Shen Yan drove home in silence.
When he stepped through the threshold, Gong Yuchen looked up sharply with apparent relief in his eyes.
Shen Yan raised an eyebrow, closing the door behind himself.
"What, did you think he'd murder me and hide my body?"
Gong Yuchen chuckled awkwardly.
"Now that you mention it.."
Shen Yan stopped him from going further.
"Qin Yue is from your village right?"
Gong Yuchen looked at him in surprise. The words "how did you know" practically written on his face.
"You told me"
Gong Yuchen thought hard before realising he seems to have mentioned it in passing before.
"Yes, I didn't have much interaction with him though. Everyone basically stayed away from him"
"So whatever you know about him is from unreliable rumours?"
Gong Yuchen's head hung low. If he had known Qin Yue wasn't the devils own diciple and made an effort to befrind him back then would things have turned out different?
Shen Yan couldn't stand his self pitying look.
