(William)
I couldn't sleep all evening because of both the heat and the fear. Finally, towards dawn, at sunrise, I succumbed to fatigue and fell asleep on the sofa in the living room.
And as if the fear I experienced last night wasn't enough, every time I looked out the window I saw those two transformed wolves.
I thought they could smell me when I was in heat, but since I was on my medication, they could only smell me from a certain distance. Still, the way they were looking at me and constantly wandering around my house was more than enough to scare me.
Every few minutes I opened the curtain and looked out. As the moonlight filtered through the trees, the wolves' large bodies became more visible. Sometimes they stood completely still, sometimes they walked in slow circles around the house. I didn't know what they were thinking, but I could feel their eyes on me. It was like they were patiently waiting for me to come out.
Even that thought made the muscles in my shoulders tense.
Being with the wolves while they were transforming was much worse. Then they became more wild and aggressive. That's why even the thought of those wolves entering my house terrified me.
As the sun began to rise at the end of the morning, I checked the window once more. While the bird sounds increased, the wolf sounds stopped completely.
After taking a deep, relieved breath, I went to the bathroom and splashed cold water on my face.
All I wanted was to clear my mind for a bit. Today was a holiday and the rutting night was over. I decided to go for a morning run, which I've been doing since I arrived here to calm down. I had to do some shopping anyway.
After putting on my sports clothes and shoes, I went out.
I felt a little better when the fresh air hit my face. When one stays locked inside the house for hours, one forgets about the world outside. However, everything seemed normal outside.
The birds were singing, the trees were swaying in the gentle wind, and the sun was slowly rising. The fear I experienced last nightIt seemed unreal next to this serene landscape. Still, the uneasiness inside me had not completely disappeared.
The weather was nice. Even though it was early, it was hot and a light, warm wind was blowing.
I was listening to bird sounds while walking. There were people around, returning home, walking in worn-out clothes, or sleeping under the trees near the forest. Looks like last night wasn't very good for anyone.
As I was walking, I came across that house further into the forest. I passed here every morning. Before, I would just look and pass by, but one day Eric told me that this was Fenrir's house.
I looked around the house.
My uncle always said that he was a good hunter and that the best quality meat came from him. I could make a meaty meal tonight.
While I was examining the area, the wolves' territorial markings immediately caught my attention. Wolves often left tracks on their territory; Claw marks, teeth marks or blood...
There were deep claw slits in nearby trees. It was as if "Come near, you die" was written on the trees, rather than "My territory".
I took a deep breath.
My uncle's and Eric's words constantly came to my mind.
"Fenrir is actually a good guy."
"There's no need to be afraid."
Finally I rang the doorbell.
A short chime was heard. There was silence for a while, then the door opened.
Fenrir was in front of me.
He was wearing a white robe. The robe was a little loose, showing off her collarbones. His strong physique attracted attention at first glance.
I was speechless for a moment.
Actually, I was thinking about what to say when I left the house. I repeated this to myself along the way. But as soon as the door opened, all my thoughts disappeared.
All the sentences in my mind were lost in the face of Fenrir's harsh facial features, his messy hair that looked like he had just woken up, and his calm gaze.
Finally, Fenrir raised his eyebrow slightly; "Did something happen?"
I shook my head; "W-well... I was going to ask something. So I... you..."
Fenrir sighed at my forgiveness; "Do you want to come in? I prepared breakfast.. Maybe you'll remember what to say."
I couldn't even form a proper sentence to respond to Fenrir's offer. I could only nod.
A few minutes later I found myself sitting at the table in her kitchen.
While Fenrir was preparing coffee for me, I was wondering how I got here. Actually, I went for a morning walk. Then suddenly I found myself knocking on his door.
I didn't know if there was a logical explanation for this situation.
When Fenrir returned to the kitchen he had changed. He was wearing a black T-shirt and comfortable shorts. Although this relieved me a little, his clothes could not completely hide his strong physique.
When he placed the coffee in front of me, the hot smell rising from the cup reached my nose.
I took a deep breath.
I had to pull myself together; "Well..." I finally said. "My uncle told me that he was very good at hunting and meat. That's why I came."
Fenrir nodded.
"I understand. So, when you saw that the shop was closed, you decided to come to me."
