Everyone followed Zhou Min to the corner of the northwest city wall, where the western and northern walls met.
As soon as they entered the corner watchtower, Mu Nianbing noticed a bustling scene.
There were Military Mages, Hunter Mages, and even vendors selling magic tools, potions, and spoils of war.
Under Zhou Min's guidance, they passed through the crowd and arrived at a small, partitioned room.
Inside, several students in the Ancient Capital Academy's uniforms were already seated.
The Ancient Capital Academy was one of the top academies in the country.
Though not on the same level as the Imperial Capital Academy or Pearl Institute, it was still highly regarded.
Each of the students wore a Mage Emblem on their chest—a mark of both identity and cultivation.
For young Mages, this emblem was something to show off. The stronger their cultivation, the prouder they were to wear it.
Mu Nianbing had three Mage Emblems in total.
His Space Element was still pending registration at the Magic Association, so he had two Advanced Emblems and one Middle-level Emblem.
Before entering the watchtower, he had chosen to wear his Summoning Element Mage Emblem.
He wasn't interested in pretending to be weak, so he didn't bother using the Middle-level one.
As for the Ice Element, he avoided wearing that emblem—it had already reached the third tier of the Advanced level, which would draw far too much attention.
"Advanced?"
"This guy's an Advanced Mage?"
The moment Mu Nianbing stepped inside, several students noticed the emblem gleaming on his chest.
He looked about their age, yet he had already reached the Advanced level. How was that even possible?
"Hmph! Advanced Mage, my foot. He probably stole that emblem," a slightly chubby student sneered.
Their academy had never produced such a prodigy, so he refused to believe it.
Mu Nianbing frowned slightly. He had shown his credentials, and yet someone still dared to provoke him?
"Why don't you try stealing one yourself?"
Though Nianbing didn't like dealing with idiots, he knew people like this needed to be taught a lesson.
A Mage Emblem was equivalent to a Mage's ID—stealing one was practically suicide.
"Heh, you sound nervous," the chubby student mocked again.
"Go to hell."
A silver light flashed through Mu Nianbing's eyes. An invisible force exploded outward, and the student was flung across the room.
He slammed into the wall with a heavy bang, coughed up blood, and collapsed unconscious.
Zhou Min, Mu Bai, and the others were stunned.
Wasn't that a bit too ruthless?
Mo Fan, however, stayed calm. Compared to the incident with Lu Zhenghe from the Imperial Capital Academy, this was mild.
Besides, the guy had asked for it—Mu Nianbing had already shown his identity.
The rest of the students turned pale with fear, quickly picking up the injured one and retreating.
"Uh… are we still going out to hunt the Undead now?" Wang Sanpang asked cautiously after a moment of silence.
Zhou Min gave Nianbing a helpless look. After this scene, how was she supposed to face her classmates again?
"You guys stay here. I'll go alone," Nianbing said calmly.
He felt no regret for his actions. Even if he hadn't acted now, his hand would've been far heavier outside the city.
"I'll go too," Mo Fan said at once.
He hadn't taken the confrontation seriously—and besides, he needed to kill Undead to earn money.
"Suit yourself."
Without another word, Mu Nianbing stepped onto the city wall's edge, activated his Magic Fall Boots, and descended in a blur of motion.
Mo Fan followed immediately, his body melting into shadow form as he dashed downward—his speed even slightly faster than Nianbing's.
"They just… jumped off the wall?" Zhou Min said in disbelief.
There were countless Undead lurking outside. Even for an Advanced Mage, that kind of recklessness was insane.
"We'll wait for them here," Mu Bai said calmly.
He knew well that Mu Nianbing's strength was on a completely different level. With a few Intermediate-level Mages like them, they'd only get in his way.
At the base of the city wall, Nianbing summoned his Cang Ming Flood Dragon.
The massive creature appeared in a swirl of mist, scales glinting under the moonlight, and immediately carried him away into the night.
"Hey! I haven't even gotten on yet!" Mo Fan shouted, completely dumbfounded.
He'd been abandoned just like that?
That's too cruel!
Glancing around at the Undead crawling from every direction, Mo Fan swallowed hard.
Between the danger and his endless debts, he decided the danger was easier to face.
Summoning his Gale Wolf, he leaped onto its back and sped after Nianbing—though the wolf's speed couldn't compare to the Flood Dragon's.
He could only hope Nianbing would wipe out the strong ones so he could clean up the scraps.
"Another Great Corpse General…" Nianbing muttered, his gaze locking onto a black shadow ahead.
From its aura, it was clearly a Great Corpse General.
He had already encountered several Corpse Generals along the way.
Each time he slew one, he used his Scythe of Death to harvest its essence and bind it under his control.
The Undead army he was building might prove useful soon.
The only disappointment was that he hadn't found a single Commander-level Undead.
Still, it made sense—if one appeared, teams of Mages would be dispatched instantly. A Commander-level threat never went unnoticed.
If he wanted to encounter one, he'd have to wait until the Evil Abyss fully manifested.
As he pondered, the Cang Ming Flood Dragon released a deafening roar, launching a massive Water Spear that pierced straight through the Great Corpse General's head.
For a living creature, that would have been fatal. But for the Undead, unless their Undead Crystal was destroyed, they could still rise again.
The creature staggered, then pushed itself upright, its dark aura surging once more.
So its crystal wasn't in its head, huh?
Before Nianbing could act again, a small white figure slipped from his collar—the Little Snow Girl.
She flew through the air and landed lightly atop the Great Corpse General's skull.
Snowflakes began to swirl down from the sky, freezing everything they touched.
In moments, the Great Corpse General was encased in ice.
Then, with a sharp crack, the icy shell exploded into countless glittering shards.
Aside from the Light Element, the Ice Element was the most effective weapon against the Undead.
Nianbing collected the spirit essence with his ghost vessel. But just as he finished, a blood-red light suddenly flared from the direction of the city wall.
It illuminated the night sky like a crimson veil.
"Buzz… buzz…"
Moments later, a series of powerful bells rang out—deep, resonant, and unrelenting.
The sound spread through both the inner and outer cities, filling every Mage's heart with urgency.
"It's here."
Mu Nianbing's eyes narrowed.
The signal was unmistakable—
The Evil Abyss had awakened.
