Chapter 5 - BOSS GENEVA

Jacqueline stared at the photograph in disbelief.

Her hands trembled as she read the message again.

"THE NEXT ATTEMPT WILL NOT FAIL."

A chill ran down her spine.

Who would want her dead?

And why?

She quickly looked around the parking lot, but there was no sign of Geneva or his car.

Only silence.

Immediately, she got into her car and drove straight to Barbara's apartment.

A few minutes later...

Barbara opened the door and frowned when she saw Jacqueline's pale face.

"Jackie, what happened?"

Without saying a word, Jacqueline handed her the photograph.

Barbara's eyes widened.

"Oh my God."

"I told you the phone call wasn't a prank."

Barbara looked frightened.

"Who gave you this?"

"Geneva Cassano."

The room instantly became quiet.

"The Geneva Cassano?" Barbara asked.

"Yes."

Barbara sat down immediately.

Everyone knew the Cassano name.

Power.

Money.

Fear.

Danger.

Those were the words people associated with the family.

"What does he want with you?" Barbara asked.

"I don't know."

That night...

Neither of them could sleep.

Unknown to them, a black SUV was parked outside the building.

Inside sat Geneva.

His eyes remained fixed on the apartment window.

One of his men sat beside him.

"Boss, are you sure this is necessary?"

Geneva didn't answer immediately.

Something about Jacqueline bothered him.

She was connected to something.

Something important.

Something hidden.

And he intended to find out what it was.

Suddenly, his phone rang.

The screen displayed a name.

DON CASSANO

Geneva's expression darkened.

He answered.

"What is it?"

"Come home."

The voice on the other end sounded cold.

"We have a problem."

Back at the Cassano mansion...

Several men stood around a large table.

The atmosphere was tense.

Don Cassano, the head of the family, looked furious.

"The shipment was attacked."

Everyone remained silent.

"Someone betrayed us."

Geneva slowly entered the room.

The moment he arrived, all eyes turned toward him.

"Who is responsible?" he asked calmly.

"No one knows."

Geneva's eyes narrowed.

"Find them."

A nervous man stepped forward.

"We captured one of the attackers."

Geneva smirked.

"Bring him."

Moments later, a badly injured man was dragged into the room.

The prisoner looked terrified the second he saw Geneva.

"P-Please... spare me..."

Geneva crouched in front of him.

"Tell me who sent you."

"I don't know!"

The man cried.

"I swear!"

Geneva stared at him for several seconds.

Then he stood up.

"Wrong answer."

A gunshot echoed through the room.

Everyone lowered their heads.

No one dared challenge Geneva Cassano.

Meanwhile...

At 2:13 a.m., Jacqueline suddenly woke up.

Her heart was racing.

She wasn't sure why.

Then she heard it.

A noise.

Coming from outside her apartment window.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Fear filled her chest.

Slowly, she walked toward the curtain.

Her hands shaking.

She pulled it aside.

And froze.

Standing across the street was a figure dressed entirely in black.

Watching her.

Not moving.

Not blinking.

Just watching.

Then the figure slowly raised a hand.

And pointed directly at her.
