met his gaze for a few seconds, and then smiled with a playful glint.

"I meant every word," Byakuya replied, smiling back.

Then he remembered something.

"If a Servant is eliminated during these three days, will it affect the transfer of the Lesser Grail function you're doing?"

"Huh? Um…" Irisviel looked to Morgan.

"In principle, it shouldn't," Morgan said after thinking. "To me, the difference between a Lesser Grail that hasn't absorbed any Servant souls and one that has is merely that certain dormant circuits are activated. I see no other structural change."

"But…?" Byakuya pressed.

"But this is my first time handling the Fuyuki Grail vessel," Morgan said bluntly. "Even if the chance of an accident is small, it isn't zero. So I won't speak in absolutes."

"Then we should play it safe," the Goddess Rhongomyniad said.

"I agree," Byakuya said, snapping his fingers.

Runes flared, manifesting a live map of Fuyuki—one Morgan had used to monitor the city, then shared with him once it was completed.

"Blue dots are Masters. Red dots are Servants we can lock onto."

"Don't worry about the church—special case; treat it like it doesn't exist."

"That leaves us with three groups to watch."

Byakuya pointed to the clusters for Kenneth's group, Waver's group, and Tokiomi's group.
