"3 Days until arrival"
After the message was transmitted it sparked an immediate debate across the station, and the seemingly faster than light Gossip networks, begun operating at unbelievable speeds. Despite the fact that the civil part of the Communication Arays and Satellites usaly runs like an online mail service with the usual delay of important messages because of paperwork and approval processes, but of course money can expedite the proccess.
But the rumors aren't the most pressing thing, the frontline reports that usually would be sending detailed information about troop losses and resource consumption suddently painted a different picture. There were suddently no more frontline casualties, the only losses they received were medical losses from allready hurt personnel. The report includes detailed evidence of the changing enemy behaviour, as the Plague ships begun to change their behaviour, from chaotically aggressive attacking to defensive positioning with clear defensive manovering.
The reports describe it as followed: "The enemy ships are aborting their previous chaotic random attack patterns in favor of an superior strategic defense formation. This extremely unusual change in enemy tactics leads oure fleet Commander to also disengage the enemy and therefore we have now switched towards a more defensive battle strategy. Please send the updated orders as son as possible!"
After several similar reports from the aktive warzones, each similar report that arrived tuned more and more of the people in the hall silent. Inside the Human part of the room the nervousness slowly grow deeper. Among the Elf's there was a whispered discussion ongoing, and worry grew that if it's truly an sentient conciseness what that would entail. All the previously scattert Plague spore pods and infected ships and personal and put an being as Commander that's way smarter than any instinct driven Mushroom Being. The others opinions were way more splitted some thought it would be a good idea, others like some researchers that hold specimen shrooms are franticly scribbling and typing at various writing implementations while the room slowly drifts into chittering and overlapping discussions and wispering...
"2 Days until arrival"
After everyone had a more or less satisfying rest the Delegates gathered together to discuss the first point of the urgent market things to do. "We should just pick up the fight again! We can't afford to give the Plague this time to do who knows what!" It came out of the Human section and and everyone suddenly remembered, that the military Comanders responsible to lead sections of the frontline, had asked for new orders and that nobody had even decided what to do.
After a sudden shuffle on the screen the assistant AI that was programmed to help streamline the Voting and urgency classification of upcoming matters, suddendly put up two new list on the screen.
One side read:
Urgent Decisions to Resolve!
- [New Military Orders]
and the other side read: Extremely Urgent Unresolved Backlog!
-[Dissaperance of the Enemy Coms Unit]
-[Massiv resource Backlog from the Frontlines ]
-[and everything else]
And then after the helpfull reminder, the people got back on track, sending new orders, after the vote skimmed the previous put up suggestions to go back to war. The deciding argument was the massive cut in military expenses as the continued resource consumption suddently holds. This result tipped enough on the voting partys favor.
"1 day until arrival"
The start of the day brought a rapid growing sense of anxiety to the attending party's Delegates. Even the AI got nervous which troubled the Attending 'Tech Wizzard' aka the guy who's only job was to monitor and fix the AI. Even more prominent to any potential onlookers was the whispered discussion about how the Plague would've be able to adress the room and or if it would send some Gruesome infected beings as representatives. Or a comms Satellite like the original message got delivered.
After yesterday vote for the new Military Orders the fronline had calmed down but the tensions on the Coalitions side were growing with each minute, it eased slightly after the new orders arrived. But after the situation became obvious to all the soldiers who where supposed to be participating inside this bloody Home defense War. Some soldiers spun the course of reason and consequences:
Multi Galaxy Wide Tactical Changes =>
Enemy behaviour changes across Multiple Galaxy's =>
Increased Hivemind Intelligence =>
Increased Tactical Awareness =
xtimes Harder Fights
and got exponentially more tense. It spread around and soon hit the commander's who in turn began a strategic meeting to discuss further options.
Back on the station, the maintenance crew got busy as of tommorow they would have to acommandate unknown beings from one of the major common Enemys. On top of that it was the most horrific Enemey for flesh and blood being as they were Enemys for so long that everyone knew what happened to infected flesh and blood beings. As nobody wants to have his body infected, slowly losing control over ones own body while being clearly conciseness and witnessing the whole thing with no options of stopping it, would turn anyone crazy over time. They got Biohazard Suits for the unfortunate people who have to step up to greet the coming Enemey Delegates, they even got the orders to temporarily seperate part of the designated docking Hangar from the rest of the stations systems, to prevent possible damage to the rest of the station. But of course one day to accomplish all of that just didn't cut it, so they did the best they could do and just changed the life support into a one-way system with connected external vents to regulate the Air pressure and flow.
"'LOST' Com Satellite"
The 'lost' Satellite that seemingly disappeared just got smaller as the Mushrooms digest the other parts and ejected spores all around. The biggest part of the spores just travels into random directions but enough were on the way towards the station, each impact less than any reasonable impact sensors would pick up. The sensors calibrated to register and map the upcoming impacts of space debris are simply not build to detect that. If anyone would watch from the outside the only visible clue would be parts of the stations outer hull would shimmer sometimes at someparts like distorted air above a hot ground. The Fungi roots growing around and checking the station seemingly looking for something. A something that got conveniently fast delivered as the newly installed Air dispensing Vents just offered Real Prime Shroom Estate. The Vent parts that usaly block solid matter from exiting along with the Air are spaced just right for the Shroom's so they just settled in and the optical disturbance faded away with the relocating Myzelium.
Except some of the people who returned alive from the Frontlines that suddently got cold sweat no one else even suspected a thing, the blessing of ignorance indeed exists.