I just nodded.
In fact, it had little to do with what he said. I came here completely on the spur of the moment.
Fenrir took a sip of his coffee; "I didn't go hunting today because it was a holiday. But after breakfast, there is leftover meat from the deer and rabbit I hunted yesterday in the freezer. I can give it to you if you want."
I asked with surprise and some hope. "Really?" Fenrir nodded; "Sure." I felt the tension in my shoulders ease a little more.
We started having breakfast.
There was salad, scrambled eggs and fresh bread on the table. It was a simple but nice breakfast.
The inside of the house was much more organized than I expected.
Considering that Fenrir lived alone, I was struck by how clean everything was. There were no unnecessary items on the wooden table. Everything in the kitchen was in its place.
The morning light filtering through the windows added a warm atmosphere to the room.
The silence felt strange at times, but it wasn't uncomfortable.
Fenrir wasn't a talkative person, but sitting next to him wasn't as difficult as I expected. After breakfast was finished, he stood up and said, "Come." I followed him to the back of the house. We entered a large storage room.
There were three large coolers in the room. Fenrir opened one of them. There were neatly packaged meats inside.
I looked around curiously: "If you hunt all the time and everything is fresh, why are there three coolers?"
Fenrir pointed to the other two; "I'm not running it right now. It's summer." He paused for a moment; "Hunting is much more difficult in winter. The number of animals decreases and it takes longer to find prey. That's why I hunt as much as possible in the autumn. Then I freeze it and continue selling it throughout the winter." It made sense.
I've never thought about this much. Fenrir selected a few packages and handed them to me. I thanked him and went to my pocket, but he did not give me the opportunity to take out money. "There is no need."
I looked at him in surprise: "But..."
He interrupted me "No buts, I'm on vacation right now. This is out of business." He shrugged. "Think of it as neighborly assistance."
I smiled sheepishly; "Thank you." Fenrir nodded; "You can come to dinner whenever you want."
There was a brief silence as these words came out of my mouth. Fenrir looked at me. Then he nodded slightly; "Maybe."
For some reason, I liked this answer. He accompanied me to the door. Just as he was about to leave, he said as if something had occurred to him: "If you're going to cook, don't just use rabbit meat."
I turned to him. "Why?" Fenrir added, "You'll get protein poisoning." My eyes widened; "Really?"
"Yes." The serious expression on his face showed that he was not joking; "Thank you for the warning, Fenrir, good evening." I waved and walked away.
Along the way, I noticed that most of the tension inside me disappeared.
The fear I felt when leaving the house in the morning was now replaced by calmer thoughts.
I felt relieved when I got home. After leaving the meat to thaw in the kitchen, I took a quick shower.
The hot water relieved some of the fatigue in my muscles.
After getting out of the shower, I stood in the kitchen and thought about what I could do.
Finally I made my decision. Stew.i.
I could both use the meat and prepare enough food for a few days.
But while checking the ingredients, I noticed something important missing.
Spices. I took a deep breath.
I would have to go out again.
I left the house again. The streets were now completely alive. The silence of the morning gave way to daily activity. Some people were going to work, some were cleaning in front of their shops, and some were returning from shopping with bags in their hands.
I loved this state of the town. It wasn't crowded, but it didn't let you feel alone either.
I walked slowly towards the spice shop. I already had a plan for dinner in my mind.
While the meat was thawing, I would prepare the vegetables, then wait for the stew to slowly cook. Even this thought was enough to cheer me up.
When I finally reached the front of the store, the smile on my face disappeared. I stared blankly at the sign hung on the door. It was closed.
I checked once again. Then I looked again, but the result did not change.
"No, it can't be!" I was getting ready to turn back in disappointment when someone tapped me on the shoulder. Startled, I turned around. Leon was looking at me with his usual relaxed smile on his face; "What happened? You look lost."
My shoulders slumped; "I was going to make stew for dinner, but the spice shop is closed."Leon looked at me for a few seconds, then laughed; "Is that the whole problem?"
I frowned; "It seems like a big problem to me."Leon" smiled; "Look at what you're worried about." He patted me on the shoulder; "Come with me."
I blinked in surprise; "To where?" Leon said while walking. "To my mother."
