Chapter 79 - Chapter 76: Reopening the Dragonpit

High up on Dragonmont, in The Glutton's cave, Rhaegar placed the heart of fire dragon nest deep inside the cavern.

The Purple Dragon Nest slowly heated up, and the red gem at the bottom of the nest shone brilliantly, continuing to absorb heat.

The unreal high temperature made the air seem illusory.

Rhaegar could endure high temperatures and flames, but not for too long; burning for days and nights was definitely impossible. Humans are not Silicon Bodies, and magical power is ultimately limited right now.

Like the day the little dragons hatched, Rhaegar carried too much of Dragonmont's flame and heat, making it almost unbearable.

However, with fire resistance, even Dragon Battles and Aerial Combat can be invincible; this is also a Treasure for fighting enemies.

Rhaegar opened his palm, and a cluster of colorful sparks lit up, composed of black, blue, and gold, like a bright beacon. The little dragons immediately rushed toward him.

Magic is returning, and we will grow stronger. Rhaegar possesses the Blood of Fire, and the dragon pact will further strengthen the Blood of Fire.

According to the deeds passed down by the Targaryen people, a bond exists between man and dragon, and being close to one's own dragon makes one stronger.

Rhaegar alone, using the Blood and Fire Chain to bond with three dragons, is bound to achieve greater things.

The little dragons are always hungry and love high heat and warmth. When they find that the heart of fire dragon nest has run out of heat, they roar angrily, as if starving.

The heart of fire dragon nest is the only thing inside the dragon king ring that tempts them. Once they find the flames dry up, they are most unwilling to stay in the sealed space.

Living beings symbolize instability. If the little dragons grow any larger, Rhaegar truly fears they might dismantle the ring and burn the precious books.

Although a dragon's body is mainly composed of a neck, tail, and wings, making it much lighter than it appears, they are extremely gluttonous and even more combative.

Rhaegar rarely confines them; most of the time, he brings them to The Glutton's cave. Only when there is absolutely no other way does he restrict them.

"I need to find a good Dragonpit for my little dragons," Rhaegar thought.

The King's Landing Dragonpit has been collapsed for a century and is no longer suitable for Giant Dragons to soar. Rhaegar needs to think of a better way to renovate it, perhaps rebuilding the Dragonpit like a high tower.

Currently, no one understands Dragon-rearing better than I do.

Rhaegar looked at the envelope in his hand and thought of Red Fish, Myles Mollen of Maidenpool from the Riverlands, and Griffin Jon Clinton from the Stormlands.

And there was Sword of the Morning Arthur Dayne. These three were Rhaegar's sworn friends, wings, confidants, and partners.

They regarded Rhaegar as a bright star illuminating the night sky, to the extent that they would shatter their bodies for him.

The friendship between men ultimately transformed into steel, sharp swords, blood, and fire.

They were all Heroes and Warriors. Rhaegar still felt a sense of melancholy hearing these names. My brothers never failed me, yet I harmed others. They would all die for me later.

However, Rhaegar didn't really want to get close to Jon Clinton; his sexual preferences were a bit frightening. There was also the Second Son of House Corbray, a Boy Lover, who was also terrifying. Jon Clinton should be dispersed into the main Army first.

Rhaegar looked at the list provided by King Jaehaerys. It contained many names of the Lords' children, but few children of the Great Lords.

Rhaegar felt it was due to the era: the children of the Lion House, who were closest to the Dragon House, were too young; the heir of the Rose House was too old; the heirs of the Eagle House and Fish House were still babies; the Wolf House generally didn't frequent King's Landing; and the twins of the Spear House rarely separated. The most suitable Attendant, however, would have been Robert of the Deer House, but perhaps he and Rhaegar were naturally incompatible.

The three little dragons flapped around wildly in The Glutton's cave. Rhaegar spread out a thick carpet on the ground for them. The little dragons liked the cave; it was vast, and the temperature was suitable.

The little dragons flew up and then slowly fell. When they hit the ground, they let out angry roars.

The little dragons loved circling and soaring in the cave, rising round after round as if ascending on a whirlwind. They competed with each other, even fighting over who had the best spot on the nest or who was closest to Rhaegar.

Dragons almost never stop growing. They soar through the sky until the fire of their life slowly extinguishes, spending their final days in drowsy confusion, no longer longing for the heavens.

Rhaegar's dragons were constantly hungry. All three dragons were strengthened by the heart of fire, and their size and growth rate were rapid. Dragons would rise again, bringing shock to the world.

