Chapter 245: The Calamity of Light — the Eternal Day Burning Sky Phoenix

Once Xu Jiawei secured the Fountain of Life, he immediately led the Star Luo Empire's delegation out of the Starry Auction Pavilion.

Zhongli Wu's eyes flickered with surprise as he watched them depart.

That emperor truly was clever.

Still, he made no move to follow—his focus was on the remaining auction items yet to appear.

Jiang Li, observing the Star Luo Empire's early withdrawal, couldn't help but smile in approval.

Xu Jiawei's decision was indeed astute.

Anyone powerful enough to threaten the empire would stay to compete in the later auctions. Thus, leaving early guaranteed their safe return with the Fountain of Life intact.

The other top factions quickly understood the reasoning. Many silently took note—if they ever found themselves in the same situation, they too would leave immediately after obtaining their prizes.

As the last of the Star Luo contingent disappeared through the grand doors, Jiang Li raised his right hand.

A gentle wave of soul power converged in the center of the platform.

When the light faded, an unfamiliar soul spirit hovered in midair.

Its entire body shimmered with gold, like liquid sunlight. Its translucent wings bore countless tiny black specks, each radiating heat intense enough to warp and melt the air itself.

But the most terrifying aspect was this—its aura simultaneously carried the essence of ultimate light and ultimate destruction. Two diametrically opposed elements coexisted within its body, merging into a strange, overwhelming power.

The moment the soul spirit appeared, the entire auction hall trembled under the force of its presence.

Every gaze fixed upon the creature, expressions ranging from awe to disbelief.

"Another soul spirit? And from its energy alone, it must be at least a hundred-thousand-year level!"

"But… what kind of creature is that? I've never seen or even heard of such a species!"

The crowd erupted with speculation as numerous Title Douluo released their spiritual senses to investigate—only for them to be swallowed into nothingness.

Not one of them could discern the spirit's true identity.

The Douluo Continent had existed for countless years, and the participants here were its most knowledgeable experts on soul beasts.

Yet after several moments, no one could identify the creature. It was unprecedented.

"Teacher, do you know what kind of soul beast that is?"

Yan Shaozhe turned to Mu En, believing that the well-traveled elder might recognize it.

"I've seen many things, but a beast embodying both ultimate light and ultimate destruction? That is exceedingly rare," Mu En replied solemnly.

He focused fully on the aura emanating from the creature—and his pupils suddenly contracted.

Even a single ultimate attribute soul beast was extremely rare in the world.

But this one possessed two—two of the strongest imaginable: Light and Destruction.

The realization sent chills down his spine. This soul spirit was no ordinary existence.

"It feels familiar…" Di Tian muttered, frowning. "But I can't recall its name."

The entire hall was stunned.

If even the Beast God of the Douluo Continent didn't know this creature, its origins must be extraordinary.

Gu Yuena narrowed her eyes as she studied the luminous figure. After a brief silence, her expression shifted—then her pupils contracted sharply.

Her voice was low but clear:

"The Eternal Day Burning Sky Phoenix!"

The words fell like thunder.

Di Tian and the other fierce beasts—Bear Lord, Myriad Demon King, and more—stiffened with shock as realization dawned on them.

"Master… you mean that Eternal Day Burning Sky Phoenix—the Calamity of Light that embodies everlasting flame?"

Di Tian's hands trembled slightly as an ancient memory surfaced.

"When the heavens and earth first opened, it was said a creature of pure radiance was born—the Eternal Day Burning Sky Phoenix. Its flames were light itself, its core pure destruction. It could burn eternity to ash…"

Bear Lord's voice shook. "The very legend that even the Dragon God once feared… and now it appears here? How could the Starry Auction Pavilion possibly have its soul spirit?"

The Myriad Demon King trembled inwardly.

Such a being had existed long before his birth, its lineage ancient enough to rival the Dragon God's itself.

And now, after countless eons, this mythic creature reappeared—even if only as a soul spirit.

It was unbelievable.

He was certain that no such beast currently existed on the continent. If it had, Di Tian would not have been the strongest among Soul Beasts—the Phoenix would have ruled them all.

"Yes," Gu Yuena said softly. "It is indeed the Eternal Day Burning Sky Phoenix."

"Every beat of its wings ignited eternal flames among the stars, fires that devoured light and void alike until nothing remained."

As she spoke, the golden entity unfurled its wings. The radiant fire streaming between its feathers corroded space itself, leaving trails of pitch-black cracks in its wake.

Then, sensing the countless eyes upon it, the Phoenix spirit flared.

"Boom!"

A blinding burst of golden light filled the hall. Waves of flame made of pure light spiraled outward, coalescing into circles of burning energy that filled the air.

Jiang Li was ready.

The protective barrier of his invincible domain expanded instantly, enclosing the spirit and blocking the blast before it reached the spectators.

Even so, several close-by Soul Sages were struck by the shockwave, their blood churning and faces turning pale.

"How could the Pavilion possibly create such a soul spirit? To recreate an ancient beast long erased from existence… it's beyond comprehension," Bi Ji said in disbelief.

Creating a known soul beast was one thing—but conjuring a being from forgotten, prehistorical ages was another.

All the fierce beasts stared at the legendary creature before them, whose very flight left trails of luminous fire that refused to extinguish, burning eternally in the surrounding space.

"What a terrifying soul spirit," whispered Zhongli Wu, his eyes ablaze with desire.

At first, he had planned to conserve resources for later treasures—but this was too great an opportunity to ignore.

A soul spirit bearing dual ultimate attributes was beyond rare.

If the Holy Spirit Cult could secure it, their strength would ascend to an entirely new level.

He discreetly signaled one of his elders to begin counting their funds.

Meanwhile, the Shrek Academy powerhouses watched grimly.

They knew too well what would happen if such a soul spirit fell into the hands of evil soul masters.

Mu En leaned toward Yan Shaozhe and murmured, "Under no circumstance can we allow it to end up in their grasp. Even if we must exhaust all of the academy's reserves—we fight for it."

Yan Shaozhe nodded gravely, his palms already slick with cold sweat.
