Synopsis
I still remember that day as vividly as if it were yesterday—perhaps even more so. According to Elias, it was a blessing bestowed upon me; Ignacius agreed. But I could only see it as a curse. I witnessed parents turn on their children and children on their parents. I watched my loved ones devour one another's flesh while I huddled behind the sanctuary of my home, peering out through a small window as the horror unfolded. Strangely, I wasn't overtaken by the madness that gripped everyone else that day—the madness that drove every living thing to attack anything that moved. I heard incoherent murmurs of prophetic voices, all speaking in unison in a peculiar tongue that, oddly enough, I understood. They foretold great treasures and foretold catastrophes that would befall Earth, other planets, and even the universe itself. In total, they recited seventy-three events destined to occur. Despite not yet possessing an eidetic memory, I retained every single one of those prophecies with uncanny precision. You might wonder how I can be so sure they were genuine prophecies and not mere lunatic ramblings. The reason is simple: out of those seventy-nine thousand eight hundred and seventy-three predictions spanning the last sixty-four thousand years, seventy-two have already come to pass. Some prophecies my party and I exploited to our advantage, others we thwarted, and some—even we could not alter. We have migrated across planets, galaxies, and even entire universes in the name of survival. But this final prophecy is different. We cannot escape its fate by fleeing to another realm, for it heralds the complete destruction of our very existence. Before I continue, you must understand the whole story from where it all began, from the first day of Stellar Year 0—the day everything started; the day we now call the End of Time.

Chapter 1 - The Day It All Started

Although the house's interior was less chaotic than the turmoil outside, the scene remained hauntingly bizarre. Faded traces of the original beige walls peeked out from beneath the cover of a bright golden liquid. A boy, looking to be about 19 years old, with silver hair, a pale complexion, slender frame and a height of about 5 feet 8 lay sprawled on the floor. His clothes were stained with a mix of blood and the same golden substance that tinted the walls and the floor.

Weirdly enough, golden rain poured inside- not through holes in the ceiling, but as if from the roof itself. The rain, even if one were to ignore its golden color, had many unusual characteristics. For one, no matter where it fell, it never produced any sound. It also behaved differently to organic and inorganic material. The moment it touched any inorganic material, whether it be the walls, floor or a table, passed through, leaving only a faint layer of gold. But when it came to organic substance, the droplets acted like corrosive acid as they touched the boy lying on the floor or the fruits lying on the table.

Ten, twenty, or maybe hundred days, or even several years had passed since the arrival of the rain. Time had lost its meaning. Every bit of land on the planet was now golden, whether it be the mountains, the cities, or even the ocean floor. The torment upon the living creatures which looked no less than a golden statue, seemed to have stopped by now, as the golden liquid now behaved the same as it did on the inorganic stuff.

Then, all of a sudden, the boys eyes snapped open, and the rain ceased. The golden layer that covered all creatures on the world, suddenly begin to fade as if absorbed by their bodies. Beings across the planet, started to show signs of waking up. Their bodies began to tremble and their eyes opened. Everyone's eyes though, appeared red, with golden pupils. Their bodies, emitted a strange golden radiance.

The boy though, remained an enigma. Instead of the red and golden colors emitted by the rest, his eyes emitted a deep purple hue with his body emitting a similar radiance. The Golden layer that covered the boy earlier, had long been absorbed by his own body, healing him from the various injuries that had earlier been bestowed on him by the very same liquid. The boy, now without the liquid covering him, although was without any injuries, the evidence in the form of blood completely covered his face, his now golden clothes, and his toes. The boy looked nothing less of a monster in this moment.

Feeling all the pain that he felt just moments ago totally vanishing, and his body free from any form of fatigue, Thanatos, the boy stood up, surveying his surroundings. The room looked the same as before those golden drops began to appear from the sky, just everything apart from his own face and some fruits lying on the table, everything golden.

