Chapter 106 - Chapter 104: She Who Craves "Kindred Spirits"

Before we continue reading this my fellow readers. I am sorry that i posted this chapter late. Partly due towards to tranlating otto apocalypse fics being easier it for me to beta and co-author or something idk if i added to just sub-plots that make the characters character. I was trying to desinify it, translating another fic which is i am adapting because i liked the premise and but disliked too much… you know Chinese stuff considering the world is fate do you actually expect saber to act like a Chinese temu version of saber or do you want an Authentic one. And the other is i was writing a fanfic an original crossover fic where mc is a normal human got tangled in a multi-crossover due to a contract he made as a joke. Now he has to survive 30 seconds alongside with his own lo-op holes that he made in the contract for fun. Because the contract is essentially an ad that he expected it to be fake. But enough of that. Here and enjoy the chapter i am currently transcripting and re-proselytizing another fic where Otto apocalypse as a berserker servant in Nasu verse.

Kevin, Elysia, and Fu Hua arrived at a quiet, small town located on the very edge of the zone enveloped by the "Canopy."

This was the very territory that had been engulfed not long ago when Hen led his squad nearby for investigation.

To be perfectly honest, using the word "quiet" to describe the current state of the town was a massive understatement.

It was utterly silent. If not for the faint sound of footsteps echoing through the streets, one could easily hear a pin drop.

But without a doubt, when a place is this unnaturally silent, something is fundamentally wrong.

At this moment, the three of them pricked up their ears. They could not even hear the sound of the wind.

"Sigh. This is going to be difficult."

As the three of them walked together, Fu Hua lowered her head to look at her left wrist. There, she wore an exquisite, retro-styled mechanical wristwatch.

If one looked closely, the watch face featured several gear-shaped ornaments that rotated on their own, though they served absolutely no functional purpose.

This was a quirky little invention handed to her before their departure by a certain self-proclaimed "Greatest Magician of the Century."

It was equipped with a portable Honkai Energy detection device, along with long-distance communication capabilities and live recording functions.

Most importantly. It was incredibly durable.

According to the inventor herself: "It should be able to withstand the shockwaves of a Herrscher-level battle without being damaged. Probably?"

To be frank, that final "probably?" made everyone incredibly uneasy.

But those were the exact words of the creator, Vill-V.

"Sigh."

Fu Hua let out another helpless sigh.

At this point, the three of them had already lost contact with the outside world. The communication signal appeared to have been completely severed by the boundary of the Canopy.

The device's most essential function—the scanning capability meant to pinpoint the Herrscher's location—had also been rendered useless.

Because inside this Tranquil Miniature Garden, Honkai Energy fluctuations were erupting irregularly from every single direction at every moment.

Logically speaking, if an ordinary human lived in an environment like this for a prolonged period, they would undoubtedly contract the Honkai sickness.

It was even possible that by the end of the very first day, those bizarre purple markings would begin to manifest on their skin.

Zombie-fication was not out of the realm of possibility.

However.

"Kevin, Kevin. Look over there."

Elysia reached out and tapped the white-haired young man's shoulder. "There are people over there."

"And. A lot of them are coming."

Actually, Elysia did not even need to warn them.

Kevin and Fu Hua were both Flame-Chaser-level Fusion Warriors.

Especially the former. After committing himself to Project Chimera, his strength became an absolute, unmatched tier of power beneath the Finality itself.

Therefore, the senses of both Kevin and Fu Hua were incredibly sharp.

Precisely because of this.

"Those people. They are not right."

At this moment, Fu Hua had not entered the state of Man-made Honkai Eruption. She had not even changed her hair color. Relying solely on the stat boosts from her Shadow Knight: Moonblade armor, she had already assumed a combat-ready stance.

Kevin had kept the Judgment of Shamash in his hands from the very beginning, never stowing it away.

Only Elysia. While the longbow was her most proficient and favorite weapon—the one she considered the most elegant and adorable—she possessed a wide variety of combat techniques, so she did not feel compelled to stick to just one.

At this moment, two pink-purple crystal flowers hovered beside her, fully primed and ready to strike. Beautiful, yet dangerous.

