Conrad entered the cell, knelt down and hugged the boy, "I am sorry, you have done nothing wrong. I should have prepared you for the meeting."
Beleth pushed him back and clenched his little hands into fists. Biting his lips he looked down, "It was my fault." He mumbled "I have accepted it. All I do is cause trouble. So please… just leave me here."
"That is not true yo…
"Do not lie to me!" He cried out, " I am sure even now you have had to sacrifice many things to be here." the boy stepped back, "I am sorry for saying I believe in you, I am sorry for burdening you with my life. It is all my fault to begin with, so please.. let me atone for my mistakes."
A vein popped up on Conrad's forehead, his eyes and eyebrows, contorting in anger as he raised his voice, "Enough with this!" He slammed his hand into the wall leaving a crack in the stone, "What is wrong with you!? Why are you trying so hard to be guilty?"
The boy who had glued himself to the wall and averted his gaze, "Because it is always my fault, from the day I was born it always has been. If it is not my fault I cannot be better. And if I cannot be better I will be useless."
"What sort of Idiocy is that !?!" the man stomped forward, "You whimpy little brat, you are not useful, you are not supposed to be useful." He grabbed the boy's shoulders and looked directly into his eyes, "Anyone who would rely on you is a forsaken moron. Do you know why?" Beleth shook his head confused and a little scared.
"It is because you are a child!!!" He yelled right at him, "You bear no responsibility for anything, neither your own actions nor the ones someone else has taken because of you." He grabbed his hand and began pulling him towards the door to leave the cell, "Now be useful and move your feet."
"Wait ! Where are we even supposed to go?" He said as he stumbled forward and fell, his legs not able to hold him. "My legs hurt."
Conrad took notice. Just as he did countless voices began to echo throughout the corridors of the prison, even louder were the sound of steps approaching them. He turned towards the boy and asked calmly, "How are you with heights?"
Beleth turned to him not sure whether to worry about his sorry legs or the question. "Please wait."
"We do not have time to wait." He said as he grabbed the boy and put it on his back. "Hold tight!" Conrad then put on the cloak he gave to the boy.
He went to the window, a faint blue glow appeared on his fingertips. With a straight hand he pierced the wall, shattering it instantly.
The wall crumbled and fell, the cold wind from the outside entered and blew into Conrad's face, stinging like needles.
The moon's light illuminated them both, "Do you still want to stay?"
Beleth just quieted down and wrapped himself tightly around Conrad, " I want everything to be fine."
Conrad patted his head, "Everything is going to be fine." He looked down, the ground a mere ninety meters away.
With a smirk on his face he jumped.
