The restaurant slowly emptied as the night deepened. Soft music still played in the background, and the warm lights gave the room a calm, quiet atmosphere.

Noah leaned back slightly in his chair, feeling full for the first time in a while. Real food. Good food. Not instant noodles.

Across from him, Pamela rested her chin lightly on her hand, watching him with a faint smile.

"You look satisfied," she said.

Noah chuckled. "I won't lie. That might've been the best meal I've had in weeks."

"Weeks?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Let's just say my diet hasn't been… impressive lately."

Pamela laughed softly.

"I'm guessing instant noodles."

"Hey," Noah said defensively. "Those noodles carried me through some tough days."

"Oh, I'm sure they did."

The waiter came by and placed the bill gently on the table. Noah glanced at it and tried not to visibly panic. It was expensive, but still barely within what he had.

Pamela noticed the quick flicker in his expression but said nothing. Instead, she leaned back and watched him calmly as he paid.

Once everything was settled, they stood and left the restaurant together.

Outside, Gotham at night felt different.

The air was cooler, the streets glowing under yellow streetlights and neon signs. Cars passed occasionally, and distant sounds of the city echoed between tall buildings.

Pamela stepped beside him, her red hair catching the light as they walked.

"So," she said casually, "where to now?"

Noah shoved his hands into his pockets as they started walking down the sidewalk.

"Well… I don't really have a plan after dinner."

"That's refreshing."

"How so?"

"Most people try too hard to impress," she said. "They plan everything."

Noah smiled slightly. "That sounds exhausting."

"It usually is."

They walked slowly, not really heading anywhere in particular.

For a few minutes, neither of them spoke. It wasn't awkward though. Just quiet.

Gotham's night breeze moved through the streets, carrying the smell of rain and distant traffic.

Pamela eventually broke the silence.

"You're interesting, Noah."

He looked over at her. "Interesting how?"

"You don't feel like you belong to Gotham."

Noah laughed nervously. "Is that a good thing?"

"I think so."

She glanced at him briefly, studying his face like she was trying to read something deeper.

"Most people here carry the weight of the city on their shoulders," she said. "Fear, anger, greed."

"And I don't?"

"You seem… lighter."

Noah rubbed the back of his neck.

"Well, I try not to take life too seriously."

Pamela hummed quietly, though her eyes suggested she didn't completely believe that answer.

They turned into a quieter street lined with trees and small lights.

A small park entrance appeared ahead.

Pamela stopped walking.

"Noah."

He looked at her.

"Would you mind walking with me for a bit?"

"Of course."

They stepped into the park together.

The grass was dark under the night sky, and the wind gently moved through the trees. Compared to the chaos of the city streets, the park felt peaceful.

Pamela seemed more relaxed here.

She reached out and brushed her fingers lightly against a leaf on a nearby branch as they walked.

"You really like plants, huh?" Noah said.

"They're honest."

"Honest?"

"They grow when the conditions are right. They adapt. They survive."

Noah nodded slowly.

"People could learn from that."

She smiled faintly.

"Some do."

They reached a small wooden bench near a large tree. Pamela sat down first, and Noah followed.

For a moment, they simply listened to the quiet.

"You know," Noah said, "I'm glad you asked me to dinner."

Pamela glanced at him.

"And why is that?"

"Because today was… actually a good day."

She tilted her head.

"Just today?"

"Okay," he admitted. "The last few days have been interesting too."

Pamela chuckled softly.

"I'm glad."

Another quiet moment passed.

Then she asked something unexpected.

"Noah… are you hiding something?"

His heart skipped.

"What?"

She looked at him calmly.

"Most people are easy to read."

"And I'm not?"

"You feel like someone who just arrived in the middle of a storm."

Noah forced a small smile.

"That sounds dramatic."

Pamela shrugged lightly.

"Maybe."

She didn't push further.

Instead, she leaned back slightly, looking up at the night sky through the tree branches.

The moonlight reflected faintly in her green eyes.

Noah noticed how peaceful she looked when she wasn't surrounded by people.

For a brief moment, he forgot she was one of Gotham's most dangerous villains.

Right now, she just looked like a woman enjoying a quiet night.

"You're thinking too loudly," she said suddenly.

Noah blinked.

"That's a thing?"

"It is when you stare like that."

He laughed awkwardly.

"Sorry."

Pamela smirked.

"So what were you thinking?"

Noah hesitated.

"Honestly?"

"Yes."

"I was thinking you don't seem like the scary person Gotham rumors talk about."

Pamela's smile faded slightly, replaced with something softer.

"Rumors have a way of twisting the truth."

"I figured."

She looked at him carefully.

"You're very trusting."

"Or very stupid."

"Maybe both," she said with a quiet laugh.

Noah leaned back against the bench.

"Tonight was nice."

"It was."

"I don't really go on many dates."

Pamela raised an eyebrow.

"Hard to believe."

"It's true."

"And yet here you are."

He shrugged.

"Guess I got lucky."

Pamela looked away toward the trees.

"You might regret saying that someday."

Noah watched her for a second before shaking his head.

"I doubt it."

The wind rustled the leaves above them.

Somewhere in the distance, a police siren echoed through Gotham.

Pamela stood up slowly.

"It's getting late."

Noah stood as well.

"Yeah."

They walked back toward the park entrance.

At the edge of the sidewalk, Pamela stopped and turned toward him.

"I enjoyed tonight."

"Me too."

She studied him for a moment.

Then she stepped closer and gently kissed his cheek.

It was quick, but warm.

When she stepped back, Noah was slightly stunned.

"Goodnight, Noah."

"Goodnight… Pamela."

She walked away down the street, her red hair glowing under the streetlights until she disappeared around the corner.

Noah stood there for a few seconds, touching his cheek.

"…Okay," he muttered to himself.

Then he laughed quietly.

"Gotham is insane."

He turned and began walking back toward his motel.

But as he walked, he didn't notice the dark shape watching from the rooftop across the street.

High above the city, hidden in the shadows, a pair of white lenses narrowed slightly.

The figure had been observing for a while.

Silent.

Calculating.

Because earlier that night… something unusual had appeared on Gotham's radar.

And now, the Dark Knight was starting to look for the source.
