Morning light filtered through the windows of the Kuoh Academy Student Council room as Sona Sitri adjusted her glasses and reviewed the day's documents. The quiet routine was a welcome relief after recent tensions. She sipped her tea while organizing schedules and reports when the door suddenly burst open.
Tsubaki Shinra entered swiftly, her usual composure cracked by urgency. She held up her phone.
"President, you need to see this. Right now."
Sona accepted the device. A barrage of videos, photos, and news alerts flooded the screen. Clips showed a flaming skeleton riding a scooter through the streets, hellfire trailing behind and scorching the asphalt. Traffic camera footage captured the same figure leaving glowing cracks in the road. Social media was exploding with speculation.
"Burning skeleton on a scooter in Kuoh?!"
"Special effects or real?"
"Ghost Rider spotted in Japan?"
Conspiracy theories multiplied while local news stations reported mysterious road damage and an active police investigation. Maintenance crews had already begun repairing several sections of scorched pavement.
Sona's grip tightened around the phone.
She recognized the rider immediately.
A small sense of panic appeared, followed by a growing headache and deep disappointment. Of all the ways to cause trouble, he had somehow managed to create a city-wide incident using a scooter.
"This is going to be a nightmare," she muttered while rubbing her temples.
After instructing Tsubaki to gather the rest of the Student Council, Sona immediately activated a teleportation circle and headed for the Occult Research Club.
The members of Rias's peerage were already preparing for training when Sona appeared in a flash of magic. Issei was stretching near the sofa while Rias discussed plans for the day with the others.
Without wasting time, Sona walked to the center table and placed her phone down.
"Everyone, watch this. Now."
The video began playing.
A flaming skeleton on a scooter raced through the city streets while burning wheels cracked and scorched the pavement beneath it. Civilians shouted in the background while recording the spectacle with their phones. The rider continued through the city, leaving destruction in his wake before disappearing into the night.
Silence filled the room once the video ended.
Issei's eyes widened immediately.
"Hey, that's the guy from yesterday! The flaming skull riding the scooter!"
Rias stared at the screen.
She recognized the route.
Sona crossed her arms.
"You saw him yesterday."
"Yes."
"And you did nothing."
"...Yes."
Sona's eye twitched.
"Why?"
Rias hesitated.
"I assumed he knew what he was doing."
Sona pinched the bridge of her nose.
"He was riding a flaming scooter through a modern city, Rias. In full view of witnesses. How exactly did that seem under control?"
Rias opened her mouth before closing it again.
She didn't really have an answer.
Sona began pacing around the room while explaining the scale of the problem.
"Videos are spreading across the internet. Human authorities have launched an investigation. Traffic cameras recorded multiple angles, and maintenance crews are already repairing the roads. We're fortunate nobody was injured, but if this continues we'll have a serious exposure problem."
Akeno covered her mouth.
"Ara ara~ A flaming skeleton on a scooter. I have to admit that's rather memorable."
Koneko looked away.
Her shoulders shook slightly.
Saji didn't even try to hide his laughter.
"I'm sorry, but the scooter makes everything funnier."
"Enough."
Sona's voice immediately silenced the room.
While the Student Council discussed damage control, the Occult Research Club debated possible solutions, city workers repaired damaged roads, and countless internet users argued over videos they couldn't explain, the old church remained completely detached from the chaos.
The morning passed peacefully inside the quiet building. Sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows, casting colorful patterns across the floor. Ethan and Asia slept peacefully, completely unaware that half of Kuoh was currently discussing a flaming skeleton and a scooter.
Unfortunately, that peace did not last.
A firm knock echoed through the heavy church doors.
Several more followed.
The persistent sound eventually pulled Ethan from sleep. He opened his eyes slowly and stared at the ceiling for a few moments before sitting up. Nearby, Asia stirred awake as well and rubbed her eyes.
"Someone's at the door?" she asked sleepily.
"Apparently."
The knocking continued.
Neither of them seemed particularly concerned. The church occasionally received visitors, and there was no reason to assume this would be any different.
After getting dressed properly, Ethan and Asia made their way toward the entrance.
The knocking stopped just before they reached the door.
For a brief moment, silence returned.
Then Ethan opened it.
The first thing he saw was Sona Sitri.
The second thing he noticed was that she looked far from happy.
Behind her stood Rias Gremory, Tsubaki, Akeno, Koneko, Saji, and several others. The group was large enough that Ethan immediately wondered what had happened overnight.
Nobody spoke at first.
Both sides simply stared at one another.
Ethan's gaze moved from Sona to Rias before traveling across the rest of the assembled group.
"...Did all of you finally decide to join my harem?" he asked while completely ignoring the male members present.
Akeno immediately looked away to hide her smile.
Saji and Issei looked personally offended.
Tsubaki remained expressionless.
Rias looked caught somewhere between amusement and embarrassment.
Only Sona maintained her stern composure.
"We need to talk."
Ethan glanced at the unusually large gathering.
"About?"
Sona adjusted her glasses.
"About what you did last night."
Ethan stared at her.
"You came all the way here because I decided to take my scooter for a drive?"
That single response triggered several reactions at once.
Akeno failed to suppress her laughter.
Rias closed her eyes and sighed.
Saji looked like he was trying not to laugh as well.
Meanwhile, Sona's headache somehow became worse.
At that moment, Ethan still hadn't realized how much trouble he had accidentally caused. In his defense, compared to the original Ghost Rider, taking a scooter for a drive through the city seemed remarkably normal.
If anyone could have heard his thoughts, they would have disagreed with that assessment.
