Greed looked up at the sky. The sun was beginning to fall.
"The yellow ball is crushing," he said quietly.
Sloth glanced at him.
"What?"
Greed shook his head.
"Nothing. What do you think this test is?"
Sloth sighed.
"The test is for us to die. Don't think about it. Let's just kill every creature that fool described."
Greed fell silent.
Kill.
The word felt wrong.
Why?
He couldn't understand why it unsettled him.
Sloth looked at Greed. His aura was calm... almost beautiful.
"I'll find out," Greed murmured.
He bent down and picked up a rock.
With all his strength, he hurled it into the trees.
Crack!
The rock struck a large brown beast directly between the eyes.
The creature collapsed instantly.
One throw.
One hit.
One kill
Sloth looked at Greed.
"Greed... I want to sleep."
Greed stared into Sloth's eyes.
There was nothing in them.
No excitement.
No fear.
Only endless emptiness.
Sloth looked around the forest.
"Bring every creature here."
He lay down beneath a tree.
"I'll kill them all."
Greed frowned.
"That won't be easy."
Sloth closed his eyes.
"I know."
Within seconds, he was asleep.
Greed dragged the body of the brown beast through the forest. He tore off pieces of its meat and scattered them beneath nearby trees, leaving a trail of blood behind.
Hours passed.
The scent spread through the forest.
One by one, the creatures came.
Small.
Large.
Fast.
Strong.
They followed the trail toward the sleeping boy
But among them was one beast unlike the rest.
Greed called it the King of Beasts.
The moment it arrived, every other creature kept its distance.
Its eyes locked onto the sleeping Sloth.
Greed felt a chill run through his body.
As he stared into the beast's eyes, it was as if he could hear its thoughts.
Fool.
Without warning, it leaped.
Greed froze in shock.
Just before its jaws could close...
Sloth's hand shot up and seized the beast by the throat.
But it was too late.
The beast's fangs had already sunk into Sloth's neck.
Blood trickled down his skin.
The forest fell silent