Thanatos made the mistake of looking outside the window, which made his heart tremble. The ground appeared completely golden, with the sky blood red. In just one look Thanatos spotted several people, in a similar state as him, though still lying on the street. Even though Thanatos, like all other creatures on the planet, had no idea of what had befallen on the planet, as a result of losing consciousness, the moment the first drop of rain fell, he still remembered feeling a lot of pain. And looking at the state outside, and the strange radiance being emitted by all the people and even the cat that used to roam around the street previously, made him certain that something was wrong, and he dared not go out to help anyone.

Though he wanted to believe that his gut feeling was wrong, and he was hallucinating that radiance coming out of people and the state outside. His instincts, proved right, as moments later, the people on the floor began to show some changes. As the people started standing up, their bodies began to twitch and tremble. Some people's bodies showed signs of swelling, the cat was now more than three times its original size. The growth in it seemed to have stopped, but one single look at its now crimson eyes gave Thanatos the idea of looking at a bottomless abyss, even though the cat was easily fifteen meters from him.

Within moments of gaining full consciousness, the cat lunged at a person near it, going through a similar transformation. A stream of blood erupted as the cat tore off the persons head from their body in a single movement. Not even stopping for a moment, the cat lunged at someone else tearing their head in a similar manner. In a matter of some seconds, the cat had already killed six people.

The cat appeared not a bit tired from its killing spree, but by now, others too began showing signs of consciousness. A metal bat smashed on the cat, squashing it into a pool of blood while the wielder moved on to locate its next victim, a dangling head of someone who had yet to fully transform lying in its other hand. But it was not the bat, or the squashed monster of a cat, and not even the head that terrified Thanatos as much as the identity of the wielder. Though only traces of her original appearance remained behind the bloodied face and the nearly three-meter physique, Thanatos could still tell it was Emilia.

A kid, who had just turned five on the day the rain started. The entire street knew her as a soft-hearted person, who won't even purposefully kill a bug. Thanatos remembered being handed a chocolate by her on his way home that day, her smiling and racing through the entire street distributing chocolates to people in the street, telling everyone, that she was finally five. An orphan, having lost her parents, before she could even learn to speak, she lived with her grandmother. It was the very same grandmother, whose head she was now holding.

Thanatos's eyes met Emila's. His legs gave up; he collapsed on the floor with his knees and placed his hands on his ears. He no longer had any courage remaining to look outside. He leaned on the wall, closed his eyes and just waited for this hellish nightmare to end, waking up, back to his usual life of study and work.

After what seemed to be hours, the screams outside paused as the world fell into an eerie silence. But before he could stand up and check the situation outside from the window, his stomach churned as he puked up the very same golden liquid that once covered the world. The purple hue in his eyes deepened as a purple radiance, similar to the golden one that had enveloped others, surrounded him. It was at that moment that another thunderous sound shook the world, and Bob lost consciousness. The purple radiance, however, continued to emanate from Bob's body as it continued to grow in intensity. The light spread out at an unfathomable speed. It only took a hundredth of a second for the light to spread beyond the city and a few seconds to cover more than half the world, destroying everything, whether it be buildings, infrastructure or even life in its wake.

By then, the golden radiance too started retaliating. The red sky now turned into a mixture of purple and gold. The ground that had earlier grown silent was brought back to chaos. The conquest for control between both the radiances seemed to have started affecting the lives too, as nearly half the creatures were obliterated, and the others seemed to approach that state soon. Of the two radiances, neither one seemed to have the upper hand; their quest to defeat the other continued for hours until all the oceans and seas dried up, buildings and mountains crumbled, and life ended. No, not all life. There was still one person, at the very centre of the purple radiance, who, though, seemed to have his clothes reduced to ashes and his complexion very weak was still breathing.

All of a sudden, the two energies retreated and the chaotic world seemed to calm down as a divine green energy spread throughout the world, winds seeming to calm the very universe began to chime. In that moment, time itself seemed to have stopped as both the energies retreated, leaving a barren, dry world with a single human.
