Hogwarts is a seven-year institution—essentially a combined middle and high school.
While third-year students don't face any major exams, their curriculum dives significantly deeper than the first two years. Historically, the school's teaching staff had always been stretched painfully thin. But things were different now.
Owen had brought back ten elderly witches and wizards, all hovering around sixty years old, to take over the curriculum for the third years and below. This allowed Professor McGonagall and the core faculty to focus exclusively on the fourth years and up.
Even with this influx of "new" blood, the average age of the Hogwarts staff didn't drop below seventy.

Mr. Green—currently the Muggle Studies professor—was feeling a bit like a clueless Muggle himself right about now.
He recognized these elderly newcomers. These were his people. They were the ones who had followed him for decades, transitioning from spirited, energetic youths into white-haired seniors. Seeing them here, the old Dark Lord felt a rare, fleeting pang of sorrow.
But it was only a little bit.
The moment his eyes shifted to the younger, unfathomably calm wizard standing before them, that sorrow vanished. He knew with absolute certainty that the boy would succeed where he had failed. Someone was finally going to finish what he started.
Dumbledore was equally on edge. He recognized them, too.
Back during Grindelwald's peak, these individuals weren't the ones standing directly behind him—their magical power hadn't quite made the cut back then. But what they lacked in raw power, they made up for in sheer, unadulterated fanaticism. And that fanatical devotion had burned brightly all the way to the present day.
Sixty years old. For a wizard, that was the absolute prime of their life!
Owen bringing them in as professors... well, it wasn't strictly against the rules. But Dumbledore couldn't help the anxiety gnawing at his gut.
"My Lord."
The group of elderly wizards and witches bowed deeply to Grindelwald. Then, in perfect unison, they marched over and lined up squarely behind Owen.
They had made their choice. By swearing their allegiance to Owen, he became their one and only master. Even Grindelwald himself couldn't give them orders anymore.
Seeing this shift in power, Dumbledore finally let out a long sigh of relief. He would always keep his guard up around his old friend, but he had zero doubts about Owen—the young wizard he had practically watched grow up.

With the teaching staff doubled, the students' academic workload remained unchanged, but the professors felt like they had been handed a new lease on life.
Before, the teachers were always rushing through the corridors, practically wishing they could ride broomsticks just to make it to their next class on time. Now? The pace was leisurely. Professor Flitwick even had the luxury of enjoying a small drink with his lunch.
Professor Sprout was equally thrilled. She immediately expanded the magical creature greenhouses by six, dividing them perfectly according to the curriculum.
Once the plump witch saw the meticulous cultivation methods used by the new, elderly Herbology assistants, she completely relaxed. Instead of taking a break, she immediately went out and built three more greenhouses.
Virtually every subject had been split by year level to ease the burden. Well, every subject except for two: Defense Against the Dark Arts and Divination.
Naturally, the professors of those two classes were less than thrilled.

Remus Lupin had barely voiced his request for help when Owen ruthlessly shut him down.
"Professor Lupin, you are one of the exceedingly rare, genuinely competent professors we've had in years. Plus, you're still young. You should be taking on more responsibility. Why are you always thinking about taking a break?"
That single phrase—you're still young—completely checkmated Lupin. He had no rebuttal.
And honestly, Owen wasn't wrong. Lupin was actually starting to thoroughly enjoy his time here. Even after his identity as a werewolf was exposed, not a single student was afraid of him. If anything, he was vastly more popular than before.
Eventually, unable to resist the students' relentless pleading, he actually transformed in front of the entire school.
Overnight, he became a superstar professor. The students majoring in Potions were especially fanatic about him—after all, the Wolfsbane Potion was a high-tier brew and practically a guaranteed exam question every single year.
Initially, Lupin was surprised by how well he was received. But then he took a good look around the grounds:
Students dragging a massive, terrifying Basilisk by its tail to use as a sled on the grass.
The Giant Squid and the Merpeople whipping up artificial waves so the kids could go surfing in the Black Lake.
The Whomping Willow being utilized as a high-stakes agility training obstacle course.
Seeing all that, Lupin finally realized the truth: This wasn't the Hogwarts he remembered. The entire culture had completely shifted.

The other unhappy faculty member was Sybill Trelawney.
Even by Hogwarts standards, the Divination professor was a profoundly mysterious figure. She rarely attended banquets or school events, and when she did, she kept such a low profile that people easily forgot she was even there.
Yet, her relationship with Owen was surprisingly excellent.
Before Owen's arrival, Trelawney's status at the school was rock bottom. She was a professor in name, but she had absolutely zero voice or authority. The frustration had driven her to the bottle.
But shortly after Owen arrived and got to know her, he completely cut off her alcohol supply. He provided her with a much healthier, highly effective method to enter her mystical trances. As a result, her divination success rate skyrocketed, and a flood of new students signed up for her class.
But Divination is a subject where raw talent matters infinitely more than hard work. She couldn't accept just anyone. Because of this, she only needed to teach two Divination classes a week. However, she was also saddled with teaching Astronomy.
She had come to find Owen specifically to ask if she could drop Astronomy and focus purely on her Divination students.
But unlike Lupin, she never even got the words out.
Seeing the young wizard sitting there, his face completely buried in a mountain of notebooks, Trelawney's heart ached for him. It hit her all at once: Owen was still just a student. He was just a kid working incredibly, unbelievably hard, pushing his academic progress a bit faster than his peers.
She just couldn't bring herself to add to his plate.

After dinner, Owen spent some time clarifying lecture points for a few students. But instead of crawling into bed or burying his face in a book afterward, he headed straight for the Forbidden Forest.
He had a mediation job to do.
The conflict between the Acromantulas and the Centaurs had escalated to a point where outside intervention was mandatory. They had clashed eight times in just ten days, single-handedly destroying a fortieth of the forest's timber.
Hogwarts couldn't absorb that kind of loss much longer. Those weren't just ancient trees falling over—that was money burning!
And right now, even though he was only a Teaching Assistant, Owen was the one holding the strings to Hogwarts' coin purse. Every single financial approval had to pass through his hands.
It couldn't be helped. Dumbledore was entirely hands-off, and Deputy Headmistress McGonagall was already drowning in administrative duties. They had no choice but to hand the headache-inducing finances over to the young wizard who actually knew how to make money grow.
"Why is it you? Where is Dumbledore? Or Hagrid?"
The slight upward curve of Owen's lips instantly flatlined.
"What? You've got a problem with me?" Owen's voice was ice. "Fine. Go right ahead. Fight. Keep killing each other until one of your species is entirely extinct. Come on, make your move!"
These two factions were the only magical creatures in the entire Forbidden Forest that hadn't warmed up to him. And frankly, Owen had zero patience for their attitude. You don't like me? Well, the feeling is entirely mutual.
Seeing both the towering spiders and the proud Centaurs finally fall silent, Owen gave his small wand a sharp flick.
A glowing map of the Forbidden Forest materialized in the air between them. He drew two harsh, glowing circles on it.
"From this day forward, the Acromantula territory is in the West. The Centaur territory is in the East. These are your strictly designated zones. If you step out of bounds, Hogwarts will levy immediate sanctions against you. And trust me—the consequences are not something you will be able to survive."
