Hugging her knees, Chu Yao let out a low sob. Tears and snot streamed down her face, but she didn't care at all. She was just miserable. Utterly, completely miserable.
Suddenly, a pair of strong hands gripped her arms. Before Chu Yao could even react, she was pulled into a tight embrace.
Her tears and snot immediately smeared all over him. Chu Yao froze, but the familiar scent and warmth told her instantly who it was.
She didn't look up. Instead, her quiet sobs suddenly erupted. She threw her arms around his waist and let out a loud wail, like a little girl who had been terribly bullied.
Lu Xize's eyes were incredibly grim. His arms around Chu Yao tightened, wishing he could absorb her into his very being. He wanted her to know that he was here, that he would always be here, and that he had the strength to shield her from all the storms of the world.
Chu Yao cried into his chest for a full ten minutes before she finally started to quiet down.
