Yawning, Ren stretched out.

'I really do need to replace this bed,' he thought as he stared at the futon resting on top of milk crates.

'I should get a part-time job.'

'You told the Hierophant that you will work here on Sunday,' Arsene reminded him.

'Oh crap,' Ren remembered.

'Don't worry, it's Saturday, ho!' Pyro Jack said.

---

The way to school was peaceful. As peaceful as it could be in the midst of the city of Tokyo in the morning.

"It's a little weird to just be going to school again," Ren muttered to Morgana.

"It'll be okay," Morgana said. "We just have to wait."

Sighing, Ren looked around the cramped train car. There was a smiling girl with orange hair wearing a flower hair clip, smiling pleasantly and bobbing her head like she was listening to music. She saw Ren nearby and gave him a smile.

The girl noticed an old woman standing next to Ren. Blinking, she waved to them and said, "Ma'am, if you need a seat, you can take mine!"

"Aww, thank you, dearie," the old woman said with a smile as she began to approach the seat.

However, a salaryman slipped behind the girl and dropped into the seat as fast as he could.

"Umm, sir?"

The man was already snoring.

"I'm sorry, ma'am," the girl said, looking very downcast.

"It's quite alright. My stop is next anyway," the old woman said with a smile. "Thank you for looking out for this old woman."

Ren, who had been silently observing, decided to cut in. "Need me to 'wake him up'?" he asked, staring at the man. Ren had no doubt that he was pretending to sleep to avoid the confrontation.

"Hmm? No, it's okay. Everyone has their problems," the girl said with a smile. "Thank you though!"

"Yes, it's alright, young man. Don't worry. This old woman is still strong!" she said, jokingly flexing her arm.

The orange-haired girl just giggled.

---

Leaving the train, the girl tapped Ren on the shoulder. Slightly jumping in surprise, Ren turned to her.

"I'm sorry!" she said, pressing her hands together over her generous chest, closing one eye while sticking out her tongue. "I shouldn't have touched you like that! I don't really like being surprised like that either!"

"Uh... it's okay, I guess," Ren said in confusion.

"Thank you for before on the train!"

"Heh, I didn't even do anything," Ren huffed in amusement.

"It's not every day someone stands up for someone experiencing injustice!" the girl said.

"Oh no! I'm going to be late! On my first day too! My name is Orihime Inoue! I'll see you later!" she said as she sped away.

"And don't keep a kitty in your bag like that!"

...

Ren was speechless.

"Wow, she really moves to the beat of her own drum, huh?" Morgana said.

"How did she see you??"

"I popped my head out to see who you were talking to and she saw me immediately!"

"I feel like you were staring at her boobs," Ren accused.

'I definitely was—oof. Sorry, sorry! Arsene! Help! Silky's going crazy.'

'Why didn't I fuse you away?' Ren mentally sighed as he watched the not-cat desperately make excuses as to why he definitely was not distracted by that, grumbling about being a gentleman and having Lady Ann.

---

Leaning against the wall next to the vending machines in the school courtyard, Ren waited patiently for his friends to show up while listening carefully to the surrounding conversations.

Apparently Kamoshida had called out sick today. Ren didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

The other interesting thing was that there was a new student. A second -year honors student. Apparently she was a beautiful girl. Ren couldn't help but remember the ball of sunshine he met at the station.

"What's bonkin', bro?"

"What?"

"Tch. It will catch on," Ryuji clicked his tongue.

"I don't think so," Ann said as she and Shiho approached the two.

"Yo." Ren waved.

"Did you hear? Kamoshida called out today," Ryuji said excitedly.

"Is that good? We did beat his Shadow pretty hard..." Ann whispered.

Shiho snorted. "He'll be fine. The principal told all the volleyball members that practice was canceled because Kamoshida locked himself in his house and is ignoring calls."

"I hope we didn't..." Ryuji began before adding, "Ahhhhhhh, screw it."

"You guys hear about the new transfer student?" Ryuji asked with a raised brow, changing the topic.

"Yes, I've heard she's really nice," Shiho nodded.

"Yeah, Shiho and I heard about it. Do you know what year she's in?"

"First, I think?"

"I'm guessing second," Ren said suddenly.

"Huh?"

Ren just gave a smile. "Wanna make a bet, Ryuji?"

"No way, dude."