I was surprised. "To your mother's place? Why?" Leon shook his head; "You can't find a better one in the whole town when it comes to spices. He already knows the owner of this shop."
I nodded with excitement and we started walking together. As he headed towards the center of town, Leon greeted a few people he knew along the way.
People responded to him with the same sincerity. Apparently Leon was quite popular in the town..After a while, we arrived in front of the patisserie where he worked. The ground floor was a shop, and the upper floor was the house where his family lived. Even from the front of the building, the smell of fresh bread and desserts could be heard. This smell was enough to make a person hungry.
Leon opened the door; "Come." I followed him inside. As we went up the wooden stairs, the hot smells coming from the oven below were getting more intense. When we reached the top floor, Leon knocked on the door.
A few seconds later the door opened. A short, plump and smiling woman stood in front of me. The warm smile on his face made you feel comfortable at first glance.
The woman's eyes shifted first to her son, then to me; "There's my little yellow bird." Leon sighed; "Mom..."
The woman ignored him completely; "And who is this handsome young man?" I smiled and extended my hand; "I'm William, I just moved to town."
The woman's face brightened even more. He held my hand with both hands; "Oh, so it's you." I looked at it in surprise; "Do you know me?"
He laughed: "Of course. When a new person comes to this town, everyone finds out. It's not a very big town."
Then he squeezed my hand gently; "And you look really kind." The woman's warm attitude surprised me. Many people had been nice to me since I moved here, but I still wasn't used to how friendly people were. He acted as if he were talking to a family member he had known for a long time. This thought created a pleasant warmth inside me.
Leon cleared his throat; "Mother." The woman turned and looked at her son; "What happened?"Leon added "Spices."
The woman clapped her hands; "Ah!"
Leon pointed at me; "William was going to make stew, but Mr. Porter's shop is closed."
The woman headed inside without thinking; "Then you've come to the right place." Leon and I followed him.
We followed him with Leon. The kitchen was quite large. There were dried herbs, small sachets and glass jars on the counters. As soon as I entered, the smell of different spices filled my nose. Thyme, rosemary,The scents of e, black pepper and many other plants whose names I did not know were mixed together.
The woman opened one of the kitchen cabinets. My eyes widened in surprise. Dozens of jars were lined up inside. Large, small, round and tall jars filled the shelves.
The woman smiled; "I like making spices. Sometimes it is troublesome, but it is not boring at all." After taking a jar in her hand, she opened the cabinet completely; "You can have as much as you want."
I looked at him in surprise; "Really?" The woman nodded; "Certainly."
I felt like a little kid as I approached the jars. I wanted to open the lid of each one and smell it. I ended up buying a few of the smallest jars.
When I opened the lid, the scent of rosemary immediately filled my nose. It was much stronger than other spices.
Leon laughed behind me; "Be careful." I looked at him; "From where?" Leon grinned; "My mother doesn't like using measurements."
The woman immediately objected; "Don't be ridiculous."Leon laughed; "Last month, my father had to drink water with every meal for a week."
The woman glared at her son; "You're exaggerating." I laughed involuntarily. It was fun to watch the two of them talk. It was obvious that they were used to each other.
Finally I put the lids on the jars; "Thank you very much." The woman waved her hand; "Not to mention."
Then he looked at me carefully; "Welcome back to our town." I smiled; "Thank you."
The woman thought for a few seconds, then added; "I can make you tea or coffee if you want."
The offer was very attractive, but I had to return home. The meat was still thawing and needed to be prepared.
I nodded politely; "I'd love to, but I have to go home." The woman sighed slightly; "Okay, but you'll come back later."
He waved his finger at me; "It doesn't matter if it's tea, coffee or food." My smile widened; "Promise."
This answer seemed to please him very much. A few minutes later, Leon and I left the house. I turned to him as I walked down the stairs; "Your mom is really sweet."
Leon laughed lightly; "Yes it is."When we went out, the sun was a little higher. The streets were more crowded than in the morning.
Leon put his hands in his pockets; "He loves everyone in town."
I nodded. It wasn't hard to understand.
When we came to the corner of the street I stopped; "I must go now. Thank you again."
Leon shrugged; "You're welcome."
Then an amused expression appeared on his face; "But be really careful."
I showed the jars in my hand; "Is it because of the spices?"Leon nodded. "Exactly."
