Chapter 43 - The Broken Television Secret

After Agni took the lead and entered, Austin, Ryu, and Zenith followed closely into this somewhat dilapidated small building atop Mt. Coronet.

"Lu-ca?"

Ryu's expression was a little startled.

This small building was not big; with Ryu's Aura power, it could easily cover it.

"What's wrong?"

Ryu asked in surprise, "Lu Lucario!"

(I can't find them. Aura can't detect them)

Austin was confused, "Are they not here?"

He glanced at the radar scan, and the green light spot had not disappeared.

The red dot representing Austin almost completely overlapped with the green light spot, indicating that they had not come to the wrong place.

Meta" Zenith pointed to Agni, who was sniffing around, and then gestured to the stair railings on both sides.

The meaning was clear: look around.

"Nine."

(There's still a scent here.)

Ryu translated.

After entering this two-story building, Austin could confirm that no one had been here for a long time.

Furniture and decorations were covered with white sheets, stairs and corners full of cobwebs, and the handrails had a thick layer of dust.

Austin and Ryu formed one group, while Agni and Zenith each formed a group, searching this two-story building.

The kitchen, bedroom, walk-in closet…

Austin even opened the refrigerator, long without power; it was empty, with no gruesome dismembered bodies.

This brought Detective Austin's investigation to a temporary halt.

Based on the refrigerator's style and degree of aging, Austin estimated that it was older than him.

"Metagross Meta"

Standing in the corridor on the second floor, Austin and Ryu looked in Zenith's direction.

(There is something strange.)

In the living room on the first floor, Zenith seemed to have found something.

Austin and Ryu exchanged glances.

"Let's go."

But strangely, Ryu still couldn't sense any other fluctuations within the house besides their own.

Austin, Ryu, and Agni arrived in the living room one after another, looking at the old television set from which the white sheet had been pulled off.

It was an old model, a black-and-white television with a screen no larger than 14 inches, and it seemed to have nothing unusual about it.

Austin tried pressing a button, but it didn't turn on.

This was normal; there was no electricity here at all.

"Where's the strange part?"

"Metagross Metagross"

Hearing Zenith's words, Ryu's expression became very rich for a moment, indescribable.

Agni also tilted its head, stunned, frozen in place.

Austin was bewildered, "What does that mean?"

(This is a television set that doesn't have long to live.)

Ryu translated Zenith's words for Austin.

???

Excuse me?

Austin reasonably suspected that Zenith was teasing him.

Then, Zenith used its actions to show Austin: a glow appeared on its metal arm, Hammer Arm.

Austin no longer had time to stop it.

With sparks and lightning all the way,

Bang—

The old television set was obliterated.

Zenith was indeed right.

This television set truly didn't have long to live.

The explosion raised dust, stirring up a cloud of smoke.

Ryu immediately used Protect, shielding Austin.

At the same time, Ryu's telepathy conveyed an excited sound, (They are here)

"..."

Holy miltank, it actually worked?!

How did they hide inside?!

There were so many things to complain about, Austin didn't know where to start for a moment.

As the dust and smoke dissipated, two figures floating in the air gradually emerged: Dragapult and Drakloak.

The Dragapult was over three meters long, with a slender body in dark navy blue and light teal, a translucent white tail tip, and a yellow chest and abdomen.

Its most distinctive features were its triangular head, reminiscent of a Northrop B-2 Spirit stealth bomber in Austin's previous life, and a pair of mischievous squinting eyes.

As is well known, Pokémon with squinting eyes often have a mischievous streak.

Two Dreepy resided in the launchers on its head, ready to fire at supersonic speed as Dragon Darts.

Behind Dragapult, partially revealed at its side, was Drakloak, about 1.8 meters long including its tail.

Drakloak's overall color matched Dragapult's, and its head resembled a supersonic fighter jet, with a Dreepy perched atop.

The Identification Eye provided their details.

This was a pseudo-legendary mother-and-child pair; Dragapult vigilantly half-shielded Drakloak behind it.

Dragapult's strength rating was Platinum, on par with Ryu.

"Pult…"

Dragapult seemed aged; its physique remained strong, but Austin felt a sense of experience and weariness in its eyes.

Drakloak's eyes, in contrast, were clear and curious, like a child seeing the world for the first time.

"Drak?"

The Dreepy on Drakloak's head blinked excitedly and waved its tiny paw, "Dreepy!"

Unlike the vigilant Dragapult, Drakloak seemed delighted that the old television had been destroyed.

"Dragapult, I'm sorry for destroying your television. I can make it up to you."

"Pult. Dragapult."

As Dragapult spoke, Austin could feel its age and patience.

(It says no need, you can just leave.)

Although Dragapult requested they leave, Austin stayed put, his curiosity overriding his caution.

He reasoned that being visible on the radar meant Dragapult did not have a Trainer.

Looking around, the house had no food, no electricity, and no valuable items.

Why was Dragapult staying here?

While Austin pondered, the very curious Drakloak approached, looking up at him.

Drakloak's body length exceeded 1.8 meters, nearly half of which was its tail.

The Dreepy on Drakloak's head, even more curious, flew onto Austin's shoulder and draped itself like a scarf.

Austin raised his hand and gently touched it. "Hello there."

Dreepy's body was cool to the touch, and the texture of its scales was clearly defined.

Once the Dreepy was on Austin, Drakloak's curiosity vanished, and it became slightly flustered.

Austin knew the Dragapult family well, having recently completed Blue's breeding course.

Compared to Dragapult, the doting mother who would launch its Dreepy missiles at a moment's notice, Drakloak could not be without the Dreepy on its head; without it, it became anxious and flustered.

"You can borrow this for now."

Austin gently placed the Black Rayquaza's Dragon Scale from his backpack onto Drakloak's head.

"Drakloak~~"

Drakloak visibly relaxed, letting out a relieved sigh.

"Dragapult!"

Dragapult's tone grew slightly urgent until it saw the Black Dragon Scale resting safely on Drakloak's head.
