Chapter 469 - Chapter 459: The Legacy of the Swarm

Chapter 459: The Legacy of the Swarm

During his month of rest and transition, Kenji discovered something truly

unexpected: his Beedrill had produced an egg.

He wasn't entirely shocked by the biological reality. In the Pokémon world,

Bug-types were defined by their incredible reproductive cycles. In the water,

Magikarp were the universal food source; on land, Bug-types filled that same

unfortunate niche. To survive a world where almost every predator viewed them as

a high-protein "energy bar," Bug-types had evolved to breed at a prolific rate.

However, Kenji's Beedrill was... unique. He was a creature of singular focus, a

warrior whose only drive was absolute perfection. Even when confronted with his

own offspring, the insect remained "stone-cold." He showed zero emotional

attachment to the egg, hovering over it with a look of clinical indifference.

Two weeks later, the egg hatched.

Out crawled a tiny, vibrant Wurmple. Kenji checked its status immediately.

Thanks to the overwhelming quality of its father's genetic code, the little

crawler possessed S-Tier potential. For a "common" bug, such a rating was nearly

unheard of.

Kenji looked at the Wurmple, then at the detached Beedrill. He realized that if

he kept the little one on his team, it would likely spend its life in the shadow

of his first partners, relegated to the second or third string.

He thought of a better path.

Kenji reached out to Song Qiang, the son of the Southern Cloud Gym Leader, Gu

Siyu. Little Qiang was Kenji's most devoted fan, a boy whose singular dream was

to become a Bug-type Elite Four member.

When Kenji presented the Wurmple to him, the boy nearly fainted with joy. He

didn't care that it was a "common" forest bug; to him, it was a prince of the

Swarm, sired by the strongest Pokémon in Huaxia.

Gu Siyu and her husband were equally stunned. An S-tier Bug-type was a priceless

asset, a partner that could realistically carry a trainer to the regional top

tier. Kenji simply asked the boy to take good care of it, and Qiang gave a

tearful, solemn vow to do so.

In the years to come, Song Qiang would fulfill that promise, becoming one of the

few Bug-type Elite Four members in Huaxia's history. His ace, a magnificent

Beautifly, would become a symbol of grace and lethality—but that was a story for

the distant future.

The countdown to the World Championship—the Eight Masters Tournament—had

officially begun. There were exactly two years left until the global gathering

of kings.

Two years was a significant window. It was the exact amount of time needed for

the seal on the Pokémon Kenji had obtained through the Low-Key Flex reward to

break. He was deeply curious about the "Alien God," Deoxys, and what role it

would play in his final roster.

Furthermore, his System Shop had finally refreshed a high-quality item: an

S-Tier Egg.

When it hatched, Kenji found himself looking at a spirited, fluffy Growlithe. He

was pleased. Arcanine was one of the few non-Legendaries capable of mastering

Extreme Speed, and its majestic appearance had led ancient civilizations to

mistake it for a deity. As a mount for traveling across the Huaxia landscape,

there was no better choice.

As the months turned into a year, the "Kenji Effect" continued to reshape the

nation.

With Lawson taking over the bulk of the Champion's administrative paperwork to

give Kenji time to train, the young Sovereign was free to focus on his growth.

Meanwhile, Zhurong Yun remained secluded on Mt. Cinder, training his Blaziken

for their inevitable rematch on the world stage.

To the people of Huaxia, Kenji was no longer just a trainer; he was a living

myth. He was the commoner who had conquered the House of Champions at nineteen.

His face was everywhere.

This level of fame turned Li Heng's family business into a global empire. In

just two years, Bin's BBQ had expanded from a local East Mountain shop to a

franchise covering every province in Huaxia. They had even opened their first

international branch in the Kalos region. Kenji's offhand comment years ago

about wanting to eat Bin's BBQ anywhere in the country had become a literal

reality.

Simultaneously, Metropolis Academy had used Kenji's legacy to officially

dethrone the Imperial Academy. It was now recognized as the #1 training school

in the Huaxia League—the "Cradle of the Legend."

Kenji watched it all with a sense of quiet satisfaction. His friends were

thriving, his team was reaching the Master Tier, and the world was beginning to

recognize that a new era had arrived.

But as the two-year mark approached, Kenji felt a familiar prickle of

anticipation.

The Eight Masters are coming, he thought, looking toward the horizon. And I

don't plan on being just another seat in the gallery.
