Chapter 154 - Chapter 155 Various Reactions, Natasha's Special Offensive Against the Hulk

Boom! Boom!

The chaotic black sphere continuously released powerful shockwaves as the vast energy gradually consumed the entire island. A brilliant, multi-colored light soared into the sky, and after a brief period of darkness, the heavens suddenly brightened as if a second sun were rising from the earth.

The mutual annihilation of the elements released a terrifying power. The unrestrained flood of energy transformed into a semi-circular, pitch-black dome that completely covered the island in the middle of the river. The already trembling space finally became overburdened, and countless cracks tore open amidst the energy annihilation.

The river water shook as if it were boiling. In an instant, the spray defied the laws of physics, eerily soaring upward before crashing back down heavily once the energy shockwave passed. Countless river fish were stunned by the terrifying might, floating to the surface one by one with their bellies up.

The vibrations continued to spread. Even with the turbulent river absorbing a massive amount of kinetic energy, the shockwaves still penetrated the riverbed and radiated in all directions. The entire Washington D.C. area began to shake violently, as if doomsday had arrived.

When everything finally settled, the original forty-story Triskelion building had vanished without a trace, replaced by a massive crater. The large island in the center of the Potomac River had completely disappeared, and the underground artificial structures had been destroyed in the energy flood, leaving behind a pit of unknown depth.

Whoosh!

A continuous stream of river water poured from the surroundings into the center. Under the massive inundation, the deep pit quickly transformed into a swirling vortex, acting like a giant abyss that swallowed the current and raised a ceaseless roar of waves.

The island in the heart of the river was now a thing of the past. Only a few scattered fragments of the original massive landmass remained standing stubbornly in the water. However, under the constant erosion of the high-speed current, these fragments would not last long before being submerged and completely vanishing.

Makiya slowly descended from high in the air, floating silently directly above the river vortex. Abomination's soul fluctuations had completely vanished; in this performance of his life, he had taken his final bow.

As a warmonger with countless lives on his hands, dying under the move Doomsday Oblivion could be considered getting what he wanted. His whole life had been spent pursuing stronger opponents, and it was inevitable that he would eventually fall at the hands of a powerful foe. If it wasn't Makiya, it would have been someone else.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. Triskelion headquarters had completely become history. Since the defeat of Red Skull and the man with the mustache seventy years ago, the S.H.I.E.L.D. built by the UN's Five Permanent Members with vast sums of money had been completely hollowed out by the lingering Hydra. The headquarters was claimed to be the center for maintaining world peace, but in reality, it was a den of snakes where Hydra secretly plotted to subvert the world. However, Pierce had died before he could truly begin his campaign, having provoked Makiya and finally bringing disaster upon himself. A pair of large boxers drifted from nowhere, bobbing several times on the water's surface before finally being swallowed by the whirlpool and vanishing into the depths.

Makiya's sharp eyes immediately recognized them as Abomination's boxers. Every world has its own unique rules, and the Marvel Universe is no different. Here, any superhero with a transformation-based power always wears a pair of indestructible pants; compared to them, even Vibranium is a junior.

The sound of a helicopter approached from the sky. Having persisted since the beginning of the battle, this helicopter had survived several near-crashes, saved each time by the pilot's superb flying skills.

But now their situation seemed dire, as if an unseen force had suddenly delivered a heavy blow; the helicopter began to lurch and spin uncontrollably. Alarms blared, piercing the pilot's eardrums as various indicator lights flashed frantically.

"Damn bitch, it's all your fault! We're about to crash!" the pilot cursed. He blamed himself for being obsessed and believing the female reporter's lies. Now, not only was he not getting what he wanted, but he was also about to lose his life. It was a total loss no matter how he looked at it.

As a pilot, he didn't actually lack playmates; it was just that a colleague offered a sense of novelty.

The helicopter began to tilt uncontrollably, its nose diving sharply toward the ground like a bird with broken wings.

Inside, the female reporter and the cameraman wailed loudly, clinging tightly to anything fixed around them. Seeing the ground getting closer and closer, they could only close their eyes and wait for death in despair.

However, the expected explosion did not happen. The rapid airflow vanished at some point, replaced by a gentle breeze.

The group opened their eyes to find that the helicopter's downward momentum had mysteriously vanished. A strange and gentle force supported the entire fuselage, eventually placing it safely on the ground.

"It's him! It's that mysterious chairman who saved us!" The female reporter reacted instantly, pulling up the shaken cameraman and saying urgently, "Quick, set up the camera! I want to interview him!"

The cameraman stammered, his face a mask of cowardice. He wanted to respond to his crush's request, but unfortunately, his legs were jelly, and he couldn't even stand up for the time being.

Interviewing Makiya was merely the female reporter's wishful thinking, and saving them was just a casual act of convenience. After scanning the area and confirming everything was finished, Makiya spread his wings and soared high, disappearing from everyone's sight.

In the television station's headquarters, the supervisor wiped away cold sweat as he hung up the phone. He quickly called his subordinates over and said, "For the next month, we will broadcast this hard-won footage repeatedly. And we must choose a striking title!"

The subordinate nodded and then asked curiously, "Which title should we use? Is it 'The Unspeakable Murderous Demon...' or 'The Terrifying and Evil Asian Criminal...'?"

