Chapter 55 - chapter 55: The First Gathering Formation

The hidden valley had entered a new stage of development.

The medicinal terraces flourished under Meera's attentive care.

Rohan's forge rang daily with the sound of hammer striking metal.

Arun maintained detailed ledgers of supplies, labor hours, and projected needs.

Karan returned from each excursion with observations about local beasts and the surrounding terrain.

And Tara spent nearly every free moment studying the thick manual Master Kiran had placed in her hands.

Tonight, her efforts would be tested.

For several weeks, Tara had immersed herself in the foundations of formations.

She memorized geometric principles, the properties of runic symbols, and the relationships between natural energy currents.

Unlike many beginners, she did not rush.

She reviewed each concept until she understood not only how it worked, but why.

Master Kiran had noticed her discipline and quiet determination.

Now he stood beside her in the stone pavilion.

On the floor lay a simple diagram drawn in chalk.

A circle surrounded by eight evenly spaced symbols.

At the center rested a fist-sized spirit crystal.

Master Kiran looked at Tara.

"Tonight, you will construct your first functioning formation."

Tara took a steady breath.

"Yes, Master."

Master Kiran pointed to the diagram.

"This is a basic Spiritual Gathering Formation."

He explained its purpose.

"A gathering formation draws ambient spiritual energy into a concentrated area."

Such formations could:

• Accelerate cultivation

Nourish medicinal gardens

Power alchemical furnaces

Support healing chambers

He looked at Tara.

"Many advanced structures rely on this principle."

Tara nodded.

"In other words, it increases efficiency."

"Exactly."

Master Kiran handed Tara a fine brush dipped in mineral ink.

"Remember."

"Formations are unforgiving.

"A single misplaced symbol may cause instability."

Tara knelt and began carefully tracing the lines.

Her movements were slow and deliberate.

Each symbol was placed with meticulous attention.

When she finished, she inserted the spirit crystal into the center.

Master Kiran stepped back.

"Activate it."

Tara infused the formation with a thread of spiritual energy.

For a brief moment, nothing happened.

Then the symbols lit up.

A gentle current of energy flowed inward.

The air within the circle became noticeably denser.

Tara's eyes widened.

"It worked."

Master Kiran nodded approvingly.

"Well done."

The formation was modest, but fully functional.

For a beginner, it was an excellent result.

Master Kiran then erased one symbol and redrew it incorrectly.

"Observe.

He activated the altered formation.

The energy fluctuated violently before collapsing.

The spirit crystal cracked.

Tara stared in alarm.

Master Kiran remained calm.

"This is why patience is essential."

"Formation masters must value accuracy over speed."

Tara nodded solemnly.

"I understand."

Master Kiran described how formations would shape the future.

Tara could one day create:

Defensive barriers around the academy.

Concealment arrays for hidden valleys.

Illusion formations for combat training.

Specialized rooms for cultivation and healing.

"Your work will support every department," he said.

Tara looked toward the valley.

For the first time, she truly grasped the significance of her path.

Master Kiran gestured toward the surrounding facilities.

"Rohan's forge can be enhanced by heat-regulating formations."

"Meera's gardens can be nourished by " gathering arrays.

"Arun will procure materials."

"Karan may help locate natural energy nodes."

Tara smiled faintly.

Her path was deeply connected to everyone else's.

Later that night, Tara remained in the pavilion, sketching additional diagrams.

Master Kiran watched from a distance.

She was quiet and reserved, but her concentration was remarkable.

Eventually, she approached him and bowed.

"Master."

"Yes?"

"One day, I want to build formations that can protect everyone."

Master Kiran's expression softened.

"You will."
