Chapter 162 - Chapter 162

The silence that followed the landing was absolute. No birdsong, no rustle of leaves, no whimper from the freed Pokémon. The air itself felt thick and heavy, pressing down under the weight of the creature's presence.

Its glowing red eyes swept over the clearing, a slow, deliberate arc of judgment. They lingered on the HYDRA agents, who, despite their terror, were falling back on their training. With shaking hands, they raised their modified net launchers and stun rifles, aiming at the new, colossal threat.

Batgirl's breath caught. The tactical part of her brain screamed to move, to get the civilians clear, but her body was locked in place by sheer, primal awe.

Harley's jaw hung open, her mallet dangling from one hand.

Ivy simply stared, a profound, instinctive chill settling in her chest. This was not a plant. This was the mountain's own fury, given form.

The creature moved.

It was not slow. It was deliberate, a piston of living iron. A HYDRA agent fired an energy net. The creature didn't dodge. It turned its shoulder, and the net struck its armored plating with a shower of useless blue sparks before falling away, inert.

Then it retaliated. A low, grinding roar emanated from deep within its chest as it stomped one massive foot. The earth in front of it erupted. Boulders the size of industrial crates tore free from the soil and shot forward in a devastating wave.

Rock Slide.

The attack wasn't chaotic. It was precise, surgical. The torrent of stone swept the remaining agents off their feet, burying them under a pile of rubble with muffled cries and the clatter of broken equipment. They were pinned, groaning, but conspicuously alive.

"YEAH! BOOM! Take that, ya chumps!" Harley whooped, punching the air, her earlier fear completely forgotten. "That's how you bonk bad guys! Teamwork! You an' us, big guy!"

Ivy didn't share her joy. She pressed her fingers to her temple, her eyes wide. Through the soles of her boots, she could feel it—a deep, resonant thrum in the bedrock, a vibration of pure, ancient power. It wasn't just protecting the forest. It was asserting dominion. A possessive, territorial wrath that made the Green itself feel small and young.

Batgirl watched the pinned agents, then the creature, then her two unlikely companions. Her initial relief curdled into cold apprehension. This wasn't a rescue. This was a statement. And they were standing right in the middle of its territory.

The creature's burning gaze swept over the incapacitated HYDRA agents, then to the cowering wild Pokémon. It nudged a trembling Teddiursa and a sooty Vulpix with the side of its horn, a gesture surprisingly gentle but firm, herding them towards the deeper woods. Its work as guardian complete, the massive head turned.

Its glowing red eyes settled directly on the three women.

The stare was an intense, unblinking pressure. It carried no gratitude, no recognition of a shared enemy. There was only a silent, territorial assessment.

A cold knot tightened in Batgirl's stomach. She knew that stance. It wasn't hostile yet, but it was defensive, and they were inside its perimeter. Her fingers moved before her conscious thought finished, darting to her utility belt. She pulled her secondary Pokédex, her thumb finding the scan button as she raised it.

A thin beam of blue light washed over the colossal form.

The device whirred, beeped excitedly, and its screen flashed.

POKÉDEX ENTRY:

SPECIES: Alpha Aggron

TYPE: Steel / Rock

CATEGORY: Iron Armor Pokémon

HEIGHT: 3.8 m

WEIGHT: 720.0 kg

DESCRIPTION: A titan among its kind, this Alpha specimen is filled with a mysterious, ancient power. Its eyes glow with a red light, and it is far more aggressive than others of its kind. It acts as a guardian of the mountains, though its protection is as fierce as its wrath. Possesses 'Wild Might.'

NOTES: Dominant and unyielding. Does not dodge; it walks through attacks to deliver a crushing blow.

"Alpha," Batgirl whispered, the word hanging in the silent clearing like a verdict. The Pokédex had given them a name, a type, a weight. And a warning.

Harley clapped her hands, her face lighting up. "Alpha? Oooh, that sounds super cool! Like a boss level critter! You hear that, Red? We found a boss!"

Ivy winced, her green skin seeming to pale a shade. The words "Wild Might" and "unyielding" echoed in her mind, not as data points, but as a palpable, ancient energy she could feel through the Green. This wasn't a creature; it was a force of nature, a primal law that predated heroes and villains. It respected no authority but its own.

Batgirl's focus was laser-sharp. She processed the numbers: the weight, the height, the "aggressive" temperament. The explicit mention of territoriality was the final, chilling piece. They were standing in its living room.

"Hey there, big guy," Batgirl called, stepping forward with a raised, placating hand. Her voice was a model of calm control, belying the tremor of raw power washing over her. "We're not here to cause trouble. We're on your side. We helped take down those poachers, remember?"

"Yeah! We're friendly!" Harley yelled, waving her mallet cheerfully. "We could share snacks! I got jerky!"

Ivy let out a soft, defeated sigh. She could sense the creature's utter indifference to their words. It didn't speak in sentences. It spoke in territory, in challenge, in dominance.

The Alpha Aggron's glowing red eyes narrowed. A low, guttural growl vibrated the air. It took one heavy, deliberate step forward, the ground groaning under its weight. Its shadow fell over them, cold and immense.

It did not respond to their pleas. It only responded to their presence as intruders. It threw its head back and unleashed another earth-shaking roar—a primal, final warning that left no room for negotiation.

Batgirl's grip tightened on her escrima sticks, her jaw set into a hard line. Harley's grin vanished, replaced by a focused, dangerous glint as she hefted her mallet. Ivy's features hardened with grim resolve; she raised her hands, a faint emerald glow igniting at her fingertips.

They exchanged one last, fleeting look. It was full of reluctance, the clear understanding that they were outmatched. But it was also a promise.

The battle was imminent.