He shook his head; "The spices my mother makes are much stronger than normal spices." I laughed; "I'll keep it in mind."
After waving to each other, I started walking home. The light scents coming from the jars in my hand were reaching my nose.
As I thought about the meal I would prepare for the evening, I felt a pleasant excitement.
Today had been a really nice day. I finally got home. It was still close to noon, but when I checked the ingredients, there wasn't much I could do. The meat had to be completely thawed.
I placed the jars on the kitchen counter and examined them briefly. While I was upset a few hours ago thinking that I wouldn't be able to find spices, now a small treasure was standing in front of me.
I smiled involuntarily.
Finally, I went to the living room and lay down on the couch. I took a deep breath as the soft cushions soothed my back. Considering what I had experienced in the last two days, I felt more tired than I expected.
Staring at the ceiling, I started thinking about what I could do in my free time. I could read a book, watch some TV, or research other recipes for dinner.
But my thoughts started to get heavier.
My eyelids were slowly closing.
I could hardly sleep last night. The comfort of the couch and the silence of the house finally won.
Sleep slowly mixed in with my thoughts and I fell asleep without even realizing it.
...
I woke up out of breath, as if I had just come out of water. My chest was rising and falling rapidly. For a few seconds I couldn't even tell where I was. The silence of the roomThe light breeze coming from the open window and the softness of the seat slowly brought me back to reality.
I tried to breathe deeply, but my heart was still beating like crazy. My dreams were usually the same.
Fraun... It was always there. There was always pain. There was always fear. But what pressed me most was the desire to connect.
But this time was different. This time, the two wolves I saw last night were also in my dream.
At first I was running away. I was running non-stop through the forest. The branches were scratching my face, the stones under my feet were hurting me, but I couldn't stop.
Because they were coming after me. I could hear them howling. I could feel their breath.
Then they were jumping on me.
They were tearing my clothes, pressing me to the ground and not letting me escape. And they were marking me in the same way.
I didn't even want to think about the rest of the dream. I took my face in my hands and closed my eyes for a few seconds.
"It's just a dream..." He had to say this to himself. Because otherwise, the effects of what I saw would stay on me for a long time.
After a while, I was finally able to calm down. When I checked the time, I realized that I had only slept for an hour.
I sighed and stood up. There was no point in trying to sleep again.
I checked the ingredients in the kitchen. The meat was finally thawed. This was at least good news. I decided to prepare a meal.
Luckily we were allowed to use leftover vegetables from the market. There were enough carrots, potatoes and onions in the fridge.
I arranged all the ingredients on the counter. As I took the knife in my hand, I started to feel calmer.
Cooking has always been relaxing. I chopped the vegetables and prepared the meat.
Then I took out the spices I got from Leon's mother.
As soon as I opened the lid of one of the jars, a strong odor emanated.
At that moment I understood why Leon had warned me. Even though I used a small amount, its smell spread throughout the kitchen.
I smiled and added it to the meal. After putting the large pot on the stove, the stew began to cook slowly.
After a while, the kitchen smelled wonderful.Fresh meat, vegetables and spices mixed together.
An involuntary smile appeared on my face as I inhaled the smell. "It wasn't bad." I opened the lid of the pot and stirred.
It actually looked pretty good. While I was waiting for the food to cook, I tidied up the kitchen. Then I went back to the pot.
After about an hour, the stew was completely ready. I took a spoon and tasted it. My eyes widened slightly. It was really good.
Maybe it was because of Leon's mother's spices, Or Fenrir's fresh meat, Or Jasmine's vegetables.
After thinking about it for a while, I decided it would be a good idea to have done more.
After all, there were people who helped me today.
My uncle, Leon, Leon's mother and Fenrir. A slight warmth felt inside me. I thought about the first days I came to town. I felt like a stranger, but now the situation was starting to change a little.
Maybe I could really get used to this place. I liked the idea. I took out a few storage containers from the closet.
I started filling it carefully. One for my uncle. One for Leon and his family. One for Fenrir.
I saved one to keep at home. And yet, there was one plate left over. After closing the lids, I looked at the containers lined up side by side on the counter.
For a moment, I felt proud. For the first time in a long time, something seemed to be going right.
