Derek Su trained at the club for an entire day.
That night, he still decided to head to Magic Sea Resort Island for a trip, mainly to let the club's Mecha Girls relax a bit.
As for himself, he had no real interest in sightseeing. If not for the AI driving that caught his attention, he probably would have just stayed in the hotel and slept. Training perception was simply too exhausting. It felt exhilarating while practicing, but afterward, his whole body felt light and unsteady, as if he might float away at any moment.
Because of this, their originally planned 9 a.m. departure the next day was delayed.
Since Derek Su, the club owner, overslept and the Mecha Girls didn't dare disturb him, their departure was pushed back to 3 p.m.
By the time they arrived at Magic Sea Resort Island on Absolute Shadow's private plane, it was already past 6 p.m.
After stepping off the tarmac, Derek Su looked around in surprise.
The landing pad was located at the highest point of the island, with a luxury hotel right behind it. From here, the entire island could be seen at a glance. He had assumed this resort would be similar to coastal vacation spots from his previous life, but now he realized he had underestimated the technological level of this world.
The entire resort was surrounded by lush greenery. The most striking feature was the cluster of massive curved glass structures at the center of the island. Inside, he could vaguely see various entertainment facilities, and there was even a Ferris wheel. These curved buildings surrounded a towering structure that seemed to pierce the sky, like a giant sword reaching upward. As dusk fell, the tower began to glow with shifting lights. The purple lights moving up and down were likely sightseeing elevators.
"Not bad. This is actually interesting." Derek Su felt a hint of anticipation.
If the island itself was built this impressively,
then the so-called AI driving competition should be worth looking forward to as well.
"Wow. I didn't expect it to be this big!" Stella leaned on the railing of the cable car platform, shading her eyes with one hand as she stared at the distant entertainment area, her eyes sparkling with excitement. The other Mecha Girls from the Stella Club looked just as curious.
Today really broadened their horizons.
Ever since gaining their mechanical cores, the Mecha Girls had longed for the world beyond Mecha Island.
After all, the world jointly developed by the Human Federation and Mecha Island was far more vibrant.
Take Stella for example. She hadn't been around for long, and she had been busy with competitions the whole time, so she had never even been to an amusement park.
She had rarely experienced the simple joys a human girl could enjoy.
"I didn't expect this place to be finished in just half a year," Absolute Shadow muttered, stroking her chin.
"Half a year?" Derek Su raised an eyebrow. "You know about this place?"
"I know a little." Absolute Shadow nodded. "You know I help train functional Mecha Girls for Mecha Island. This is one of their projects, and Magic Sea Resort Island is part of it. I heard about it when construction started six months ago. This island is mainly for Mecha Girls and drivers to relax. Ordinary people can't enter. Even regular drivers and Mecha Girls have to pay to come here. Since you're well-known, your entry fee was discounted to one-tenth when you signed up."
"Oh?" Derek Su grinned. "Didn't expect fame to get me discounts on vacations. So how much is it after the discount?"
"One million. Food, lodging, and entertainment on the island are all included."
"One million?!"
Derek Su felt numb.
Without the discount, that would be ten million.
That was the price of a decent-performance Mecha Girl at auction.
Even in his previous life, when he had money, he had never been so extravagant as to spend ten million just to visit an island.
"Enough talking. Let's head down first." Absolute Shadow covered her mouth and chuckled.
...
The group took a cable car down to the entertainment district at the center of the island.
Seeing it from afar was nothing compared to experiencing it up close.
The area was filled with all kinds of entertainment venues, from bars, gyms, and cinemas to murder mystery game shops and large amusement parks.
Derek Su also noticed there were a lot of robots here.
They acted as guides, cleaned the streets, and even worked as chefs and shop assistants.
Some functional Mecha Girls were present as well, though they mostly seemed to be in managerial roles.
"Master! I want to try that!" Stella pointed at a gloomy-looking building at the corner of the street. It resembled a small hospital, with a sign reading "Longvine Hospital." Several functional Mecha Girls dressed in terrifying costumes stood at the entrance, trying to attract customers.
Derek Su's mouth twitched, and a chill ran down his back as some unpleasant memories surfaced.
A haunted house?
If Stella went in there, she probably wouldn't end up beating all the "ghosts" to a pulp, would she?
Then again, the ghosts inside were likely just functional Mecha Girls or robots.
Even if Stella got a bit rough, no one would get hurt. At worst, she would damage some equipment and have to pay for it.
Besides, if they dared to open a haunted house here, they must have already taken the destructive power of Mecha Girls into account.
"Let's not rush. We'll come back later." Derek Su pointed at the sky. "It's not even dark yet. It'll be more exciting at night."
Stella pouted. "Master, you're not scared, are you?"
"Scared?" Derek Su's eyelid twitched as he forced a laugh. "Of course not. Do I look like someone who's afraid of ghosts? Back in the day, I used to go looking for them in haunted houses. Let's come back when it's late tonight. Just don't start screaming when the ghosts show up."