The Silver Emperor was the hungriest, largest, and most combative. Tall, strong, fierce, and arrogant. It watched Rhaegar with eyes like molten gold, the man and dragon connected by the pact. Its silver scales shimmered brilliantly, gorgeous and bright. Its Golden Horns and Golden Membrane Wings echoed its silver body; it was born loving conquest.

Rhaegar could sense the Silver Emperor's joy or anger. Being full and flying made it happy, and it was also happy when the other little dragons submitted to it.

Balerion's scales were a beautiful purple, and its eyes were also purple. Rhaegar felt the scales resembled Amethyst; Balerion looked quite unreal. Its horns, wing bones, and spine were dark gold, like shining metal. Balerion was beautiful and noble, but also very irritable. It wanted to challenge the Silver Emperor but was repeatedly defeated.

Balerion seemed like the reincarnation of the Black Dread. It was equally irritable and combative, but unfortunately, the dragons it encountered were all powerful, and its companions were just as volatile. Balerion was furious about losing the leadership position. Its black scales and Inferno Eyes made it look truly formidable. Balerion would also tear at its companions, though it couldn't gain the upper hand.

Rhaegar felt that the dragons howling and wrestling might hurt themselves, but in reality, they seemed more like they were stretching their muscles.

These are the three strongest dragons in the world today. If raised well, their achievements will surely surpass those of the three Demon Dragons who founded the dynasty.

The simple life of a Demon Dragon is eating meat, flying, playing, and fighting each other. When they get tired, they fly onto the nest, drowsy and ready to sleep.

Rhaegar slowly walked out of the cave. Barristan, Master Cesar, and others were already waiting at the entrance.

"Prince, the wind direction is normal, and the personnel have been organized. We can return to King's Landing now." Corlys and the others were waiting at the entrance.

Corlys, the Sycophant, also possessed the bloodline of House Velaryon and was quite skilled in navigation.

Rhaegar nodded, preparing to leave Dragonmont.

Rhaegar took the little dragons and swept through Dragonmont and Dragonstone Castle many times. There really wasn't a single dragon egg, and even Dragon Bones were hard to find.

There were three tasks on Dragonstone: hatching dragons, finding eggs, and recruiting people.

The first and third tasks were completed successfully.

Although Dragonstone is barren, it is the Dynasty's Origin of the Targaryens. The islanders are extremely loyal to the Targaryen Family. Rhaegar recruited a hundred Retainers from Dragonstone and Driftmark and incorporated them into the Eagle Guards.

Currently, Dragonstone indeed lacks dragon eggs or Dragon Bone wealth. It will continue to serve as a Hatching Base later on.

The Fleet left Dragonstone and began sailing toward King's Landing.

In his sight, Rhaegar spotted the bustling city. King's Landing's biggest characteristic was still its Sprawling Growth, making the planning seem chaotic.

But King's Landing grew up wildly like this, under the light of the Monarchy. Mansions, pavilions, barns, brick warehouses, wooden inns, market stalls, taverns, cemeteries, and brothels stood one after another. Ships filed in, and business was booming.

But the most conspicuous structures in King's Landing were the three buildings: the Red Keep, the Great Sept of Baelor, and the Dragonpit, symbolizing Monarchy, Military Power, and The Faith, respectively. Rhaegar heard that Braavos had twenty such great buildings and truly wished to see them.

Rhaegar even saw the ruined Dragonpit on the Hills, its dome collapsed, desolate and dilapidated.

Rhaegar knew the Dragonpit was already a ruin, long abandoned. The Dragonpit was a scene of scorched rubble, the wreckage of a massive collapsed dome, and Bronze Doors sealed for a century.

Rhaegar couldn't let go of the Dragonpit land. "I must reopen the Dragonpit. The Dragonpit can accommodate twenty Knights side-by-side inside; it certainly cannot be wasted."

Rhaegar would not use the Dragonpit to raise dragons, but to station his Army inside.

The Dragonpit is both a suitable natural Barracks, convenient for mobilizing troops, and a strategic reserve for countering internal and external enemies.

The people of Flea Bottom in King's Landing are fickle and cunning, and sometimes even ignorant and violent. They need to be suppressed when necessary.

Rhaegar knew the insane fighting power of the King's Landing populace. They were the ones who stormed the Dragonpit and killed several dragons, though most of them were Young Dragons.
