Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: Ten Thousand Dollar Wine

[3rd POV]

The fact that Jay liked Hermès was ignored in favor for battling off Gloria so was trying to crush them in her shockingly powerful hug. The woman was damn strong, far stronger than she looks. She was also very insistent on giving each of them one. And Jay was...well, kind of a wimp when it came to stopping her.

But in his defense, the woman was damn scary when she wanted to be. Way scarier than Claire, and a lot more dangerous too. The woman could beat your ass and you won't be able to do anything to defend yourself.

Even Billie was a little nervous around her when she was mad.

"You really did not need to spend so much on us kid. I know that anything from that place is damn expensive, way more than what you should have spent on us. Especially on a damn bag and wallet" The man said, as they both looked at him, with even Gloria stopping her powerful hug and turning to him.

"Jay, aren't you the one that spent ten thousand dollars on a single bottle of wine?" Billie asked with a raised eyebrow, as Gloria and Haley also looked at him with deadpans on their faces.

The man had coughed awkwardly upon hearing this response.

"Yeah well that wine can be sold for more! It's a damn good investment" Jay replied heatedly, well, he spoke heatedly. In actuality he was trying not to show how much he was sweating, since Gloria did...not know about the prices of his alcohol.

"Oh? Really? Where is this wine then, Jay? May I see it? If it's such a good investment opportunity, I would love to learn more about it" Gloria responded to a wide smile on her face, a very fake smile, and a creepy one.

"Ah well..."

"You drank all of it, didn't you?" Haley asked with a deadpan on her face, as her grandfather looked at her with an awkward expression on his face. He looked away, trying not to show a bead of sweat trickled down his forehead.

"Jay, you cannot say anything about us buying gifts worth that much, when you bought a bottle of wine that cost ten grand, only to then drink that bottle. At least what we bought will last years" Billie added, staring at the man while Gloria shook her head.

'Well, they will probably last that long' Billie thought, but she didn't say that out loud. She had no idea how durable they all were, and if they would stand the test of time or not. And quite frankly, she had no interest in finding that out.

She'd probably end up getting a replacement gift eventually anyways.

'Speaking of gifts, I wonder if I should get something for Kylie and Kendall for when we first meet? Or maybe later on into our lessons once they get a bit better at everything?' Billie thought, deciding to think about that a bit more later on, since she currently had more important things to do.

"Yeah welll...the wine was damn good, so you can't judge me for it" Jay replied with a low grumble, as Gloria rolled her eyes.

"Oh Jay, no wine is good enough to cost that much. And don't you say that no wallet or bag is good enough to be worth ten thousand dollars, because we both know that that is not true. What the girls had bought us are great gifts, and you should be thankful for it rather than complain" Gloria said to her husband, as he locked eyes with her, seeing the small glare she was sending his way.

"Alright, sorry kids. I won't question your decision to buy a bag worth twenty grand anymore" Jay replied with a slight bit of sarcasm in his voice. But upon seeing the look his wife was giving him, he dropped it.

"So, what did you two do while in Paris?" Jay asked, moving on from that little argument, not wanting it to go any longer than necessary. He did not want more of his questionable spending habits to be brought up.

Like his very lucrative spending involving golf.

Or the amount of expensive cigars he has bought over the years.

There were a LOT more things that he had bought that were not needed, than what Haley and Billie had bought so far. The man had been buying unnecessary stuff for longer than they had been alive. They've been doing it for barely a month.

Hearing the question that they had been asked, Haley and Billie looked at one another. They could both very easily tell that this was Jay's form of trying to change the conversation, they were tempted to continue to mess with him, but they decided to answer his question.

Well at least Haley did.

"Well it was a lot, so it'll take a while to explain it all. But it started with a cafe" Haley said, as they soon began to talk about their trip, and what they had done there.

__________

Another thirty minutes or so later, and their conversation regarding the trip was finished and done with. They had explained quite a lot of what they had one there, and had also brought up a few other things that they had planned on doing but didn't have the time for.

The one thing that they had both agreed on not bringing up was the car, which they had kept quiet about. The house was obviously the other thing, but that was something they'd be worrying about in the new year, since they had to first wait until after Billie deals with the Ellen Degeneres show and everything else going on around that time.

They also had to of course get the permission from both Claire and Phil, which would be a very interesting task. Claire was already a bit..antsy at the fact that Haley had decided against going to college yet, but add on the car and then bring up the idea of living together in a house?

That would make her go over the edge, and would likely result in a large argument that nobody wants, and nobody wants to deal with. And arguments with Claire tended to last a long time. This was mostly because of her inability to let stuff go, and her ability to hold grudges for a long damn time.

Billie decided that she would need to find a way to help Claire with that, as it was not healthy to have so many grudges and other stuff that was similarly saying down on you.

She did also bring up the fact that she might be going to teach two people, and while she had not said who, she had given a small hint by saying that they were both younger than her and Haley. It was only a matter of time before Gloria realized who she was talking about.

The woman watched quite a few reality tv shows, with even Jay joining them every once in a while. The person that REALLY liked Keeping up with the Kardashians was Mitchell and even Claire to an extent.

She watched it for the drama and arguing and that is all. While Gloria had sometimes watched it because she had been told about it before by Mitchell and Claire.

Either way, the two had left Jay's home, and were now arriving at the Dunphy household, all the while Haley had only one thought on her mind.

'Please go well!'
