My Heart Was Taken by Teacher Chen
"Brother Long! Fireworks releases tomorrow! Can you stream it?"
"I'm tired of watching you play that farming game every day!"
"Brother Long, check out the new game from Northstar Games!"
"Haolong! The true dragon in this world!"
"Fireworks only costs forty yuan. Just buy it!"
Inside a livestream room on MeowCast, the streamer DragonLong glanced lazily at the endless flood of comments scrolling across the screen.
He snorted and leaned back in his chair.
"What kind of garbage games does Northstar Games even make?" he said. "Brother Long isn't one of those brain-dead fans."
Then he waved his hand dismissively.
"All you Northstar addicts—get out of my livestream."
While speaking, he continued calmly planting pumpkins in the farming game he was currently streaming.
The viewers immediately fired back.
"Brother Long… Stardew Valley was made by Northstar Games."
"Classic DragonLong behavior—if everyone says something is good, he says it's bad."
"Look at this arrogant dog streamer!"
"Wait… Stardew Valley is also from Northstar?"
DragonLong froze for a moment.
Then he coughed awkwardly.
"Well… even if that's true, I still won't play it! Trash company, trash game!"
The chat exploded with laughter.
"Brother Long please! It's been forever since you played a horror game!"
"Xuan! Xuan! Xuan!"
"Brother Long don't play it! If you do, you're a dog!"
Because of that single comment revealing the game's developer, DragonLong immediately closed the game.
Then, after thinking for a moment—
He abruptly ended the stream.
No farewell.
No explanation.
Just gone.
That was completely normal for DragonLong.
He was a rich second-generation kid who streamed purely for fun. Streaming income meant nothing to him. Even if he stopped tomorrow, his family wealth alone would guarantee him a comfortable life.
In fact, after several years of streaming, he had already earned more money than most people could dream of.
For him, livestreaming was simply a habit.
His fans often joked that he was like an antisocial house dog, hiding at home and only communicating with the outside world through the internet.
Because he didn't rely on donations or fan support, DragonLong had developed a very strange streaming style.
If viewers told him to do something—
He wouldn't do it.
But if viewers told him not to do something—
Then he absolutely would.
Going against the crowd was his favorite hobby.
Rolling around on his bed lazily, DragonLong opened his phone and scrolled through his Official Blog.
"Heh…"
He smirked.
"Everyone wants Brother Long to play it."
"But Brother Long won't."
---
The Stream Returns
At exactly seven o'clock that evening, the livestream titled "Last DragonLong." suddenly went live.
Without saying a single word, DragonLong opened Skybound and began farming again in Stardew Valley.
He quietly harvested crops while waiting for viewers to gather.
The number of viewers slowly climbed.
One thousand.
Two thousand.
Three thousand.
Only after the room filled with several thousand viewers did he finally close the game.
He grabbed a bag of snacks and spoke casually.
"Later tonight," he said, "I'm going to stream a horror game."
"Anyone with a weak heart—leave now."
The chat instantly exploded.
"??? Didn't he say he wouldn't play Fireworks?"
"Classic tsundere DragonLong!"
"This dog streamer always does the opposite!"
"Kai Lewis: DragonLong, screw you!"
The truth was simple.
The previous night DragonLong had secretly checked his fan group.
Someone asked whether he would play Fireworks the next day.
Immediately dozens of fans replied:
"Better if he doesn't play."
"He'll just ruin the game."
"Don't let him stream it."
Those comments irritated him greatly.
You don't want me to play it?
Fine.
Then I'll play it just to annoy you.
"I want to see," DragonLong said confidently, "how scary this game really is."
Then he turned off the lights in his room.
"You cowards can watch with the lights on," he said. "Brother Long will play in the dark."
---
The First Horror
The game began quietly.
But DragonLong immediately got stuck in the first scene.
He kept walking the protagonist back and forth through the same dark corridor.
Again.
And again.
Finally he muttered nervously,
"…Is this a ghost wall?"
Eventually the character entered a mourning hall.
Inside stood a pale paper effigy.
Suddenly—
DragonLong screamed.
"AHHHHH!"
The chat burst into laughter.
But he quickly tried to recover his dignity.
"Ahem," he said. "Brother Long obviously isn't scared."
"I'm just entertaining you guys."
"It's only a 2D game. What's scary about this?"
Then he stepped forward.
Suddenly—
The paper effigy's eyes moved.
They slowly followed the character.
DragonLong nearly jumped out of his chair.
"Holy crap!"
The chat exploded.
"Eyes.jpg! Eyes.jpg!"
"Brother Long someone behind you wants to play!"
"Light the candle, dog brain!"
Despite the panic, DragonLong continued playing.
