Chapter 154 - Su Cheng, Stop Pretending

"I won't disturb your reminiscing.   Feel free to contact me anytime if you need

anything." Dugu Bo glanced at Su Cheng's expression and knew there was more to it than met the eye. His lips moved slightly, then he vanished like a phantom, disappearing without a trace.   "Excuse me, is there anything else?"   Su Cheng looked at Zhu Zhuqing with a blank expression.   "Su Cheng, don't pretend!"   Hearing his feigned confusion, Zhu Zhuqing's anger surged.   She gritted her teeth and took a few more steps forward, closing the distance between them to less than two feet.   Her once cool face became somewhat distorted, her eyes widened, her eyebrows raised high, her gaze filled with a complex mix of anger, resentment, surprise, and excitement.   In front of this person, she could no longer maintain her former composure.   Those memories, those memories longer than her entire life, surged like a volcano, yet she suppressed them tightly in her heart, preventing them from erupting.   If the others at Shrek Academy were to see her strange expression at this moment, they would surely be astonished.   Zhu Zhuqing's voice trembled slightly, yet seemed to contain a hint of anticipation.   "You dare say that my strange memories, those inexplicable dreams, have nothing to do with you?!"   Unlike Qian Renxue   , in Qian Renxue's mind, Su Cheng's appearance at the wrong time was inappropriate.   The real Su Cheng was too young.   In her view, if Su Cheng had been given several more decades to grow, he would naturally become the teacher she remembered.   His appearance a step ahead of time was like meeting the right person at the wrong time, a strange kind of fate.   She wouldn't consider that the dream actually came from Su Cheng.   As for Su Cheng's extraordinary abilities and talents in reality, it was because, like her, he possessed memories from a dream.   Because she herself had truly mastered the Qi-replenishing technique and even the method of absorbing soul rings across age limits.   But Zhu Zhuqing was different.   Su Cheng was the same age as her in the simulated world.   In her youth, he not only acted as her childhood friend and classmate, but even impersonated her father, subtly guiding her.   Furthermore, he taught her the Nirvana Sutra, how to absorb soul rings across age limits, and finally, how to seize bloodlines, helping her cultivate the Netherworld White Tiger Martial Soul and advance to the Title Douluo level.   All of this was clearly beyond what Su Cheng could accomplish at his age.   Moreover, she couldn't understand what Su Cheng was after doing all that.   Especially after she regained consciousness, she realized something was amiss.   This person didn't exist in reality, yet the various cultivation techniques in her memories were undeniably real.   After seeing Su Cheng today, she instantly became certain that her suspicions were the truth.   Or rather, she hoped it was the truth   —all these changes must be related to Su Cheng.   Su Cheng thought to himself, "As expected."   He had sensed something was wrong when he was in the room.   Zhu Zhuqing's flustered reaction upon seeing him, and her unreasonable cultivation level, were both proof.   Of course, the most crucial thing was that special aura, so similar to the Zhu Zhuqing in his memory.   "It seems to be a similar situation to Xiaoxue, but not as severe as schizophrenia," Su Cheng thought to himself. "So, the longer I spend with someone in the simulated world, the greater the influence on them, and the more related memories I accumulate?"   Thinking of this, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, wondering what Bibi Dong's current situation was.   "Why aren't you saying anything?" Zhu Zhuqing stared at Su Cheng. "Weren't you very good at pretending? Keep pretending!"   Hearing her angry rebuke, Su Cheng temporarily suppressed his thoughts, looked at the slightly agitated Zhu Zhuqing, and chuckled softly, "Then what did you come out to find me for?"   Zhu Zhuqing was taken aback.   Yes, what for?   She hadn't thought about anything at all, just acting on an uncontrollable instinctive impulse, not knowing why she had chased after him like that.   She just wanted to talk to him, or question him a few times.   But now that she had actually seen him, and her emotions had been vented, she didn't know what to do or say next.   Looking at Zhu Zhuqing, Su Cheng suddenly had a thought, and a bold plan began to take shape in his mind. "You joined   Shrek Academy   for that White Tiger Martial Soul, right?"   Zhu Zhuqing stared at him silently, and after a long silence, nodded.   "You really want to become stronger?"   "Of course." "Why? Is it for your corrupt family's competitive rules, or to control the Star Luo Empire in the future?"   "No reason. I simply want to become stronger, no other reason needed." Zhu Zhuqing said coldly, "What, are you starting to plot something again? This time I won't listen to you."   "Haha, no, of course not." Hearing her answer, Su Cheng clapped his hands and laughed.   "I think what you said is well said, very well said. Just for that, I can help you again."   Zhu Zhuqing was stunned.   Su Cheng's reaction was completely different from what she had imagined.   But what she just said was indeed the truth, not just said in anger.   Defeating Davis was just a side effect, a reward for using the White Tiger Martial Soul.   But family rules, the Star Luo throne, and such things were completely irrelevant to her.   The grand scheme in her dream, the lifelong lie, had already made her weary of all these things.   "I can help you significantly improve your cultivation in a short time, without any hidden dangers, and I can also solidify your foundation. You should know my abilities," Su Cheng said seriously.   "However, there's a condition: you must guarantee that you lead your academy's team to the finals of this year's Soul Master Competition."   Zhu Zhuqing raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, but didn't ask any further questions for the time being, only saying, "How will you help me?"   "I'll explain in detail later. First, go and ask your academy's teachers for a long leave. Just three months, tell them you need to cultivate alone for three months."   "..."

