Chapter 70
They all stood in silence as they watched the two of them continuously interrogate the man and the woman.
Realizing that all of this was just a waste of time, Arvrenda turned around and stepped to Wayne's side with an upright posture and steady steps toward Zeta.
A few meters before he reached her, he removed his glasses and said in a restrained tone, "That's not the person we're looking for."
Zeta's pupils immediately widened. She glanced at him and said hurriedly, "What do you mean? Is there someone else who orchestrated all of this?"
Arvrenda fell silent for a moment before putting his glasses back on. "Exactly. Bring Mr. Kavatusce right now! Remember, don't let anyone see you."
As if Zeta forgot how to breathe upon hearing those words, she then walked slowly and replied almost in a whisper, "Alright. I'll do it."
On the other side, he felt fortunate when he saw Evan together with Natasya walking toward the two of them to interrogate the three suspects.
As Zeta was about to reach Zaharon, her steps suddenly stopped. The sound of an explosion was heard not far from where they stood, causing them to simultaneously turn their heads to find the source of the sound.
The three of them did not waste this opportunity. The man ran to the right, while the two women ran to the left past Wayne with cynical smiles on their faces.
'So it's true that they are the masterminds behind this, damn it.'
Their thoughts seemed to sink as they realized two things; the three of them had escaped and there was the sound of that explosion.
"Alfred, revolver," Wayne shouted as he stepped forward.
"Alright." Alfred pulled out a revolver, then threw it.
The revolver spun briefly in the air, its tip reflecting a flash of light before Wayne caught it with his hand as if catching a peanut.
Alfred hurried after him along with his subordinate.
Running several dozen meters from the previous location, Wayne aimed the silver revolver precisely at the leg of the woman whose steps were the slowest, as if she was planning something.
Bang!
Like a cat sensing danger, the woman, whether by reflex or instinct, turned into another path that led directly to the place where the logistics crates were stored, at the southern corner of the field.
Meanwhile, the other woman moved straight ahead, entering the crowded refugee camp area to make her escape easier.
However, that woman was chased by Alfred along with one of his subordinates.
Because Wayne was hindered by his stamina against a woman younger than him, he had no choice but to do that.
As he kept running, thinking of chasing the woman who had turned away, his mouth moved as if speaking to someone, his voice almost like a whisper.
'Acterena Interrupting... Like the sun that shines in the morning, like the moonlight that drives away the darkness of the night.'
But before Wayne could finish his sentence, another explosion was heard from the left, on the eastern side of the refugee camp field.
His steps immediately halted and he realized that the woman who had previously spoken with Arvrenda had run far away and was now outside the range of his first-level ability, Butcher.
Wayne's pupils narrowed as he realized the truth.
'Damn it, who exactly are the people infiltrating this refugee camp and what is their purpose for coming here?'
He raised his arm, watching the hairs on his skin stand on end beneath his long black coat. Meanwhile, sweat began to cover his face and his expression went blank for a moment as if fear had gripped his mind.
Wayne slipped his right hand into his coat pocket while holding his breath, then took out the relic he had used before and threw it forward.
After doing that, he let out a sigh of relief and as he realized the relic had activated, he stepped past it and opened the revolver's cylinder to check the remaining bullets.
Three. That was enough for him, and this time he would not give them a second chance.
A ring relic called Casmada, which can activate when the two relics come into contact. A relic capable of tracking a target within a hundred meters once activated according to the user's thoughts. Perhaps its range could increase if combined with similar relics or artifacts.
Meanwhile, Luke managed to capture the man and Albert struck him lightly to vent his emotions from the earlier incident that morning.
Around eight people from the meeting group surrounded the man and occasionally used a bit of violence to force him to speak.
Gentle methods did not work, and they all realized that because the three of them had the same condition and used the same excuse when answering earlier, it further confirmed that he was the infiltrator they were looking for.
"Tell us, how many of your accomplices have infiltrated this place?" Evan asked in a firm tone.
The man chuckled while enduring the pain from the bruises on his face.
