Still hurts ?
Chapter; 04
Keifer's POV
I woke up from a sleep that didn't feel like rest.
It felt like a reminder.
A reminder of her face.
Of her voice.
Even though the truth hits me every morning like a knife, every dream I have still ends with her.
"Jay..." her name slipped from my lips the moment I opened my eyes.
It was a morning ritual I couldn't seem to break.
"Kuya! Kuya, wake up! You have a meeting in two hours!" Kiegan's voice boomed from outside my bedroom door.
"I'm awake," I called back, my voice gravelly.
"Kieren and I are heading to school now."
Wait...Am..late?
"Hold on, I'll drive you both," I said, throwing the covers off and swinging my legs out of bed.
"No, Kuya, it's fine. The driver is already waiting. You just focus on getting ready for your online meeting. And make sure you check those files beforehand!"
I heard his footsteps retreating down the stairs. I sighed, rubbing my face.
As far as I remember, I'm the oldest of the three of us, but lately, it feels like Kiegan is my babysitter.
I don't know what's gotten into him.
My phone started buzzing on the nightstand. I checked the caller ID: Rory.
click.
"Kifer! How dare you!" he yelled the second I picked up. "It's been three weeks since you got back to the Philippines and you haven't come to see us!"
"Good morning to you too, Rory," I muttered.
"We asked Kiegan if we could visit, but he said you were too busy and didn't have time for us mortals!"
ahaa...that kid.
It had been almost a year since I left for London. Now, the transition was complete.
The Watson company was finally mine.
I was officially the CEO of Watson Enterprise.
"I'm tied up until 3:00 PM today," I said, walking toward the bathroom. "We can hang out after. What about the others?"
"They're fine with any time. Only Denzel and Eman can't make it because of work," Rory replied. "Yuri is coming back today, so we're meeting at his place."
"Fine. See you at Yuri's."
"Alright, bro. and...Hey... are you okay, Kif?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"nhaa just...I don't know... you just sound a little tired."
"I'm fine. See you then. Bye."
"Bye, bro."
I stared at the phone for a second.
Why is he being so sentimental?
An hour later, I joined the conference call and began the grueling task of discussing business expansion.
I only returned to the Philippines for two reasons. First, to stabilize the Watson branch here. Second, for my brothers future.
Both of them were still in school here,
Kiegan was sixteen, and Kieren was just starting middle school.
I wanted them to have the stability I didn't have while I finished my studies in London.
The meeting ended with me sending a death glare through the webcam at Clayde. As the Co CEO of Watson Enterprise, I was forced to maintain constant contact with him.
The man was a walking symbol of frustration.
Every damm meeting with him felt like a battle of wills.
Once the laptop was shut, I started getting ready to head to Yuri's.
Yeah.
Yuri's place.
It was time to face the noise again.
END.
