Chapter 14 - 14 I Trust Him With My Life!

Midas froze, "Regrown?..."

Midas began shuddering not a lot but noticable, as a flood of emotion flooded him.

Null and Ron payed equal attention to Midas, which showed the mental strain Null could handle, as he payed the same amount of attention to how his and Midas's tension got defused, at the same time.

Midas, slowly seemed to regain himself as he looked at Ron, "Am i getting my actual face back?" He asked in a docile and hesitant tone.

Ron smiled kindly, with all the man's strength and size, he looked like a brute of a father, yet a Dad.

For a father may be of your blood, that does not mean he is your Dad, for a Dad is of the heart. Nevertheless you call him of something else, like father or papa, but that you recognize him as the protecter in your heart.

So the smile of the brute, caused a shift in Midas not the same level of effect as of a Dad's, yet it still caused an effect. Not only did the smile cause the shift but also he was promised his face.

There was a difference...

A expensive difference.

The obtaining of a face after cybernetic alterations, is simply creating extremely malleable stretchy yet firm metal skin replica, of the person's face from a picture.

But this skin cannot age with the person, even though they may feel the effects of time upon their bodies, they don't see it on their faces, the opposite is said when they see everyone else around them slowly age. As small or large as this factor contributes to the feeling of detachment from other people.

It always leaves the people in regret for even chosing to have cybernetics on their face and, paying for this cheaper yet, still expensive attempt to feel more human than less than they already have made themselves to be.

Than there was the category of methods called DNARestoration, which are different methods to restore parts of a person using their DNA. Surgeons use the genetic information held in DNA, and the provoking of the regeneration in a person, including the activating of dormant genes in a human shared across simple regenerative animals like salamanders.

Using, DNA information, regenerative acceleration, and dormant gene activation.

They cause the body itself to grow back their facial tissue, muscle, and skin.

And it was insanely more expensive than, simple facial replication.

Than Ron with a smile that kept Midas attention on him, Ron answered him, "Yes."

And with that they broke through the tunnel, and Null's eye widened in amazement at the scene of the city, as Ron finished his sentence, "I'm giving you that before i send you off to The Military, after all your the only one I can rely on to protect Olive, so as we stay for here for a week or so, atleast try to mend your relationship with my boy." Then he turned and looked into the rear view mirror.

"I'm also talking to you Lil Olive, try your best to mend each other's relationship." Ron said

Null heard every word, but what took his attention most, was the city.

Pillars, and pillars of soft edged, skyscrapers broke the sky, doing more than necessary to fullfil it's name sake, yet still unable to reach the clouds, thousands of feet above.

There was a pointed train, long and moving tremendously fast, yet pausing in a instant. Multiple vehicles traveling across the wall, to buildings that pointed at the center of the city, as if the wall it self was ground.

The buildings seemed to be made of sliver, and quartzes, they were homes that were built on irregular natural bumps, cliffs and small hills, large patches of greenery was scattered across this section of this city.

Unlike the sections were housing was appearant, there was tiled and bricked flat land, where businesses, stores, malls, organizations, and such were built on. In theses sections there was greenery but organized, in lines between inner mall walk ways, outside public visited placed, and established locations for appearances.

And in the middle of the city was a wall as tall as Dawn, it was Afternoon, the wall just after Noon. He giggled at the thought.

Then as Null saw more of the city as they drove further in, he narrowed his eyes.

"Uncle please turn off the window barrier." Null asked.

Ron, smiled as he turned it off, "If you're tryna get a better look at the place, your in for a big shocker." He said.

Midas only side glanced at Olive, who sticked his upper half out the window.

As his eyes widen in pure shock.

It was the same distance, close to the same height, and he look at the circling wall of the Afternoon section of the city, and...

Itself was larger than Chrome City from the same distance, meaning, what Afternoon was surrounding was a section of a city larger than a known City.

And the buildings covered the height advantage, over Chrome City.

Some of the sky scrapers more than peaking over the 400 feet tall wall, were easily 3000 feet tall.

Then he looked behind him, at Noon, stilllooming over them, covering them in a shadow, daunting as Dawn.

"You didn't notice, cause you seemed drugged on the scenery outside the city." Midas spoke up as Null sat back in the car, which Ron after, turned back on the window barrier.

Null, didn't know how to react to what Midas said, it didn't feel like any sort of malice or mock was dropped in his tone. It seemed just to be fact.

Which he couldn't say it isn't, because it was fact, he was so distracted with the greenery before him, he completely ignored the size of the city walls.

So how should he reply back?...

Wait, did he even have too?...No...

No, he didn't t have too, so he just hummed a sort of accepting short sound, as he turned his head out the window and appreciated the view.

After close to an hour, we arrived to a parking lot, connected to a square center with four large and tall hotels at each corners, made of glass and sliver decore, with a fountain at the center of them.

Null got out and mumbled to himself, "Well, found the fountain."

He then grabbed his bag, then he paused as he turned his head slowly towards Midas robotically, and looked at Midas up and down.

Midas, was wearing sweatpants that were baggy and brown in colour, and a plane darkish green sweater that was supposed to reach his knuckles. How did he know?

Because that was his clothes!!!!

How could he have forgotten that the gold dome had only rags on him with they first met.

"Hey."

Midas turned to Null who greeted him for some reason, then when he saw the wide eyed, eyebrow lifted expression, and his nose seemed to have wrinkles on them.

That of a snarl.

'What did i do to trigger him now?' Midas thought as he quirked his head, as he looked at Null's gaze, then followed it, as he realized he was looking at his chest.

'No, probably more like his clothes.' he thought

"When did you?..."

"For quite some time, I have been wearing them." Midas answered, uncaringly.

