Chapter 182: Tang San—A Father's Love!
After the turmoil subsided, Tang San followed behind Flender, the Master, and Liu Erlong as they walked back toward Shrek Academy.
Along the way, Tang San fell silent.
Everything that happened today filled him with humiliation.
Yu Tianxin's death had nothing to do with him.
He had only wanted to win the spirit battle.
Was that a crime?
Yet, not only did he have to apologize to his teacher and Liu Erlong, but he had also endured questioning from the tournament committee.
Before that, his very life had been endangered.
Just like before, in Soto City.
This was the second time.
The second time someone from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan had tried to kill him because of a duel.
Even his father, Tang Hao, had fought Yu Yuanzhen twice because of this.
The last time, outside Soto City, Tang San hadn't been able to witness their battle.
So, he hadn't known if his father was injured.
But judging from what happened today, he was certain his father had been hurt then as well.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have fought so desperately from the very beginning, unleashing forbidden techniques.
Tang San didn't know the exact skill, but through his Purple Demon Eyes, he had seen his father's spirit power surging again and again before suddenly weakening—he realized what had happened.
At the battle's end, Tang Hao had been covered in blood. Ever since, Tang San's heart had not been at peace.
How was his father now?
Soon, they arrived back at Blue Tyrant Academy.
Both the Shrek members and teachers carried their own thoughts. Exchanging only a few glances, they all quietly returned to their rooms.
Tang San, however, walked alone into the depths of the forest.
He stopped under a large tree.
"Father, you've been protecting me in secret all along. You must be hurt. How are you now?"
His voice trembled uncontrollably. Tonight, he was determined to find his father.
But there was no reply.
"Father," Tang San called again, "my spirit power has a strong life force. I can heal your wounds. Please, come see me!"
He shouted again and again through the dark forest.
But Tang Hao remained silent, seemingly unwilling to appear.
That didn't stop Tang San.
With a flick of his wrist, a dagger appeared. The sound of piercing flesh echoed softly as he slit his own wrist.
"Father, if you don't show yourself, I'll let my blood run dry and die right here!"
"What are you doing!"
A furious voice roared, and Tang Hao's figure appeared behind him.
"Father!"
Tang San whirled around. At last, he saw that familiar, imposing figure again.
In an instant, he dashed forward, dropped to his knees, and threw his arms around Tang Hao's leg.
"Father, your aura is unstable. That Yu Yuanzhen actually injured you this badly—he deserves to die!"
A murderous heat flared around Tang San.
Tang Hao's expression tightened. "I don't need your concern. Worrying about me is a waste of your cultivation time.
With your current strength, you can't accomplish anything!"
Tang San shook his head rapidly, his voice shaking with emotion. Finally, he could spend even a brief moment alone with his father.
"Father, I'm not lying to you. My spirit power really can help heal your wounds!"
He stepped behind Tang Hao, channeling the Xuan Tian Skill.
Gentle, white internal energy flowed from his palms and pressed against Tang Hao's back.
Tang San's energy seeped into his father's body—but what he found made his eyes widen in shock.
His father's internal condition was far worse than expected. His meridians were twisted, his spirit power chaotic, several of his bones fractured.
Such injuries would have killed any ordinary person.
"Give it up," Tang Hao said flatly. "If you understand, go back and focus on your training. With your current strength, you can do nothing except bring yourself pain."
His tone was merciless.
But Tang San refused to stop.
His spirit power gently nurtured Tang Hao's broken meridians and bones.
It had some faint effect, but even as his energy was nearly drained, his father's injuries barely changed.
It was like trying to move a mountain with a feather.
Tang Hao's damaged meridians were rigid and unyielding—short of burning his own life force, Tang San could do nothing.
Most of those wounds were old and deeply rooted.
"Father, your injuries are too severe… and because of me, you've fought twice more. I—"
Tears welled in Tang San's eyes; his voice quivered with pain.
Tang Hao frowned, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes. "I'm not dead yet. Don't cry! My wounds are none of your concern. What you must do now is grow stronger—fast.
And your teacher, the Master, he's surely devastated right now. You should be the one to comfort him."
Tang San stood firmly before his father. "You're right, Father. I can't yet do much.
But I will grow stronger—strong enough to heal you completely!
I owe my teacher gratitude, and I'll repay him. But Yu Yuanzhen, who injured you twice—even if he's my teacher's father, I will have my revenge!"
His words rang with conviction.
A loud crack echoed—Tang Hao's palm suddenly struck his face, sending him sprawling to the ground.
"Yu Yuanzhen is your teacher's father. How do you intend to avenge anything?
Bury your hatred. Treat the Master as you treat me!
Only he can help you master your twin spirits!"
Tang Hao's tone was furious.
Even he had no intention of revenge right now—Tang San's growth was everything that mattered.
Tang San, stunned by the blow, sat dazed for a moment before coming to his senses. "Yes, Father."
He finally understood—his father wanted him to bear humiliation and endure.
The realization made his heart ache even more deeply.
He swore that once he had enough power, he would have vengeance.
Yu Yuanzhen had wounded his father twice. Tang San would do the same. For his teacher's sake, he would spare his life—but nothing more.
"Go. Grow strong quickly, just as I instructed. When you reach the Spirit Ancestor realm, I'll take you for personal training—to master the Clear Sky Hammer."
Tang Hao's tone softened faintly.
Tang San knelt and kowtowed deeply, then turned and left without looking back.
The harsher his father's words, the warmer Tang San's heart became.
This was love—a father's love.
And once he became a Spirit Ancestor, he could train under his father's guidance.
A renewed fighting spirit burned in his chest.
He was level thirty-four now. After exhausting his spirit power earlier, he could already sense the bottleneck loosening—it wouldn't be long before he reached level thirty-five.
Spirit Ancestor—he would achieve it in less than two years.
Tang San resolved to train relentlessly, without rest, to reach that goal as soon as possible.
After he left, Tang Hao coughed twice, spitting out a mouthful of dark blood.
"Second Brother, you're badly hurt!"
From behind a tree, a tall, broad figure stepped out—it was Tang Xiao.
The moment he had heard of the battle in Heaven Dou City, he had rushed here and happened to witness the exchange between Tang Hao and Tang San.
Tang Hao smiled bitterly. "Just old wounds acting up."
"Don't fight again for a while. Focus on recovering—I'll protect Xiao San.
But tell me, how did this even happen? Why has Xiao San killed Yu Tianheng and Yu Tianxin in succession?"
Tang Xiao's voice carried his deepest confusion.
He couldn't make sense of it at all.