I decided to go to my uncle first. His house was the furthest away. I took my car keys, put the container I prepared on the side seat and left the house.
The sun was slowly starting to set. The roads were calmer than during the day. While I was driving, the wind coming through the window was moving my hair slightly.
I reached my uncle's house after about twenty minutes. I got out of the car and walked towards the door.
I could feel that the bowl in my hand was still warm.
I knocked on the door. A few noises came from inside. I heard something falling. Then hurried footsteps...
I raised my eyebrows, and finally the door opened. My uncle was standing in front of me. His hair was messyHis shirt was buttoned incorrectly, and although he tried to hide the bite marks on his neck, he wasn't very successful.
I watched him silently for a few seconds, then the corners of my lips turned up: "Uncle..."
Arthur cleared his throat; "William! How are you?" I had a hard time not laughing. The marks on his neck, his messy hair, and the panicked expression on his face were more than enough for me to understand what was going on.
I bowed my head with an innocent expression; "I just wanted to see how you were... Is George in there?" Arthur's face suddenly tightened.
Just then, a familiar voice was heard from inside: "That's right." A second later, Uncle Arthur grabbed the pillow next to the door and threw it towards the voice inside; "Shut up!"
A sound of laughter came from inside. I just sighed. Apparently, last night's rut was quite active for both of them.
I extended the container in my hand; "Actually, I came to see if you were okay. I also made some stew."
Arthur's expression softened. He carefully took the container; "Oh, thank you."
Then he paused as if he was going to say something; "Well, I..." I immediately nodded; "No need. I'll just wander around a little more anyway."
George's voice was heard from behind me; "The boy is more thoughtful than you, Arthur." Uncle Arthur shouted with anger and shame; "Shut up, George!"
This time I couldn't stop laughing. I waved as my Uncle Arthur's face turned red. "Have fun, both of you."
My uncle blushed and shouted after me: "William!" I laughed and walked towards my car.
Just before the door closed, I heard George laugh again. I shook my head as I got in the car.
I started the engine and set off again. My next stop was Leon's house.
The sun was a little lower when I reached the center of town. There were still people on the streets, but not as crowded as in the morning.
I stopped in front of the patisserie and got out of the car. After taking the bowl in my hand, I went to the door and rang the bell.
I didn't have to wait long. The door opened and Leon appeared in front of me. He had the usual smile on his face..
When he saw me, he raised his eyebrows; "Hello again." He looked at the container in my hand. Then he sniffed the air, his eyes widened slightly; "What is that wonderful smell?"
I smiled; "I made stew. I handed the bowl to him; "You helped me today. So is your mother. That's why I wanted to bring it to you."
Leon looked at me for a few seconds. Then he got a really happy expression on his face; "That's very thoughtful." He took the container and opened the lid slightly.
The scent rising instantly reached both of our noses. The smile on Leon's face grew a little bigger; "Okay." He closed the container. "Now when my mother sees this, she will decide to adopt you."
I laughed involuntarily; "Is it that bad?" Leon laughed; "It's worse." He shook his head; "He already loves you."
A woman's voice was heard from inside; "Leon! Who came?" Leon rolled his eyes; "Look, it's started." Then he called in; "William."
An excited voice came from inside: "William?" A second later, rapid footsteps were heard.
I retreated in panic. Leon just laughed. The door opened completely and his mother appeared. The woman looked first at me and then at the container I no longer had in my hand; "Did you bring food?"
I nodded; "I made stew."
The woman's face instantly lit up.
"How sweet of you." Leon sighed.
I had a hard time not laughing. He took the bowl from his son's hand; "I'm going to taste this right now."
Leon sighed, "Mom. You're scaring the guest."
The woman looked at me; "Are you afraid?" I shook my head; "No, it's okay." The woman looked at her son triumphantly.
Leon just shrugged with a resigned expression. After chatting for a few more minutes, I decided to leave.
Leon came with me to the door. He looked at me as I went down the stairs; "Are you sure you don't want to stay for dinner?"
I nodded; "I'll stop by one more place." Leon raised his eyebrow. "Fenrir?"
My steps faltered slightly. Leon had a mischievous grin on his face, but it was a little different than before, as if he was hiding something.
I frowned; "Why is everyone guessing this?" Leon laughed; "Because you used meat in your food."