Right under these circumstances.

Step. Step. Step.

An unnaturally uniform sound of footsteps, as eerie as the silent environment surrounding them, echoed out.

Inside this small town, as if a secret assembly had been suddenly called, hundreds of residents gathered in the exact same spot at the exact same moment.

Subsequently, they completely surrounded Kevin, Elysia, and Fu Hua, trapping them in the center.

"Would you say they are welcoming us? Or are they not?"

Elysia whispered.

"Of course we do not welcome you."

Hundreds of local residents spoke in a chilling, synchronized chorus. "No one welcomes malicious intruders who force their way into their home."

Kevin and Fu Hua immediately furrowed their brows tightly.

This situation.

"Seriously? Who is actually the Herrscher of Sentience here?"

A complaint sounded within Fu Hua's mind, courtesy of Senti. "How come everyone in this day and age knows how to pull this stunt?"

Hearing this, Fu Hua did not respond.

However, Kevin.

"Are you capable of communicating with us normally?"

His gaze swept rapidly across everyone surrounding them. Across every single face.

Soon, he realized that the eyes of every local resident were glowing with a faint, ghostly red light.

And when he asked that question.

"Communicate normally? Heh."

One of the middle-aged male residents offered a cold sneer. "By using 'communication' as a front, only to slash me down with your sword?"

"Are you stupid, or am I?"

"..."

Kevin was left speechless.

The other party seemed to have completely misunderstood his intent.

Fundamentally, he had wanted to ask: Why do you still retain a clear sense of individual will?

Ugh. Alright. That kind of phrasing also sounds a bit like I'm insulting their intelligence.

However.

Is it possible that the Herrschers of our era also have a chance to reclaim their humanity?

Kevin glanced at Elysia beside him. A question like that flashed through his mind.

He certainly knew that even the Herrschers from the original historical trajectory were not merely mindless killing machines.

They possessed intelligence. They knew how to deceive others.

In the past, because he had felt a moment of pity at a critical juncture, the death toll at the end of the Sixth Eruption had risen by millions for no reason.

That was a mistake he regretted with every fiber of his being.

In short, Kevin would not let his guard down.

But honestly, the performance of this Herrscher currently before them was, to some extent, quite bizarre.

She. It should be "she," right?

She appeared to have no intention of exterminating all of humanity. Instead, she acted more like a snarling wolf pup refusing to let outsiders near her territory.

Right at this moment.

"Are you truly capable of communicating with us normally?"

Elysia suddenly spoke up from the side. "If you are, we would actually much prefer to resolve this problem through dialogue."

In this very second, a specific craving bloomed within her heart.

This craving was not something shallow, like her usual fondness for beauty or girls.

Instead. It was as if, precisely because she had been accidentally birthed from the Cocoon of Finality. She was actually yearning for "kindred spirits."

Kindred spirits. Other Herrschers who were equally capable of engaging in proper dialogue.

Therefore.

"My name is Elysia. I chose the name myself. It carries the meaning of the 'Elysian Realm'."

Elysia attempted to probe with a question, simultaneously expressing her goodwill.

She looked around at her surroundings. "Could you tell me your name?"

Dead silence.

The local residents surrounding them did not utter a single word.

Elysia waited patiently, still holding onto hope.

Finally.

"I have nothing to say to you people."

This time, it was clearly not a puppet speaking on her behalf.

A beautiful, short-haired young girl walked out from the crowd.

Phantasmal butterflies drifted around her, and purple-black phosphorescence danced in the air.

It seemed this physical form had yet to fully stabilize. It was temporary.

"Leave. Intruders."

The short-haired girl said coldly. "I do not need to know you. I only wish for you to stop coming here to disturb me."

"Otherwise."

Her eyes turned icy. "If you make me lose something precious, I will show no mercy in making you experience that very same pain."

"Do not force my hand!"

[update]

Also as you might see i co-authored the Otto apocalypse fic that the other readers have been reading. That was experimental hopefully i could put to use. I just add necessary context like subplots that the author had missed and do a bit of beta.
