Chapter 199 - chapter 198:"Hidden Agitation"

Len evaluated the static facial features of the two sisters in alternating sequences. A sudden wave of mild perplexity manifested across his profound golden pupils. Tilting his neck slightly toward the side, he inquired in a bewildered frequency, "Liana... what parameters are prompting you to stare at my frame in this manner?"

A subtle, enigmatic smile floated across the contours of Liana's lips. Pausing briefly at her coordinate, she introduced a fluid grace into her strides, advancing two steps directly toward Len's position. Deepening the smile across her countenance, she articulated in an exceptionally calm frequency, "Nothing..."

The absolute microsecond that token departed her lips, a sudden, sharp velocity occupied Liana's displacement. Closing the distance within a fraction of a second, she anchored her frame directly adjacent to Len.

Before Len could calibrate his positioning or execute a retreat, Liana elevated both arms rapidly through the drafts, locking her fingers firmly around both of Len's ears and applying a powerful upward mechanical force!

"Ah! That generates pain..." An abrupt vocal reaction escaped Len's throat as he elevated his neck slightly to moderate the intense mechanical tension applied against his ears.

Without relaxing the tension of her grip around his ears, Liana intensified the severity of her countenance, projecting a rigid inquiry, "To what coordinates did you abruptly vanish yesterday? Where did you translate yourself without delivering prior notice?"

Len elevated both hands, gently pressing against Liana's wrists in an attempt to alleviate the physical friction. Blinking his eyelids with an helpless expression, he delivered an explanation in a subdued frequency:

"I genuinely possess zero consciousness! The microsecond my eyelids disengaged this morning... I registered my presence right within this ruined sector. My vision opened directly adjacent to the collapsed parking quadrant of this old structure..."

Len's eyebrows contracted under the physical tension of the pull. Gently pressing his fingers against Liana's wrists, he delivered a subdued plea, "Liana... kindly disengage your grip from my ears."

Stationed at the rear quadrant, Kayra monitored the painful contractions manifesting across Len's facial features and felt compelled to intervene. Advancing her boots an inch forward, she requested in a soft cadence, "Sister... please release his ears."

Liana rotated her neck slowly, shifting the vector of her sharp pupils toward Kayra. Registering the concern floating across Kayra's face, she released a measured breath and articulated, "Fine..."

She abruptly relaxed the mechanical tension within her fingers and withdrew both arms toward her rear. The absolute microsecond the physical constraint vanished, Len immediately enveloped both of his reddened ears under his palms, gently massaging the sensitive cartilage to moderate the sensation.

Kayra shifted her boots slightly closer, locking her inquisitive gaze onto Len's face as she inquired, "Was Brother occupying the same coordinates alongside you as well?"

Len ceased massaging his ears, aligning his golden pupils directly onto Kayra as he shook his head in a flat tone, "No, he was not with me. Ever since my eyelids disengaged, I have been occupying this sector entirely alone."

Liana anchored both of her palms against her waist line, scrutinizing Len from head to toe with a suspicious gaze. Elevating a single eyebrow fractionally, she inquired, "By the way, what precise objective were you executing while standing atop that elevated mound of debris?"

Kayra made zero attempt to suppress her curiosity either. Elevating her chin slightly, she duplicated the inquiry, "Indeed, what were you monitoring so intensely from that elevated coordinate for such an extended duration?"

Len delivered zero immediate vocal response to their inquiries. Stabilizing the soles of his boots against the slope of pulverized rubble, he initiated forward movement.

Having already descended a fraction from his previous apex, he continued his vertical descent, crushing fine fragments of brick and concrete beneath his footwear as he translated his frame toward the level ground. His golden pupils remained anchored onto the downward trajectory of the terrain during his descent.

The absolute microsecond both of his boots stabilized onto the flat ground, he inserted his hands into his pockets, delivering a calm and direct response:

"I was merely standing up there monitoring the conflict involving those vampires that was executing across a short distance amidst the damaged structures."

Len shifted his hands deeper into his pockets, inquiring in a flat cadence, "By the way, where is Eric positioned? He was occupying the coordinates right beside you two... how could my system possibly calculate his whereabouts?"

Kayra rotated the alignment of her boots toward Len, introducing a subtle layer of grievance into her gaze as she articulated, "The absolute microsecond our vision disengaged, neither of you were present at that location."

Pivoting slightly on his heels, Len delivered a subtle tilt of his chin, dismissing the topic with a nonchalant tone, "Disregard it... regardless, he does not constitute a fragile child who would lose his trajectory. He possesses full capacity to manage his own vitals."

Zero lines of anxiety or agitation manifested across Liana's countenance regarding Eric's absence. Her steady, controlled pupils remained locked onto Len—she recognized with absolute clarity that Len's calculation was entirely pragmatic and accurate.

However, the contracting facial features across Kayra's frame projected an entirely distinct reality. Her narrowed eyebrows, fractionally parted lips, and suspended respiration explicitly validated that a severe wave of internal worry was executing within her system.

Advancing his strides, Len shifted the vector of his pupils toward the rear quadrant. His profound golden gaze registered the explicit anxiety written across Kayra's facial contours with absolute precision.

Executing a brief pause, he re-aligned his pupils strictly toward the direct pathway ahead, continuing his forward translation down the terminal slope of the rubble with measured steps. Continuing his motion, he articulated in a calm, yet decisive frequency:

"Very well... we shall search for his coordinates within that forest."

As Len advanced, both Liana and Kayra accelerated the pace of their boots, tracking directly behind his trajectory.

Kayra's facial contours no longer projected concern solely regarding Eric's absence—the restlessness within her pupils, the tight contraction of her lips, and her eyes repeatedly scanning the drafts explicitly betrayed that an alternate, deeper fear had established a stronghold within her system.

Liana briefly scrutinized Kayra's contracted countenance through a side-long gaze as they moved, yet maintained absolute silence without releasing a single vocal token.

Advancing with calibrated strides, the trio arrived precisely at the corner where Liana and Kayra had traversed just moments prior. This was the exact coordinate where the lifeless frame of a vampire hunter sat collapsed upon the concrete floor—his thoracic respiration completely terminated.

However, during this instance, zero physical frame occupied that barren surface. Nothing remained upon the floor save for dispersed dust traces—as though his allied hunter units had executed an evacuation of the corpse, or the entity had vanished into thin air like a sudden gust of wind, leaving zero physical evidence behind.

Len encountered zero physical obstruction along his path, yet his sharp golden pupils continuously registered every subtle shifting expression across the face of Kayra, who was traversing directly adjacent to him, matching his stride. Liana maintained a slightly rearward position within their formation—positioned merely a few paces behind their coordinates.

Len moderated the velocity of his steps while monitoring Kayra's features. His solemn vocal frequency sheared through the stillness:

"What alternate cognition are you occupied with, Kayra?"

Kayra rotated her neck abruptly, yet before she could stabilize her composure, Len sustained his locked gaze upon her face, delivering a sharp yet quiet inquiry:

"Beside Eric's situation... is an alternate worry troubling your system as well?"