"Hey, you bastard." Natasya did not hesitate to grab the man's chin and lift his face to intimidate him.
"My home was destroyed because of you, and... damn it. Answer quickly! Otherwise I will..."
She did not get to finish her sentence.
"A little stimulation might help," Albert interjected calmly, bending down to tickle the man's stomach.
He was certain that someone would unconsciously say something if they were focused on what they were experiencing.
"Ahahahahaha. Stop, alright, alright. I'm just a hired man, and those robed people are the ones who paid me."
The man could not hold back his laughter, then fell face down onto the rough ground of the field with his hands tied behind his back.
"I surrender," the man said in a trembling voice.
"Intersection Society and Black Cage are the ones who ordered and threatened me to do this."
The man laughed one last time before falling silent while observing their panicked faces with an expression that was hard to describe.
"Who exactly are they?" Evan asked curiously.
But one of them let that question pass like fog swept away by the wind.
"Who are those two women?" Fererra asked while holding his breath.
"Your accomplices?" Feyne added calmly.
"It seems they don't know each other," Albert replied calmly as if he were the mastermind behind all of this and had arranged the three of them to carry it out.
"What do you mean?" Cathal could not hold back his curiosity.
Albert immediately approached and examined the burn on the man's hand by untying the binding at his wrist.
As Albert was about to remove the bandage wrapped around the man's hand, Natasya could not hold back her thoughts and said in a slightly amused tone;
"Wouldn't that hurt? And it seems you're being excessive."
Albert voiced that remark and continued removing the bandage. Once the bandage was removed, it revealed the man's brown skin, and as they had already noticed from the gaps in the bandage earlier, there was a burn wound.
As they hesitated over Albert's decision, two people sent by the Morotuane church realized something when Albert slipped his hand into his black coat.
A glass bottle with a wooden cap, containing a blue liquid that seemed to absorb light when first taken out.
'That's neutralizing water, right?' both of them thought almost at the same time.
Realizing that it was ordinary water but contained something like a concoction and combined with a talisman that could reveal the truth, the man squirmed like a worm.
As Albert opened the cap and poured the liquid directly onto the man's hands, the liquid reacted and seeped in before lifting the fake wound by evaporating it.
"What actually happened?" Natasya muttered in shock.
"This... a fake wound? But how did he do all of this?" Evan muttered in disbelief, yet also in admiration.
"That's not important," Fererra replied calmly. "It seems our efforts all this time have not been in vain."
He smiled in relief as he realized it.
Meanwhile, Wayne walked calmly and was about to reach the woman's location along with Alfred and his subordinates.
A few minutes later, they arrived at an area filled with refugee tents and crowds of people. And they saw that woman together with another woman standing still and making strange movements, and they saw the woman who had previously spoken with Arvrenda removing the bandage from her hand.
"It seems my task is finished," the woman said with a faint smile. "I will be waiting for you in Niki."
After saying that, the woman's body faded, leaving only the woman who stood silently and had spoken with her earlier.
Realizing that she had been found, and bearing the burden while her two companions had escaped from this place, the woman smiled faintly as her cream-colored skirt moved with the wind and her hair gently waved as she looked at the three of them with an expression that was hard to describe.
With an expressionless face, Wayne pointed the revolver directly at the woman's head.
'I didn't expect to meet her again,' he thought as the woman's blue eyes stared at him intensely.
"Do you want to shoot me again?" the woman asked as she walked to the side.
"Maybe," he replied flatly, "and it seems that explosion came from you."
The woman smiled faintly before running toward him.
Without hesitation, Wayne pulled the trigger.
Bang!!
The woman slightly tilted her body to the side to avoid the bullet, and accelerated her steps while clenching her fists tightly.
A punch was directed at Alfred. However, Alfred stepped back quickly while deflecting the woman's punch with his wrist.
Alfred's subordinate attacked the woman from the side, throwing a punch strong enough to kill a woman like her.
But with her agility and flexibility, the woman lowered her head and rolled on the ground before attempting to strike, but was forced to retreat when Wayne fired for the second time.