To his surprise, the supervisor slammed the table and stood up from behind his desk, his portly body trembling as he spoke with righteous indignation. "How can you talk like that? How could we use such a title? We are journalists; we pursue the truth. Don't you feel ashamed using such sensationalist titles?"

"The subordinate:"

He suppressed the urge to beat the fat pig in front of him to death and squeezed out a smile. "Then, Supervisor, what title would be appropriate?"

The supervisor straightened his tie, recalling his hometown's history. He waved his hand and declared, "'The Supreme Chairman Overcomes the Green Monster and Saves the World!' We'll use that!"

"Yes, sir!"

For Makiya, the matter was over, and the next step was to go home and inventory his spoils. But for the rest of the world, the trouble had only just begun.

The public was both terrified and obsessed with the power Makiya had displayed. Discussions about superpowers on the internet exploded, with the Origin Continent and virtual reality games being mentioned constantly. These two terms dominated the Twitter search trends for a long time.

Some beta players came forward to demonstrate their abilities in public. Although their power was a far cry from Makiya's, this was a stable way to become stronger without side effects. Who wouldn't want that?

Combined with the power of the Holy Light Makiya displayed during the battle, a large number of people began to view him as a deity, praying that the great god would bestow blessings and guide them into that virtual reality world.

The army unit ravaged by Abomination was one controlled by General Ross. The person pulling the strings behind the scenes was now as frantic as an ant on a hot pan, desperately calling Pierce, but the calls wouldn't go through no matter how many times he tried.

Actually, the mastermind had already anticipated this when he saw Makiya release the Doomsday Oblivion. Since even the S.H.I.E.L.D. building had been erased, there was no way Pierce could have survived.

However, it didn't matter that Pierce was dead; what mattered was that the promotion he had promised was gone! Not only was there no hope for a promotion, but he would definitely be held accountable for the unauthorized troop deployment. In a few days, he would surely 'commit suicide' by shooting himself eight times in the back in his apartment.

No one cared whether the mastermind lived or died; his life was destined to become a bargaining chip in an exchange of interests.

The geomorphology of the Potomac River had been altered, and the ecology and terrain would continue to change over the coming years. The final vibrations had made the entire geological structure loose; whether people could continue living on both banks would require a long time to investigate and verify.

The local government had a sudden idea and decided to drive all the city's homeless people there. This would solve the issue of the city's appearance while ensuring the large plot of empty land didn't go to waste.

In the secret base, Fury picked up the pager he had thrown on the ground. After hesitating, he finally pressed it. The Earth was currently too dangerous; without a reliable high-end combatant to hold down the fort, he felt powerless.

Of course, having just Captain Marvel wasn't enough. There weren't many people he could trust; the Black Widow, Natasha, was one; the 'nice guy' Level 8 agent Phil Coulson was another; and the rest was Hawkeye.

Unfortunately, Hawkeye had sacrificed himself in the previous battle, leaving only two usable people. Fury thought for a moment and placed a call to Natasha.

Ever since that group of mutant vampires moved into S.H.I.E.L.D., research on them had never ceased. Fury discovered that although they were dependent on blood, their physical attributes were leagues ahead of the Super Soldier Serum. It was actually a very good path for enhancement.

Therefore, under Fury's persuasion, Natasha accepted his suggestion. To better atone for her past crimes, she proactively accepted the vampire's embrace and was then modified by the mutant vampires to become one of them.

The enhanced Natasha traveled alone to South America for a mission. Her goal was simple: to bring a certain green giant onto S.H.I.E.L.D.'s wagon—more accurately, onto Fury's wagon.

The phone connected after three rings. Before Fury could speak, Natasha's screams came from the other end. She seemed to be pursued by an enemy, and heavy panting could be heard through the speaker.

Occasionally, the Hulk's roars could be heard—sounds that were a strange mixture of immense relief and intense pain.

Fury frowned. Pain? Why would the Hulk feel pain? Was Natasha really that strong?

He listened carefully for a moment longer before finally realizing what was happening. With a strange expression on his face, he spoke into the receiver. "Natasha, remember to call me back once you're finished."

Without waiting for her response, Fury hurriedly hung up.

He knew Natasha wouldn't have the chance to reply anytime soon, but from the situation just now, everything was going smoothly. The Hulk would soon be at his disposal.

Since ancient times, heroes have always had a weakness for beautiful women; it seemed even the Hulk was no exception.

Fury thought about it and then made another call to Agent Coulson, who was far away in the Arctic.

S.H.I.E.L.D. possessed its own communication satellites, and he was still the Director with the highest internal permissions. The signal traveled through the satellite to the Arctic region and was quickly picked up by the satellite phone Coulson carried.

"Hello, Coulson. How are things on your end? Is everything going smoothly?"

"Everything is going smoothly, Director." Coulson was in the Arctic base, gritting his teeth as he bandaged a wound. "Several agents suddenly turned traitor and attacked me. Thanks to Agent Melinda May, I managed to survive."

After speaking, he didn't forget to report the main business. "We have already initially located the site where Captain America crashed. In less than three months, the world will welcome back its hero!"