I looked at him suspiciously.I could feel he was lying. But I couldn't prove it. Leon waved; When he said "Good luck" I got curious: "About what?"
His smile grew bigger; "Nothing." I didn't like this answer at all. I shook my head and returned to my car.
After a while I arrived at my house. After leaving the car in the garage, I took the last container.
This time I had to walk.
Fenrir's house was in the forest and the path was too narrow for a cart.
I took a deep breath.
Then I started walking towards the forest with the stew pot in my hand.
As I stepped onto the path, the sounds of the town slowly faded behind me. They were replaced by bird sounds, the rustle of leaves and the howl of the wind passing through the trees.
I continued walking, carefully holding the container in my hand.
The sun was starting to approach the horizon. The orange lights filtering through the trees added a different atmosphere to the forest.
We stopped for a moment and looked around. It was quiet here, as always. Still, walking deep into the forest, one felt a little small. The trees were very high.
Their bodies were so thick that only a few people could surround some of them.
I took a deep breath and continued walking. As I approached Fenrir's house, I started to hear a rhythmic sound.
After each blow, there was a short silence, then the same sound echoed again. Apparently someone was chopping wood
Finally, I emerged from the trees and reached the clearing where the house was located.
My eyes widened slightly.
This place impressed me every time I saw it.
Directly opposite the house was a large clearing from which much of the valley below could be seen. The golden rays of sunset spread over the distant hills.
The view was truly impressive.
Then a moving shadow caught my attention.
Fenrir was chopping wood in front of the house. With each blow of the ax, thick logs were split in two, and pieces of wood were scattered around.
His movements were extremely comfortable.
It was like he was doing it without thinking.
His muscles became evident with every movement, his shoulders and arms tensed as he swung the axeThe beads of sweat on his forehead glistened faintly in the sunset light.
I tried to look away. I failed. Just then Fenrir noticed me.
He put the ax down and wiped his forehead with the handkerchief lying next to him; "Hello?" His voice brought me out of my thoughts.
I quickly approached him. I showed him the bowl in my hand; "I made a stew." Fenrir's gaze shifted to the container; "I wanted to bring it to you, too."
There was silence for a few seconds. Then Fenrir sighed. "You didn't have to come all this way."
His tone was calm as always, but not harsh. I shrugged; "I came because I wanted to."
Fenrir looked at me. He kept his gaze on me for a few seconds, then took the container. "Thank you."
A small smile formed on my lips; "Anyway, you helped me in the morning."
Fenrir shook his head slightly. Then he looked at the sky. The sun was now very low.
"It's getting dark." He turned to me again. "You'd better get home."
I raised my eyebrows; "Why?" Fenrir was silent for a few seconds. Then he gave a short answer;
"The sun is setting, the full moon is not over yet." The feeling of comfort in me diminished a little.
Fenrir laid aside his axe; "The rut isn't completely over."
His gaze flickered over me briefly; "You might lose control."
This thought was unpleasant. I shook my head; "You're right." I was about to turn when Fenrir spoke; "Wait."
I looked at him in surprise. Fenrir entered the house. When the door closed, I stood where I was. The wind was moving my hair slightly.
A few minutes later, the door opened again. Fenrir came out with a metal container in his hand. He handed the closed container to me.
I took it with surprise. When I looked inside, my eyes widened slightly. There was meat on skewers. It was freshly cooked.
The smell of spices and smoke still wafted over them. Fenrir looked away and said; "I made it over a wood fire." Then there was a short pause; "It's not as good as your food."
I laughed involuntarily; "I can't decide until I try it." The expression on Fenrir's face changed ever so slightly. Perhaps it was the closest thing he could get to a smile. I held the container carefullym; "Thank you." He nodded.
There was a short silence between us. The strange thing was that this silence was not uncomfortable. Fenrir was not a person who talked much. But when I was standing next to him, I did not feel the need to talk constantly.
Finally, Fenrir looked at the sky again. This time his voice was a little harsher: "Go." I was surprised for a moment. Fenrir turned his head to the trees in the distance; "Right away."
This time I didn't object. I nodded; "Okay." I waved and stepped back. Fenrir responded with a curt gesture.
