The sombre part of his mind was telling him not to get carried away and lose his head due to foolishness and greed. It was a good thing. Unfortunately, it was a losing battle because the part of him that was excited also had good reasons for being confident.
These two emotions were still battling within him when he reached the underground caves. But once he arrived at his destination, the two of them were killed and replaced with solemnity.
He discarded both excitement and wariness for focus. This was because it didn't matter what he thought about the plan anymore.
At this point, he needed to focus and go all in to ensure success and preserve his life. It wouldn't be of any help to second-guess himself or get distracted by excitement.
Unlike the last time he was here, he didn't go underground. He stood above the forest on top of the caves. Then he unleashed the power of his external body.