The graphics themselves weren't particularly terrifying.
But the atmosphere was different.
Burning paper money.
Portraits watching silently.
Whispered dialogue.
Something about the setting created a creeping feeling of unease.
DragonLong had grown up hearing stories about ghosts and spirits.
He didn't truly believe them.
But he never dared disrespect them either.
And strangely enough—
This simple horror game felt far more disturbing than the others he had played.

Teacher Chen Appears
Later during the investigation scene in a police station, a woman suddenly appeared on screen.
White blouse.
Blue skirt.
Red hair ribbon.
DragonLong panicked instantly.
"Is that another ghost?!"
But the chat reacted very differently.
"Roasted chicken incoming!"
"This character design is beautiful!"
"That's Teacher Chen!"
Through dialogue, DragonLong learned that Teacher Chen was a local schoolteacher helping investigate the disappearance of a child.
She believed the child's mother could not possibly harm her.
And she suspected a certain doctor might be involved.
After the conversation ended, DragonLong suddenly asked:
"…Wait. Who was that doctor again?"
The chat exploded in disbelief.
"You literally just met him!"
"Your brain is broken!"
DragonLong scratched his head.
"Why are these names so complicated? Wouldn't simple names be better?"
The audience immediately mocked him with variations of his own name.
DragonLong could only sigh helplessly.
---
The Story Deepens
As the investigation progressed, something unusual happened.
DragonLong stopped joking.
For once, he stopped reading the chat and focused on the story.
He was completely drawn into the mystery.
Clues about the tragic Tian family began to appear.
A small isolated town.
Strange traditions.
Secrets hidden for years.
Teacher Chen appeared repeatedly at critical moments.
DragonLong began to feel suspicious.
"Teacher Chen might actually be the villain," he said thoughtfully.
Some viewers agreed.
Her behavior seemed strange.
But when she joined the investigation and explained her motives—
DragonLong immediately changed his opinion.
"So Teacher Chen really is a good person."
---
The Flying Bird Memory
Later came the chapter called Flying Bird.
The player entered the memories of a little girl.
Teacher Chen appeared again.
Her voice was gentle.
"Why are you still here so late?"
"Detention?"
"Let's play a game."
"Close your eyes."
It was a simple childhood game.
Guess the smiling face.
Every direction had one.
"You guessed correctly," Teacher Chen said warmly.
"Now hurry home."
"It's okay."
"Tomorrow I'll still be your teacher."
"What I say counts."
DragonLong watched quietly.
The chat also grew silent.
Then the perspective changed.
The player became a small tadpole swimming through the child's imagination.
Words from the girl's notebook floated through the water.
"Teacher Chen and I folded many stars."
"I really like Teacher Chen."
"Teacher Chen said the words in my homework will grow into flowers."
Soft music played.
DragonLong laughed loudly to hide his feelings.
"Brother Long has become a word warrior!"
But everyone watching understood.
They had all been moved.
---
The Truth
Slowly the truth emerged.
The deaths in the family were caused by superstition.
The little girl had unknowingly poisoned her own family while trying to help them.
DragonLong sighed deeply.
"She just wanted everyone to be happy…"
He had no words left.
---
The Final Meeting
Later in the story Teacher Chen disappeared.
Under a quiet starry sky—
Inside a dry well—
The protagonist met her again.
Her voice was calm.
"I think I forgot what fear feels like."
"When I climbed out of the well and saw the stars…"
"I wanted to be the one who throws the rope."
DragonLong stared silently at the screen.
The chat slowly filled with the same message.
"Sorry, Teacher Chen."
---
The Ending
The case was solved.
The mystery ended.
But the story wasn't over.
Later the protagonist walked past the town bulletin board.
And there—
Teacher Chen's obituary.
Dead at twenty-seven years old.
DragonLong froze.
Nearby lay a soaked envelope.
Inside was a photograph.
Teacher Chen standing beside the protagonist.
Sad music played softly.
DragonLong whispered quietly,
"How could Brother Long forget…"
The protagonist looked toward distant fireworks.
"Two years… three years… five years…"
"If Teacher Chen is never found…"
"Will anyone still remember her?"
DragonLong shouted suddenly,
"I will!"
"Brother Long will remember!"
The chat exploded with emotion.
"Northstar Games, give us back Teacher Chen!"
"She deserved better!"
"Teacher Chen…"
"Sorry, Teacher Chen."
One final message scrolled across the screen.
"My heart was taken away by Teacher Chen."
"Perhaps in this life there will be no more joy or sorrow."
---
That same night at eleven o'clock—
A topic suddenly began climbing the trending list on the Official Blog.
Teacher Chen.
And right beside it another topic appeared.
Northstar Games… you have no heart.
