The next day…
There was a long, snake-like patch of brown dirt staining the white snow. Dozens of soldiers held shovels, their armour long discarded as they dug through the snow and jagged rocks.
Because the land was rocky, one group made use of pickaxes, excavating the floor, while the other group shoveled out the dirt.
Clack!
One of the knights drove his axe into the floor, a jolt running up his shoulder down to his feet. He staggered back, his teeth clattering.
"Damn it!" He cursed. "Why are we stuck digging ditches? We are knights for god-sake!"
The knight beside him continued digging as though he had not heard him.
"Hey, I'm talking to you. Can't a man gossip with his fellow knight any longer?"
The second knight sighed and straightened, wiping the sweat off his face.
"What do you want us to do? Complain?" He asked with a nonchalant expression.
