Countless wards had been layered on top of one another throughout the centuries, detection spells were woven into the very walls, and both guards and Shadow Knights patrolled the grounds day and night without pause. Even the surrounding forest was monitored. If an unknown person so much as stepped within the castle's borders, alarms would be triggered almost immediately and the entire fortress would be placed on alert.