Null, grew anger at this response, he began to stomp closer towards Midas, as he prepared to begin what the female guard stopped.

His grip tightened as he formed a fist and–?!

"Sorry..." Midas said, paused as he himself was struggling with this, but he made sure to not show his hesitation concerning his next words.

'I-I owe this to the soldier, after all he could've left me with nothing but a ageless metallic plate for a replacement as a face...but that soldier is going to give me, my face back, my actual face, so I'll try my best to get along, with "White hairs" here.'

"Sorry, umm, your uncle i think, that's who he is to you right?... any case he said you wouldn't mind." Midas said, "And I hope you don't, i meant nothing by, this, course of action."

Null, paused and let go of gripping his hand into a fist. He scowled and then settled with, narrowed eyes, and a neutral expression all over.

He chose rather than looking at Midas, he chose to look at the finally exiting Ron, with his own large backpack.

And begin walking to one of the hotels after locking the car in it's entirety, Null followed him almost immediately.

They soon arrived at the entrance of the nearest one, Null was in a daze.

He recognized that there were people around him, they were strange in...?

He didn't know, they were all a blur. All his focus was solely on his thoughts.

'Am I in the wrong? Was there something wrong with me?' Null thought as he entered an elevator, he assumed with the bare minimum clues he could get, with his focal dilemma, as he saw Ron, atleast he thinks so after all who else could of made such a large blurry silhouette, tap on a gold plate that seemed to be how one was supposed to interact with the elevator.

Why was he even having these thoughts, well it was because of Midas.

'Did he actually listen to Uncle? Is he actually trying to get along with me, trying to do so for my uncle's sake?' that thought jarred him.

How could he, him, someone who actually was related to Ron, knew him for years not consider a simple request from him, who was the last person who actually cared for him...

'But does he still do though?...'

Null had doubts, that he himself couldn't say aren't grounded.

Doubts of that he was cared for, by the last person he looked up to. His own uncle, who chose to take an abandoned cybernetic enhanced teen with them, and let them do as they pleased concerning him, and to think the only time he even stopped the golden skulled boy, was when his car was at risk.

'Why should I even care about what he even wants. He wants us to get along so that we can look after each other, please, he just wants to keep an eye on me to make sure he knows every single thing i do.'

'He doesn't trust me, neither do–!!' than that thought was interrupted by a memory.

He was 4, and he arrived back in the same apartment he always lived in, but he got in normally through the front entrance and seemed excited.

He was small, his pure white hair, not that gray or sliver, just white like snow and his eye colour was entirely purple, something that strangly enough changed over the years. Gray foggy mist appeared around his pupil devouring it's surrounding.

But...for now, it's not.

He opened the door and got in, with a smile painfully stretched across his entire chubby baby face.

There was a front desk where a old man sat reading a digital screen about the news and information regarding other planets, out of genuine curiousity.

"Bill, Bill!" Null jumped up and down, calling out to the old man.

"Your back from school already." He said not much of a question, just recognizing how much time has pasted reading that newsletter.

Then with a amused groan, the elderly man spoke, "I told you that ain't my name ya smurf." He chuckled right after.

Then Null pointed at the man accusingly, which sent the man into a laughing fit. "You keep saying, when you're gonna bill this or is Papa gonna bill out the payment, you keep saying bill, bill, bill, so now you're Bill, simple logik." He said.

The man calmed down, "You lost ya tooth or something? Cause it's logic not logik." He stated.

"Shut up, Grandpa Bill!!." He said to the man with a pink face, sending the poor man into a fit of laughter.

Null huffed than began jumping excited again, "Is he here, is he here?!!" The boy said his hair jumping up and down.

"Ya, ya, his up there, best getting going." The old man said.

Null immediately sprinted up-!?

"Wait a minute!" Bill called out to the boy.

The boy turned back with an impatient expression.

"...Happy birthday, Dorry." The old man said teasingly and fondly.

Null, smiled and still spoke out in protest as he rushed up the stairs, "That ain't my name!"

Bill chuckled happily and amused.

With a grandfatherly smile...

He died, but...for now, his not.

Null reach his apartment door he unlocked it, then opened it.

"Surprise!!!" Ron shouted with his entire chest, shaking some furniture.

In the same apartment he was in since a child till present, ribbons and confetti fell.

There was, a large diabetes causing cake, for him.

"Papa!!!" Null shouted as he shaked, twirled and did all sorts of nonsense and ran straight at Ron, he tripped, face first, but raised his head straight up at Ron in a blur, the fall having no effect on his vigor and speed, slamming straight into his chest.

Which Ron, happily fell over.

He raised the quite small child in the air, as he flailed around, "HeeeHEeeee!" That was all the boy, created high pitched sounds of joy.

Then Ron spoke, "Happy birthday my little Olive."

Null still squealing, spoke with a large smile on his face, "My name isn't Olive and I'm not small! Haheheee."

To that Ron only smiled.

That day was his most cherished and was where his memories began.

Now that he remembered, everything big, ever event in his whole small life, he was there, always, from when he was an infant till now.

He arrived even at his worst.

Sometimes bursed and haggard, scarred, deprived of sleep, or just drained, once he remembered him was a dead look as he looked at a recording.

It wasn't of his mother or father, because...he suspected even Ron had a slight bitterness towards his parents.

*Tiiing!*

The elevator opened and his focal dilemma wasn't there anymore, his able to notice things around him.

His surrounding now clear, including his thoughts.

'Even if he doesn't trust me...'

Then the memory of him waking up in a blanket on the man's lap, of who he called Papa, yet chose to change it to Uncle, after all...Ron never told him to stop calling him Papa.

'Even if he doesn't trust me, I trust him with my life!'