When I reached the path, I turned and took one last look. Fenrir was still standing in front of his house.
The sunset lights were hitting the landscape behind him, painting everything around him in gold.
For some reason, this image was engraved in my mind. I shook my head. Then I continued walking home.
When I emerged from the forest, it was noticeably darker. I felt relieved the moment I opened my door and walked in. It was nice to be safe, especially since you know from the last few nights.
After locking the door, I took a deep breath. I felt the tension in my shoulders ease a little.
I had been constantly on guard for the last few days without even realizing it. I checked the windows. I checked the doors. Then I went to the kitchen.
I left the container Fenrir gave me on the counter and opened the lid. The rising smell instantly reached my nose.
Leon's mother's spices were strong, but the scent of the meat Fenrir made was just as impressive.
The meat was lightly fried from the outside. The unique smell left by the wood fire had permeated the meat.
I broke off a piece and tasted it. My eyes widened involuntarily. It was really beautiful. Maybe it was because he was always dealing with meat. Maybe it was the experience he gained over the years.
But the result was definitely successful. I also prepared a plate of my own stew.
I sat at the table and started eating my food silently. It was quiet inside the house.
The only sound coming from outside was the sound of the wind and the occasional distant howl.
These sounds still made me a little uneasy, but they didn't scare me as much as they did last nightMaybe my attention had shifted elsewhere thanks to what I experienced throughout the day. After I finished my meal, I tidied up the kitchen.
I washed the plates. I placed the remaining food in the fridge. Then I took my medicine. I was trying to never miss this part again.
Especially during estrus periods. After drinking a glass of water, I walked around the house for the last time.
The doors were locked. The windows were closed. Everything was as it should be. Finally, I went to my bedroom.
As soon as I lay down in bed, I started to feel the tiredness of the day more clearly.
It was a long day. The morning started with the fear of wolves. Then I went to Fenrir's house. I spent time with Leon and his mother. I cooked the food, distributed it, and walked back to Fenrir's house.
When I thought about these, my eyelids became heavy. I pulled the blanket over myself.
Just as I was about to close my eyes, the events of the day started to come to my mind.
First, the warm attitude of Leon's mother came to my mind. Then, the funny and happy looks of Arthur and George... I smiled involuntarily.
It would not be easy to forget those images. After a while, my thoughts shifted to another direction.
Fenrir... He came to my mind the moment he opened the door in the morning. His messy and wet hair. His calm gaze. Her collarbones visible through her bathrobe...
I buried my face in the pillow; "Why do I think that... I'm not gay" I mumbled to myself.
But I couldn't stop my thoughts. The image of him chopping wood in the evening came to my mind.
His movements were extremely comfortable while using the axe. He was chopping down heavy logs as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
He was strong. Quite strong. And although he looked scary, he had never been rude to me until now.
On the contrary, he helped me in the morning. Even though he was a little harsh in the evening, he tried to send me home before dark because he was worried.
The more I thought about these, the more confused I became. Most omegas in the town got excited when they heard his name.
It was impossible not to notice this. Fenrir was strong, handsome, a good hunter and his character was quite gooddi
She could probably be with any omega she wanted. For some reason, this thought created a strange feeling inside me.
I immediately tried to think of other things. I was unsuccessful.
Because this time the view in front of Fenrir's house came to my mind. The sunset, the smell of wood, the wind. And Fenrir standing shirtless in front of his house.
The corners of my lips turned up slightly. Actually, I knew him very little. What I knew about him was just a few short conversations and what people told him.
But despite this, my thoughts kept returning to him.
Maybe it was because he lived alone.
Maybe it was because he didn't act like the other alphas.
Maybe it was because of that calmness in his eyes.
Whatever the reason, I found myself thinking about him more than I did throughout the day.
Just then, a long howl was heard from far away.Fraun...
The voice echoed in my head in the silence of the night.
Fortunately, it stopped after a few seconds. I stared at the ceiling. These sounds reminded me of last night.
And also my dreams... I grimaced. "I've had enough trouble for today."
I pulled the blanket over me a little more. As Fraun's voices slowly faded away, my eyes began to close.
I didn't know what would happen tomorrow. But right now all I wanted was to be able to sleep for a few hours without thinking about anything.
