The night deepened quietly, settling over the world without warning. Behind them, the Skybridge still shimmered in the starlight, but Sora and Null didn't linger. The mood had shifted. They stepped off the floating walkway and back into the luminous, radiant streets of Lumeris, their footsteps slower now as they adjusted to the new rhythm between them.
The city buzzed with light, but their attention remained fixed on the full, comfortable silence shared between them. Sora walked slightly ahead at first by habit, but she soon slowed her pace until they were side by side. Equal. Null noticed, but for once, he let the moment exist without poking at it.
A cool breeze carried the faint scent of night-blooming flowers. Without looking at him, Sora broke the quiet. "...Are you tired?"
Null glanced at her. "No. You?"
"No," she shook her head. She hesitated for a fraction of a second before exhaling softly. "Null-san... there's somewhere I'd like to take you."
Her tone was entirely serious, carrying a quiet, deliberate weight.
"Sounds important," he said lightly, but attentively.
"It is."
Null studied her for a moment, then gave a small nod. "Alright."
They walked on, leaving the lively markets behind for a wider, monumental district. The buildings grew grander, built from pale stone with intricate, pulsing runic engravings. At the end of a long ascending avenue, an ancient, untouched structure loomed out of the dark.
Null stopped in his tracks. "Wow."
The Legends Pantheon of Echoes rose before them like a monument carved directly from history itself.. Towering white pillars etched with glowing, fluid script reached toward the sky, flanking massive open gates. Above it all, a translucent circular dome floated in mid-air, rotating slowly while faint silhouettes flickered within its surface—the lingering echoes of memories. The air itself felt heavier here. Reverent.
Null tilted his head. "Alright. Where are we? And more importantly... is a museum really a standard date location around here?"
Sora smiled faintly. "This is not just a museum. It is a sacred historical site that preserves the belongings, records, and echoes of legendary figures from across the world. It houses one of the greatest Halls of Heroes in existence. Those enshrined here are individuals whose choices and sacrifices shaped the very course of humanity so they may never fade."
"To be remembered here…means they are worthy of becoming an unforgettable pillar of humanity."
Null nodded slowly, impressed. Then his eyes slid sideways, his usual mischief returning. "But Sora... why are we here on a date? Wait—don't tell me your hobby is history, and you brought me here to ambush me with a full academic lecture?"
He leaned a little closer, his eyes narrowing playfully. "Because I should warn you, I'm not academically prepared for this kind of ambush.
"Null-san."
"I didn't bring notes. Should I be concerned?"
"Null-san..."
"Will there be an exam?"
"NULL-SAN." Her composure cracked, a faint flush spreading across her cheeks as she snapped at his teasing.
Null's grin deepened. "How cute."
Sora's brain completely short-circuited.
"C-Cute?!" Crimson flooded her face, and she dropped into a frantic, hushed whisper. "Null-san, you cannot just say things like that out loud! And I do not trap people into lectures! At least... not for extended durations."
Null blinked. "So time-limited lectures?"
"THAT IS NOT THE POINT." Sora let out a small, defeated exhale, adjusting her posture to try and regain her footing.
"Ahem. Null-san... while it is true that I enjoy history, that is not why I brought you here tonight."
Null's smirk faded, his genuine curiosity returning. "Oh? Then why?"
The wind moved softly through the massive pillars as the glowing inscriptions simmered. Sora's fingers tightened slightly at her side.
"I brought you here," she said quietly, looking him directly in the eyes, "to tell you the true reason why you were summoned to this world."
The air shifted, turning suddenly cold. Null stilled completely.
"Although it may no longer change anything," Sora continued softly, "I believe it is only fair that you know."
Null's gaze sharpened, his brow furrowing. "The true reason? Wasn't it to prepare for the unsealing of that Evil Divinity?"
Sora shook her head slowly. "That is true. But not for you."
"What do you mean?"
Sora turned fully to face him, her expression dead serious. "You were never supposed to be summoned. You were never meant to be a part of the otherworldly summoning ritual."
Null stared at her, his mind instantly racing to connect the threads of his fifteen days in Elpis. "Then how did I—"
Sora turned toward the grand entrance, offering a gentle motion forward. "Come. Let's visit the Hall of Heroes. I will explain everything on the way."
Null stood there for a second longer, watching her step toward the open gates. The avenue no longer felt like a date; it felt like a threshold to a revelation.
"Yeah," he exhaled softly, and followed her into the Pantheon, where the past was never truly silent.
