Chapter 180 - Chapter 178: New York is About to Be Chaotic Again (Part 5)

The enormous gray Rhino was directly thrown into the air by the Hulk.

Even though the ceiling of this hall was already very high, Rhino's figure still smashed through the glass of the roof, and he was thrown to an unknown location by the Hulk.

"Hulk—"

Having easily defeated his opponent, the Hulk furiously pounded his chest, seemingly not very satisfied with such a foe.

However, the current Hulk didn't need to worry about a lack of opponents at all.

Because with Rhino's easy defeat, more alien invaders, previously captured by the Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D., rushed out one after another from behind the path he had created by smashing through walls.

Among them was a refined man in a suit, emitting black and white smoke all over his body, his body losing color as if it were a negative film.

There were also ugly monsters, like human-shaped toads, lying on the ground, wildly flicking their long tongues.

There were even terrifying monsters whose entire bodies seemed to be pieced together from dark green sludge, covered in weeds and vines, as if they could barely maintain a human form.

Of course, there were more parallel World villains whose appearances looked no different from ordinary people but actually possessed various unique skills or superpowers.

For the current Avengers, all these individuals were their defeated foes; some were even weaklings captured by ordinary S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents.

However, all those previous captures were done one by one.

Now, when all these people gathered together, Steve and the others' expressions had already turned extremely grim.

And at this moment...

A gust of wind swept by, and countless fine sands quickly gathered into a human face in front of everyone.

This face roared furiously at the Avengers present.

"You!! All must die!!"

Amidst the roar, a storm of sand attacked them, and tiny grains of sand slapped painfully against their cheeks.

However, Steve and the others paid no attention to this insignificant pain.

Because they knew at this moment:

Whether they would die today was still unknown.

But right now, New York was about to be chaotic again!

Of course, whether New York was chaotic or not was actually not important to HYDRA.

The reason HYDRA didn't arrange many of their own people to attack the Avengers in that sub-Base, only choosing to release the alien invaders held by S.H.I.E.L.D., was to create chaos and tie up Steve and the others.

If these alien invaders could kill the Avengers members, that would be for the best; if they couldn't kill them, they at least had to prevent these people from leaving New York and interfering with their plans.

For Pierce and the others, Washington was their top priority.

As Pierce issued the activation command to all HYDRA members lurking within S.H.I.E.L.D.

Countless lurking HYDRA members pointed their guns at their former colleagues and comrades.

One second these people were discussing where to go have fun after work, the next, the smile on their companion's face, after looking at their phone, turned into a bullet delivered to their forehead.

A single 'Hail HYDRA!' instantly caused countless people to defect and many more to die with regret.

In just over ten minutes, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Triskelion had been completely controlled by HYDRA.

Apart from the few high-ranking Agents who escaped by their individual abilities, the remaining true S.H.I.E.L.D. members were either killed or captured, having completely lost their ability to resist.

And at this moment, on the ground floor of the Triskelion.

As the leader of the HYDRA-controlled S.H.I.E.L.D. faction, Alexander Pierce was respectfully standing to the side at this time, as if waiting to greet someone.

However, Crossbones Brock Rumlow, who was behind him and didn't know what a group of people were doing there, was quietly discussing with Agent Sitwell, who looked somewhat like a certain 'Professor', beside him.

"Pfft, pfft, do you know who we're waiting for? Haven't we already taken S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Although he was asking, Crossbones' facial expression remained unchanged, his hands were clasped behind his back, his posture was ramrod straight, and even when speaking, only the corner of his mouth moved slightly, his voice only audible to Agent Sitwell beside him.

Hearing Crossbones' words, Sitwell glanced at him, and similarly, with an unmoving face, softly replied,

"I don't know, but Secretary Pierce seems to have been very close to those 'Return Faction' people recently."

Crossbones raised an eyebrow slightly at this.

"Return Faction? Those old fogeys? We've taken S.H.I.E.L.D., and Project Insight is about to be launched. Why would the Secretary agree to them coming to take credit?"

Sitwell could only show a helpless expression at this, as he was also somewhat dissatisfied with his leader's behavior.

With the HYDRA Empire about to be established, he, as a meritorious minister, might even become an Imperial Minister or something. Now, if the 'Return Faction' was suddenly going to ride over them, wouldn't his hard-earned good life be ruined?

Of course, since Crossbones didn't even turn his head, he didn't know what expression Agent Sitwell made, let alone what he was thinking.

However, he didn't continue to dwell on this topic and brought up another question instead.

"By the way, wasn't Captain America on our side? Everyone was activated this time, so why was Captain America left in New York, mixed in with those Avengers?"

"I'm not sure? Perhaps Captain America has some special undercover mission? Like leading some Avengers to their deaths or something?"

"Then Captain America's work is truly hard!"

"Tell me about it!"

Well, although various rumors had been circulating within HYDRA before, such as 'Captain America disguised as Loki,' 'Captain America cloned by other HYDRA branches,' and even unreliable speculations like 'Parallel World Captain America.'

But as the two who personally experienced the 'Elevator Incident,' Crossbones and his companion had always firmly believed that Steve Rogers was their great 'HYDRA Captain.'

'How could we not know if this Captain America is real?'

In fact, many of the 'Captain America fans' within HYDRA were slowly developed from those who personally experienced the 'Elevator Incident.'

In any case, the higher-ups didn't stop them, which further indicated that their speculation was correct.

As for why they chose to conceal it? It must have been to protect such an important spy Agent as Steve, and they had no choice but to do so.

Sometimes, Crossbones even felt that Pierce was old and that the true HYDRA Captain should lead them instead.

Well, regardless of how the two of them were feeling indignant for their great HYDRA Captain in their hearts.

As they were speaking, the elevator in front of them opened again.

Alexander Pierce, who had been respectful before, now had an added touch of humility in his respectful posture.

At this moment, Crossbones and the others also seemed to understand why Pierce was acting this way.

The other people who appeared in the elevator were not important.

Because the 'person' leading them was actually a bizarre creature with an octopus face.

More importantly, this octopus face actually bore a seventy to eighty percent resemblance to their HYDRA emblem!