"Turns out you're quite agile." Wayne unconsciously praised the woman.
'Even though her left shoulder was injured by my shot earlier, can I defeat her with this last bullet?' Wayne thought while remaining still in place.
Meanwhile, the woman stood still while observing the two people she had to defeat first. She was certain that Wayne would not use his ability when others were nearby, so the plan she had in mind this time had a 90 percent chance of success.
"It seems I'll get a little serious." The woman took out a dagger that had already been coated with poison, then ran toward the two of them without the slightest hesitation.
A few meters before the woman lunged at Alfred with her sharp dagger.
"Bobby." he shouted in a panicked tone, while running backward to avoid the woman's attack.
Alfred's subordinate immediately responded, running quickly to chase the woman and launching his punch.
Thud!!
Because she was focused on chasing Alfred, the woman could not avoid Bobby's heavy blow.
She was thrown several meters from where she stood, crashing into a refugee tent where two people were still resting inside.
Bruk!!
The sound of objects falling was heard.
As Wayne walked toward the tent while preparing to pull the trigger, the woman suddenly appeared behind him, angling the dagger to stab the blood vessel in his neck.
Thanks to the instinct from his ability, he survived the attack by shooting the dagger until it shattered into pieces.
Bang!
The woman consistently stepped back twice, her mouth tightly shut, her jaw clenched as a strange sensation stabbed sharply into her shoulder and the time that had been set was about to end, causing her to no longer be able to move as before.
So she abandoned the attempt to finish off Wayne and glanced at the two others who had already approached and successfully surrounded her.
"It seems we should end this little game."
"Don't joke," Alfred said, his face grim.
"What?"
"Destroying and killing others, do you think that's funny? Damn it."
The woman closed her eyes for a moment before finally responding in a low voice, her expression gloomy.
"I know that."
After saying that, the woman immediately jumped from one crate to another before disappearing from the sight of the three of them.
The people living nearby heard the commotion outside, but did not dare to approach after realizing that they were not ordinary people.
"Sir?" Bobby tried to calm his master from the anger burning in his chest, but when his gaze shifted forward, toward Wayne, he then chose to remain silent.
"I'm sorry, if it weren't for me being with you, Mr. Havertson would have already defeated that woman," Alfred said while looking at him with an expression that was hard to describe.
'It seems he has realized it.'
Wayne let out a breath to hide his disappointment.
"Returning to that place is the best choice."
On the other side, at the border of Niki on Road No. 11 Suncrise which directly borders Road No. 1 in North Tezny.
Two people; a man and a woman were relaxing on a large, wide rock right under a tree with a canopy that protected them from the sunlight and seemed to be waiting for someone's arrival.
"That plan, was it you who made it?" the woman asked curiously, while not knowing how he could move others for the plan's success.
"Maybe, but Jack the Ripper is the one who arranged all of this," replied the man who was lying on the rock with both hands as a pillow.
"But where is he now?" the woman asked once again.
The man immediately got up. "He is still in that place."
The air around her was so suffocating as those words were spoken, the woman's jaw clenched tightly, realizing that the person who had ordered her all this time was very cunning and also mysterious.
Meanwhile, they finally gathered, except for three people, and explained the information obtained from the man earlier.
"So, Mr. Havertson," said Fererra as the head of the information-seeking group. "That man, what will be done with him next?"
"Imprison him." Natasya could not hold back her anger.
"That is not possible," Evan interjected calmly.
Aurora was merely a puppet that could move and hear their conversation; and realizing that there was no point in being here, she immediately turned around and looked for Arvrenda whom she had previously seen leave with two others.
After searching here and there without finding him, she briefly asked someone passing by on the path between the rows of tents.
"Excuse me, have you seen three people; one woman and two men, pass through this place?" she asked without expecting the man to answer her question.
"I don't think I saw them," replied the long-haired black-haired man in a sluggish tone.
"I see." Aurora immediately continued her steps, intending to search for them on her own.
The man shook his head before turning into the path on his left.
