Chapter 21 - 20. Test (Part Two)

The exam ended. Each student had received their rank and their class. Leanor Bherliend secured the position of top student along with Haidan Mirmod, the youngest son of Duke Mirmod who served as head of the noble council. The two were given the category of a perfect pair at the academy, between Ice and fire.

Then the others, some of them got high ranks until they could enter the same class as Leanor and Lucas. Those who were eliminated from the elite class would enter the middle class, with middle ranks. Not many students entered the class called the discarded class.

For this year, only Louis received the lowest rank and the discarded class. How could this happen? Out of the many students, why was it only him alone? And if you looked toward Louis, he instead looked happy. Did he bump into something during the journey here that made him go crazy? Maybe.

"What is this? Why is this place such a mess?"

Let's turn back. There, Matthius was walking closer along with a handsome man even though his age looked no longer young. He was a middle-aged man who was charismatic and had high self-worth. His silver-colored hair and eyes were truly stunning. His perfect appearance refused to look old. He was one of the academy professors as well as a grand magician.

"Professor Thorne!" Clara cried out, shocked, seeing Thorne Mistwood standing perfectly before her along with the crown prince.

"Hey, hey. Isn't the one beside him His Highness Matthius?"

"Did he come to try doing it again?"

"No matter how hard His Highness tries, won't the result remain the same?"

"Stt...! There are rumors saying that His Highness can cut through anything with his sword."

"Even without magic at all?"

"Right. I once saw for myself how His Highness cut off the head of an abnormal monster with just a sword."

The whispers of senior students who deliberately came to watch from above. There were only a few students. The arrival of Matthius made them start guessing the same thing. Because, for three years in a row Matthius would come for the same reason. They came to understand because of it.

"Explain!" Thorne ordered Clara.

Clara brought her face closer, then said, "This year's students really got me excited! I like it. I kept, and kept, raising the exam level until... boom! Satisfying!"

Thorne's face remained the same, even though in front of him was a super sexy woman posing naughtily. "Who gave you permission? And, you conducted the exam without knowing the dominant elements of the students? Are you stupid?" he asked with an annoyed tone.

Clara moved away while pouting her lips. "It's fine, right? Anyway, they're all great" She replied with a quiet tone

Thorne massaged his temple slowly, "All of you... how can you so easily trust her who is this strange?" He asked while placing a crystal ball before the students. "Alright. Place your hands on this crystal one by one in turn."

"Do we have to take the exam again." Asked a student with an anxious face. He had already been knocked back hard by Clara's clones four times.

"No. Just by successfully passing Clara alone already exceeds the exam score it should. This time you only need to place your hand on it, and with that the crystal will shine according to the color that represents your element." Thorne explained

"Wait, big brother!" Clara cut in, making Thorne turn back toward her. "There is one problematic student."

Louis approached with a nervous feeling. "U-um... I can't use basic magic. Can you teach me, Professor?"

"Can't use basic magic? What's your name?"

"Louis. Louis De Artar."

"De Artar? You come from the same place as Sam?" Thorne asked while opening his status window, searching for data about Louis.

"Correct. The townspeople gave me that last name."

"You don't have a guardian? Moreover, that city is a border region between the demon world and the human world. Almost eighty percent of demon monster species are there."

"Before, I lived in an orphanage with my seven siblings. However, we ran away after finding out they would sell us as slaves, then we got separated."

"What a tragic fate you have." Thorne finished researching about Louis from his status window. "Try to find out your magic element first, then I will decide."

Clara approached, bringing the magic crystal before Louis. Louis placed one of his hands on the crystal with his eyes closed. He could feel the flow of pure magic from the main power point of the crystal. Warm and calming to the soul, as if he received enlightenment. This was light mana. The crystal contained great light mana.

"It isn't showing any reaction?!" Thorne was very, very shocked at the result from the magic crystal, making Louis open his eyes. "How is this possible? At least if he couldn't do magic, a silver color would be visible."

"Is this bad?" Louis asked innocently.

Thorne was silent for a moment before answering, "Very bad, it even makes me not know what else to say." He shook his head slowly, full of despair. However when he looked at Louis properly, his mouth gaped. "A smile? Am I hallucinating?" He thought.

Clara glanced at Thorne. The man's face was the same as hers when seeing Louis' expression at his failure. "Right, isn't it! This really doesn't make sense!" She cried out in her heart.

"Do I have to leave the academy?" asked Louis, breaking the silence between Thorne and Clara.

"Ah, wait!" Thorne snapped out of his silence. "From what I see, your grades and intelligence achieved the highest scores among the other students. I'm thinking of keeping you as a future supporter of grand magicians. Do your best." He decided.

"Big brother gave him a conditional pass, huh." Clara nodded, understanding.

"Thank you, Professor!" Louis shouted hysterically with his position bowing deeply.

"Do your best."
