Thud!
The ground trembled as two powerful hooves crushed down. Strong winds blew Dravok's long mane. His dark eyes like the abyss were locked onto the panicked figures in the distance moving in and out of the stone houses.
Yes, this is the feeling. I can sense the energy in my chest growing even more, and all it took was a slight sound from me to scare them to this extent. It seems they don't have much confidence in resisting me. This is good. Dravok thought while feeling the surging chaos energy in his body.
But this is not enough. I don't know what opponents I am going to face next. I need more strength. I can't end up in such a bad situation like last time. I almost lost my life.
So killing a few of them to really scare them will make me much stronger, that way I can deal with whatever will come after me next.
Just as the cursed horse was planning this massacre,
Dozens of people dressed in leather armor with long spears and bows started gathering outside the village in a formation.
What is this?
Are they planning to fight me? But I don't sense any powerful aura from them. Are they all just normal people? Do they think they can fight me with just this?
But soon Dravok saw two figures walking toward him, and from them he could clearly feel a familiar strange aura.
The one on the left was a tall man dressed in light metal armor carrying a longsword in his hands. His eyes through the holes in the helmet showed a resolute face ready to face death.
Next to him was a shorter but equally robust old man with a long white beard and weary eyes with deep wrinkles. He wore elegant red leather armor and was carrying a huge metal hammer in his hands.
Thuds were heard with each step they took. After walking ten meters in front of the formation, they stopped. Now the distance between the cursed horse and the two men was less than three hundred meters.
"Men, ready your weapons! This is a battle we must face head-on. The lives of our families depend on us. We must hold this beast here for as long as possible. Right now, our families are evacuating as we speak. Every moment we hold this beast back is a greater chance for our families to live." The Guards Captain said in a booming voice filled with heroism.
The trembling guards, hearing the captain's words, regained some composure. They held their spears and bows tightly. Though their hands were still slightly trembling, their eyes were resolute.
The cold wind blew, taking with it red leaves from the trees.
Hmph. Their fear actually decreased. Do they really think they can face me with just a bunch of normal people with bows and spears and two weak special ones? There isn't even one close to the strength of that captain. And now I am even stronger. Even if that bastard was here, he would have to die!
Dravok, feeling the decreasing fear, immediately felt rage. His dark eyes showed a slight red hue reflecting his rage.
Nighh!!
With a crazed roar, Dravok launched like lightning toward the guards in front of him. His aim was the two Chaos users.
"Men, release!" The Guards Captain roared.
Swish! Swish!!
Dozens of arrows flew toward the dark figure, cutting through the air with a rushing sound.
Nighh!! Dravok roared as he closed his eyes and faced the arrows head-on.
Ding! Ding! Ding!!
The arrows, like hitting iron, broke on contact, barely damaging the fur!
The Captain, seeing this, didn't change his expression in the slightest. Instead, he ordered:
"Men, raise your spears! Be ready to make contact!"
Dravok opened his eyes after the arrows stopped. His gaze was fixed on the two figures ahead rushing toward him, completely ignoring the dozens of guards surrounding him with spears.
Swish! Thud!
Two weapons went straight for Dravok's legs with great momentum.
Boom!!
The ground cracked under the feet of the Village Chief and Guards Captain as they hit the iron-like legs of the demon horse.
Crack! Crack! Two sickening cracks were heard the very next moment upon contact.
"Aghh!" Both men's arms broke. Their weapons flew back, hitting the guards behind them, killing two charging Guards.
The beast passed by them like a shadow, as though their efforts in stopping it were meaningless.
"Beast!!" The Guards Captain screamed as he flew backward, crashing to the ground with a thud.
"NOOO!" A soldier in the path of the shadow screamed. He raised his spear in panic as he faced death!
Crack! Splash!
Splash!
The guard, like an egg hitting a rock, died a gruesome death, crushed upon contact. His spear broke and pierced his body.
Blood and bones splashed across the dark ground.
Nighh!!
Dravok, with blood on his head, roared as he passed through guard after guard in his rampage.
Fear! Uncontrollable fear spread!!
Now this is how you people are supposed to act! Dravok thought with happiness as the energy grew.
Let's finish those two first before I continue!
Without stopping, Dravok turned around and headed toward the figures that had gotten up and were trying to regain control of the guards.
"Men! Don't panic! Attack that beast! Even if we can't hurt it, we can exhaust it! Remember, we need to buy time!" The Guards Captain screamed in a hoarse voice. Even with both of his arms twisted, he still had a serious face showing no fear.
"Aghh!" A guard filled with fear raised his spear and still charged at the galloping figure. Then the second and third followed. Even if they died today, their families had to survive!
This is a massacre, Lorand. We stand no chance, the Village Chief said with a deep sigh to the Guards Captain beside him. His aged face, filled with pain, aged even more.
"We all knew this, but we still have to stand here and give our lives for our families," Lorand said in a deep voice.
"Ahh!", "Raaah!"
Voices filled with pain and despair kept sounding as the guards died gruesome deaths, one after the other, giving their all to stop the figure for even a second.
"He is coming," the Village Chief said in a helpless voice. His eyes locked with the beast's eyes full of malice heading toward the two of them.
"If we die, we die with honor! Standing our ground like Chaos warriors! Though we do not have the grace of the Chaos Slayers, the Great Divine Knight will still let us join his army in the afterlife!!"
The Guards Captain Lorand screamed to motivate his men and himself as the beast's figure, like a demon from the depths, appeared in front of him.
