She grumbled as she walked out of the cafeteria, her mood completely ruined after what should have been a freeing moment.
Even now, she could still remember her rivals face, her expression, so cold and emotionless. Her gaze was cold and hard, she looked at her as if she was insignificant.
A mere ant!
HOW DARE SHE!
HOW DARE SHE GAZE UPON HER LIKE THAT!
SHE HAD NO RIGHT! ESPECIALLY AFTER WHAT SHE SAID AFTER THE ARTEMIS STAKES!
How could she all but say that everyone she faces, everyone who put in so much effort were nothing! How could she say such cruel things with no care!?!?!?
In her mind, AND IN EVERYONE ELSES!!!, she had no right to say such insensitive things!
Did she have any idea how much effort everyone put to be able to even enter the academy?
Did she have any idea of how many sleepless nights they have all endured to even have a trainer look at them?
NO!
SHE DIDN'T!
For how could she know how it felt when the very first day she came to tracen somebody already decided to train her, to make her part of a team, a team filled with legends! A team that had her and many others idols!
And the very first thing she says after winning a graded stakes?
Now with all those perks, legends and the like helping her train, you'd think she'd be humble…
But no.
She wasn't to lack such a sense of empathy as to outright state that nobody but two could match her… that all but two could even hope to give her a challenge…
…it was almost as if that she viewed herself as a demon lord who stood above everyone else.
Fully immersed in the belief that any and every race she entered would all be but guaranteed to be her victory.
It was because of this, that she hated her, she hated Hope for Tomorrow, especially after her actions in the cafeteria.
To ignore her challenge the way she did, to brush her off as nothing but an ant!
That, enforced her belief in Hope for Tomorrows character and beliefs.
A girl who believes themselves above all others through the simple fact that she has a trainer and is a part of a team.
It disgusted her.
It made her sick to her stomach.
For somebody like that to be so strong.
She had trouble believing that she could even win against such a foe.
But it didn't matter, she had to race, if only to topple the demon lord from their throne and if she could wipe that smug look off that girls face then all the better.
…
After walking for about ten minutes she finally reached her trainers office, she was rather lucky to have one.
As she opened the door she saw her trainer face down in some documents mumbling about some impossibilities or something, however after hearing the door open he looked up and looked directly at her face.
"What did you do," he said his voice tired and almost disinterested.
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean "What do you mean?", I mean what did you do when you went to the cafeteria, you're frowning like mad!"
"Oh, well…" she said her gaze shifting to the corner of the room, "I… I may or may not have issued a formal challenge against another uma who is participating in my next race."
"…" He said nothing and simply looked at her for a moment before sighing dramatically, "I see, I'm glad it's only that, if you wouldn't mind my asking who was it you challenged, I mean, as long as it's not the Artemis stakes winner you should be fi—"
"It was the Artemis stakes winner…"
"…"
"…"
He said nothing for a moment and simply looked at her, his gaze shocked and confused.
"I'm sorry, can you say that again? Who did you challenge, and PLEASE tell me it wasn't Hope for Tomorrow."
"It was Hope for Tomorrow."
"Reve… why?"
"I couldn't simply stand for what she said!"
He looked at her his gaze softening for a moment, before hardening once more, "You couldn't stand what she said at the interview, I will admit it was wildly insensitive and needlessly cruel but that doesn't change the fact that I told you not to take what she said to heart!"
"Yeah, well, I did, I'm sorry, but I couldn't simply stand for what she said, do you have any idea how many girls she insulted with that? Do you have any idea how it feels to be told that you can't match somebody simply because they won two races! Honestly!"
"That still doesn't change the fact that knowing you, you called her out in public didn't you."
"I can't deny the fact that I may or may not have done that."
He looked at her admittedly guilty face, sighed and spoke, "So you did."
"Yes, I did."
"Well, not much I can say anymore, knowing your thick headed personality you're going to ignore what I have to say anyway, not much to do but make sure you win. We have what? A month and a half left to get you both race ready and have your G1 outfit ready. So, have you eaten if yes, let's get to training, if no, go eat."

An
Much shorter chapter this time compared to the last two, can't deny that, but I have an idea for what I want to do with the hanshin juvenile g1, if you haven't yet guessed it, I don't blame you, but I'm planning to have it be similar to a stretch of chapters in 'Why are you looking at me like that?' (Dream Weaver's story) in which the main character took a back step for two chapters or maybe more so that we the audience could see what it was like racing against dreamie.
So I'm planning to have it show up here as well, will it be even half as good?
Hopefully, I don't know, but the point of the matter is that I have been portraying Hope from an internal perspective and once in a while an external perspective from people close to her ie Orfevre, Gold Ship and that one little time where I had the three original winners of the legs of the triple tiara throw in their two pieces.
But those were never rivals or people competing with hope, until now!
So yeah, I'm going to try and expand on the character of Reve before her race with Hope, and I'm going to hope to god that I don't have to come up with a name for her trainer (i have no idea).
Either way, I'll see you all next time