After gazing at Su Cheng for a long time, she finally nodded slightly.

  "Okay."

After Zhu Zhuqing left and returned to the Education Committee,

Dugu Bo suddenly appeared from nowhere and stood beside Su Cheng.

Clearly, he hadn't gone far, having been hiding somewhere watching the commotion.

"You value this girl highly," he suddenly remarked.

"Really?" Su Cheng was taken aback.

"It's rare to see you so happy," Dugu Bo scrutinized him. "You admire her?"

"That's right," Su Cheng nodded frankly. "Don't you think she's very pure?"

To be honest, he hadn't expected Zhu Zhuqing to say something like "becoming stronger doesn't need a reason."

But whether Zhu Zhuqing was pure or not was clearly not Dugu Bo's focus; a mischievous smile played on his lips.

Looking at Su Cheng, he asked, "What about the Spirit Hall?"

  "What about what?"

"Don't play dumb. I can tell there's something going on between you and this girl."

Su Cheng looked slightly embarrassed, but said seriously, "You don't understand."

"It's a good thing I didn't introduce Yan Yan to you. I think both girls are troublemakers; you'll be in for it later."

  Dugu Bo, however, looked smug.

He had no prejudice against how many girls Su Cheng knew or what their relationships were like.

But in his opinion, these girls were clearly far beyond Dugu Yan's level.

Before Su Cheng could wait long, Zhu Zhuqing walked out of the teaching committee and came to him.

In the past year or so, Zhu Zhuqing had frequently asked for leave to cultivate alone, and the teachers at the academy couldn't control her, so they simply let her do as she pleased.

Anyway, as long as this genius girl was willing to admit she was a student of Shrek Academy, that was enough.

Dugu Bo had already left, and before leaving, Su Cheng had taken his treasure pouch.

"Come with me, I'll take you somewhere first."

Seeing that Zhu Zhuqing was ready, Su Cheng didn't delay and turned to walk out of the academy, preparing to take her to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well.

As they walked, Zhu Zhuqing's gaze kept drifting towards Su Cheng.

Her mood was far from the calm she had just displayed.

"You just said you wanted me to lead the team to help Shrek Academy enter the finals, why?"

"I need someone from your team to go and challenge the Spirit Hall."

"Heh." Zhu Zhuqing's face immediately turned sarcastic. "Didn't you say you were from the Spirit Hall?"

"Not yet." Su Cheng's expression stiffened; he hadn't expected her to remember even such a detail.

  "..."

Zhu Zhuqing didn't dwell on the matter too much, instead asking with a slightly provocative tone, "What will happen if I can't do it?"

"Nothing will happen," Su Cheng replied casually. "I've already given you the benefits in advance, so there's nothing I can do if you can't do it."

He then turned to meet her gaze. "However, I will be very disappointed."

"Hmph," Zhu Zhuqing scoffed coldly, disdainfully saying, "What does your disappointment have to do with me?"

  "Indeed," Su Cheng smiled, unconcerned.

"Now that Miss Four is free and easy, she certainly doesn't need to care about others' opinions."

"You know that's good." Zhu Zhuqing turned her head to look ahead. "If you dare to lie to me, I won't let you off so easily again."

"I, Su Cheng, never lie willingly."

Hearing this, Zhu Zhuqing immediately glared at him. Seeing this,

Su Cheng quickly added, "Things that haven't happened in reality don't count."

In the deep valley where the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well was located in Sunset Forest,

Su Cheng and Zhu Zhuqing stood side by side beside the spring.

Looking at the spectacular sight of ice and fire merging before them, Zhu Zhuqing was momentarily lost in thought.

A moment later, she glanced at Su Cheng beside her, then lowered her eyes, lost in thought.

Su Cheng didn't notice her expression, instead pointing to a beautiful scene in the valley.

"Zhu Qing, do you see? This place is full of rare and exotic herbs.

"Some of these are celestial herbs; if an ordinary person took just one, it would be enough to defy fate and potentially even become a Title Douluo. Their effects are countless times stronger than the potions I've concocted before.

"However, many herbs are not suitable for everyone. If consumed incorrectly, they can cause physical damage and ruin one's cultivation, or even cost one's life.

"And, I have something to tell you."

Su Cheng turned to look at Zhu Zhu Qing, "I myself have never consumed any of these celestial herbs."

Zhu Zhu Qing was taken aback.

Since the celestial herbs here were so potent, why didn't Su Cheng consume them himself?

"My path of cultivation is different from ordinary people. My physical body is my foundation. The effects of celestial herbs are too strong; no one can fully digest them. A large amount of medicinal power would inevitably remain in my body, disrupting my physical balance."

"You're different. You'll be focusing on developing the Netherworld White Tiger Martial Soul. Furthermore, Beast Martial Souls and Weapon Martial Souls are fundamentally different. Therefore, the Immortal Herb will be extremely helpful to you. But whether or not you use it is entirely up to you.

If you don't want to take the Immortal Herb, I can also prepare a potion for you using other herbs here. The effects will far surpass your usual arduous cultivation, and there won't be any residual medicinal effects."

As he spoke, Su Cheng stared intently at Zhu Zhuqing.

Zhu Zhuqing's gaze lingered on his face for a moment, then she turned her head away, avoiding his gaze, and said softly, "Your suggestion is for me to use the Immortal Herb?"

  "Yes."

  "Then use the Immortal Herb."
