In a distant galaxy, far from Namek—
Cooler's spaceship was traveling at extreme speed, also heading straight for Namek Planet.
After learning of the Dragon Balls' existence, Cooler knew he was already slower than both his younger brother and his father.
Still, even if there was only the faintest chance, he had no choice but to try.
As an emperor in his own right, how could he not covet something capable of granting wishes?
If he didn't fight for it, his future would be forever suppressed by Frieza.
Standing at such a high position in the universe, Cooler had too many desires he wanted to fulfill.
Eternal youth.
Immortality.
Greater strength.
And even… replacing Frieza to become the true Emperor of the Universe.
Inside the command room of the spaceship, Cooler sat calmly.
His posture, his demeanor—everything about him was eerily similar to Frieza.
The same hover-pod, though its shape more closely resembled Frieza's final form.
…
Namek Planet.
After completely subduing the remaining elite logistics personnel aboard Frieza's spaceship, Vegeta ordered them to pilot the ship toward the Grand Elder's residence.
When Frieza's spaceship appeared in the sky, the Namekians instantly went on high alert.
Even though it was Vegeta who emerged, fear still spread among them.
After all, Frieza was gone—but Vegeta remained.
And that fact alone was terrifying.
Krillin, Gohan, and Bulma stood among the Namekians, not daring to speak, their expressions tense as they watched Vegeta approach.
They could all sense it.
Before, Vegeta hadn't harmed the Namekians because Frieza was still a threat and the Namekians still had value.
Now that Frieza was dead, Vegeta was the sole dominant force.
Would he do something insane?
"Frieza has been eliminated by me," Vegeta said calmly as he waved for the Frieza Force personnel to halt behind him.
"As for these people—although they were part of Frieza's army, they did not participate in the slaughter of the Namekians after arriving here. They bear no blood debt to your race."
The crowd exchanged uneasy glances.
Krillin and Gohan were especially shocked.
Since when did Vegeta become this… reasonable?
Back on Earth, he had killed his own subordinate without hesitation.
They would never forget Nappa.
That overwhelming terror was still burned into their memories.
No one stepped forward—until Nail moved.
He stood firmly in front of Vegeta, blocking his path.
"What? Still trying to stop me?" Vegeta sneered, looking down at Nail with clear disdain.
"You know you don't have the strength. You should be thanking me—otherwise, every one of you would already be dead by Frieza's hand."
If Nail still lacked awareness at this point, Vegeta wouldn't mind acting.
Once, twice—Vegeta could ignore it.
But repeatedly standing in his way was another matter entirely.
Nail stared at Vegeta for several seconds… then slowly stepped aside.
As the guardian of the Grand Elder, Nail had always stood before that door.
Now, he moved on his own accord.
Partly because of the Grand Elder's instruction—and partly because he finally recognized reality.
"I still don't fully accept you," Nail said slowly, clenching his fists.
"But… I must thank you for killing Frieza and saving our race from extinction. I apologize for my earlier rudeness. It was narrow-minded of me."
Vegeta paused briefly, then scoffed.
Did he really care what Nail thought?
No.
"If you'd been rational from the beginning, wouldn't there have been less trouble?" Vegeta replied coldly.
"You wouldn't have had to exhaust yourself worrying about everything."
With that, he walked past Nail and entered the residence.
Nail remained silent, watching him go.
After a long moment, he let out a quiet sigh.
For someone as proud as him, this was humiliating—but saying those words strangely lifted a weight from his heart.
…
Inside the Grand Elder's room.
Vegeta stood once again before the Grand Elder.
Though not much time had passed, the Grand Elder's expression was noticeably more relaxed.
The reason was simple.
Frieza—the Emperor of the Universe—had been eliminated.
The Namekians were no longer facing extinction.
Those who had died could still be revived with the Dragon Balls.
"You may take the Dragon Ball and make your wish," the Grand Elder said slowly. "But before that, I ask you to protect my people for a period of time."
His voice grew heavier.
"Although the main culprit has been punished, I sense many malicious auras approaching Namek. The closest of them will arrive in less than three days…"
Vegeta immediately understood.
In the original timeline, the Grand Elder had also sensed the Ginyu Force's approach.
Now, even with Frieza dead, the Ginyu Force would still arrive—and they would slaughter without mercy.
If Vegeta left now, the Namekians would still face annihilation.
Even if Goku arrived on schedule, the Ginyu Force would have more than enough time to wipe out what remained.
As for Krillin and Gohan…
Their strength wasn't even comparable to Nail.
"You're saying that besides the Ginyu Force, you've sensed other forces approaching Namek," Vegeta said flatly.
The Grand Elder nodded.
"Yes. And that aura… its malice is even greater than Frieza's."
"Oh?" Vegeta's lips curled into a faint smirk. "Then that should be Frieza's father—King Cold. In terms of sheer evil, he surpasses Frieza."
He paused, eyes narrowing.
"But in terms of strength?"
"He's not stronger than Frieza."