Especially Fenrir. Because after my thoughts today, I didn't like the possibility of seeing him in my dreams.
And Fraun, I knew this very well, and I knew that you wanted to use him to torture me, so I was in no hurry to sleep...
I pulled the blanket over me a little more. He closed his eyes, but sleep still didn't come. Distant howls coming from outside were breaking the silence of the night.
Fraun snorted slightly. I sighed without opening my eyes; "What now?"
Fraun was silent for a few seconds, then a mocking laugh echoed in her mind: "You've been thinking about him all evening."My brows furrowed; "Who?" Fraun laughed again: "Fenrir."
I opened my eyes and looked at the ceiling; "You are talking nonsense." Fenrir continued with a challenging attitude and tone of voice; "Really?"
I frowned; "Yes indeed." Fraun sounded amused.
He chuckled lightly; "You were stunned when you opened the door in the morning." William grimaced. Fraun continued: "You kept staring at him at breakfast."
I objected, "I didn't look."
Fenrir laughed and added, "Didn't you look while chopping wood?" Even though I tried hard, I couldn't stop my face from turning red.
I immediately turned the pillow over and turned to the other side; "Shut up." Fraun laughed for a long time And say;"I am you, William, your wolf, I know your mind."
I closed my eyes tightly. Fraun added; "And I can feel when your heart beats faster." I sighed: "This is so disturbing, it feels wrong to me."
Fraun: "Yes, but it's not a lie, you think and feel, but I am your instinct, your desires and I can feel your self."
I didn't answer for a while. I was moving the curtain slightly as the wind came from behind the window. It was dark inside the room, but as his eyes got used to it, he could make out the silhouettes of the objects.
Finally he sighed; "He...was just nice to me." Fraun's voice was a little calmer this time; "I know."
I raised my eyebrows in surprise when he say;"But that doesn't make it any less dangerous." The expression on my face softened and I felt relief; Fenrir would never harm me."
Fraun was silent for a few seconds. Then he growled slightly; "He's an alpha, and a very strong one, so... I hope you're right."
After Fraun's last words, silence fell in the room. I stared at the ceiling. The moonlight coming from behind the window illuminated a corner of the room, and as the light wind moved the curtain, dancing shadows formed on the wall. I took a deep breath, "And you make a big deal out of everything."
Fraun snorted slightly; "Maybe yes."
He pulled the blanket over me a little more. I was tired. I had been going around all day, cooking, talking to people. Normally, I should have been asleep already, but my mind couldn't stop.
Involuntarily, I started thinking about my day..The fear I experienced in the morning seemed so far away now. I thought about the hours I spent in front of the window. I thought about those two wolves. Even now, when I remember them, a slight chill runs down my shoulders.
Then my thoughts shifted in another direction. Leon's mother came to mind. Remembering the woman's warm smile, the corners of his lips turned up slightly. Many people had helped him since he came to town. My uncle, George, Leon, Jasmine... and now Fenrir. This thought made me pause for a moment.
I sighed and closed my eyes, but it was a mistake. The scene in front of Fenrir's house immediately came to my mind. The golden lights of the sunset, the smell of wood, the steady sound of the axe... Fenrir chopping the logs...
I immediately opened my eyes; "There you go again." Fraun's sarcastic laughter echoed in my mind. I grimaced; "Don't say a word." Fraun sighed. "I didn't say anything."I nodded; "because you don't need to say it."
Fraun laughed again. I rolled my eyes, adjusted the pillow and turned to the other side. For a while, I only listened to the sounds coming from outside. Distant wolf howls were heard less frequently now. The sounds of the insects became much more distinct in the silence of the night. The town was also slowly falling asleep.
I loved this silence. I used to dislike silence because it reminded me that I was alone. But lately this has started to change. Maybe for the first time in a long time I felt truly safe.
With this thought, the tightness in his chest eased a little. Fraun also became quiet.
I closed my eyes again. I didn't open it this time. I didn't know what would happen tomorrow. Maybe it would be an ordinary day, maybe a lot of things would happen to me again. But I could think about it tomorrow.
For now I just wanted to sleep.
As the last howl coming from outside disappeared into the night, my breathing gradually stabilized. My thoughts started to get blurry.Fatigue slowly overtook all my thoughts and I finally started to fall asleep.
